Balanced on two wheels | Space satellite gyroscopes

The twin Control Moment Gyroscopes (CMGs) located at the base of the vehicle are the foundation of the AEV’s technical innovations. These massive gyroscopes are typically used for space satellite positioning - we’ve brought this technology down to earth, creating a self-balancing, gravity defying vehicle.
Not only do the CMGs make the Dynamic Balance System (DBS) possible, they enable a safer, lighter, lower cost vehicle that requires less parts, less maintenance, less emissions to manufacture and operate, and less battery to operate.
Roll moments from a side impact are naturally transferred to the gyros, not the occupants, ensuring a 4th level of production unmatched by any other vehicle on the market.

Hey there! Yes - as you may know, our founder and CEO had to go through an extensive recovery period due to a motorcycle accident, but we're back on track with an amazing team and a huge patent portfolio. We are now raising to begin the development process with our partners in Germany! We go into it in this blog post if you'd like to dive into the details: www.litmotors.com/post/answering-your-questions

Gyro power consumption varies depending on the size of the motor and the type of application. It's estimated to be between 90-800w

Two large gyroscopes (typically used in space satellites) spinning anywhere between 6,000-10,000 RPMs, which create up to 1,000 lbs of force each to keep the vehicle upright in a remarkably stable driving experience!

There are two space satellite gyroscopes in a mirrored configuration at the base of our vehicle. They can produce up to 1000 lbs of torque each to keep our vehicle balanced - super powerful (and completely patented!)

The the innovation this product is presenting to the market I am surprised you are not removing the steering wheel as a control feature. The dynamics of the system requires a very different skill set to drive it, using a wheel will lull people to reason by analogy and expect the vehicle to behave in a familiar manner. Many of the descriptions from Danny Kim and others articulate a feeling of flying. I would suggest then a joystick control would improve many factors in bring it to market. Joystick control enables; Lower part count. - (eg seat adjustment not required) Improved crash safety.- (slower inflation of airbag, more space for rear passenger) Customer recognition of a different control mechanism. Simpler articulation of “fly by wire” all motion mediated by software means less ambiguity of input to output from a user perspective.

What you are saying is fully reasonable (and incredibly appealing) from an engineering point of view. But speaking of the fact that the company wants to bring this to mass market in Europe, compliance with all vehicular and traffic related policies and regulations (nonetheless license issuing) would be probably such a huge hurdle (knowing how slow the update process of such complicated policies are), that it could potentially delay the time to market with decades. I think that this must be the biggest reason why either a steering wheel or a bike-like handle bar would be the only option to go if they want to put this to mass market before 2050 😀).

Steering wheel is not a valid way to control things that are needed to bend over while rotating. Same with bicycle steering mechanism with one horizontal stick, just because you are sitting on the down instead of chair-position ON vehicle. Helicopter high sensitivity one-levers are the same because you don't need to control stability of the vehicle and cannot rotate without moving. The two vertical levers (as in tank) would be more handy. To rotate you have to pull forward one lever and pull backward the second one.
