Thank you so much! That's really awesome to hear - glad you enjoyed it! I have a handheld recorder that's decent for general atmospheric noises and a small shotgun microphone that's better for isolating sounds in a specific direction. However, sometimes capturing clean sound is not possible due to nearby traffic, people talking, the roar of the river, long distance shots, etc. For example, it was not possible to record the sound of the eagle ripping apart the salmon on the bank of the river. I was too far away (using a super tele lens) so I couldn't hear anything other than the river. In this case, I needed to create my own soundscape to best represent the immersive environment. For this scene specifically, I used 4-8 layers of recordings of me splashing puddles and snapping fresh vegetables. Happy to answer any other questions you may have!

@@nathanrollsphotography Is this place near the Mosquito bridge on the Mosquito Lake Rd? I went there around in the middle of the day few years ago and I just saw few perched eagles on the other side of the stream / shallow river along the Truck Road. Few people told me that I need stay in a hotel so I can get there earlier. Thank you.

@@georgetran1766 I live about 90 minutes away from that area and had to leave rather early in the morning in order to arrive by sunrise. The eagles were most active early in the morning and later in the afternoon. I'd use the mid-day as an opportunity to photograph elsewhere until the eagles became more active again. But yes, I was in and around that area. Some days and locations were more successful than others. Nature is unpredictable, of course.

Thank you! Beautiful area - will definitely be back there this fall and winter. I'm mounting my camera and lenses on a Gitzo fluid head. Isn't quite as smooth as a dedicated video panning head, but I only wanted one head as a hybrid shooter. It's a decent in-between, a good compromise for both stills and video.

bravo, remarkable video, such majestic spirits but formidable predators at the same time, feel blessed when I see them, I consider them heavenly but also a force to be reckoned with, its quite the feeling as on one trip to the ocean I had one fly so low over me that I felt and heard the wind from its wings, liked and sub.

Thank you! For this video, I was filming on the Canon R3. I used a 600mm lens paired with a 1.4x teleconverter for the eagle clips and a 70-200mm lens for the landscape clips. It's an exciting time to get into videography. Most mirrorless cameras today (even every-level) can capture stunning images and videos.
