Introducing my new series… BAKING HACKS! 🍰
I thought I’d start a super casual series of backing hacks for any tips and tricks that I thought may help, so I thought I’d start off with one of the questions I get the most; How to make White Buttercream ❤️
This recipe is a simple american buttercream frosting of unsalted block butter, and icing sugar. You can flavour it if you wish, but for this, I started with the basic two ingredient frosting.
✨As I was making a larger amount I used 500g of butter, and 1000g of icing sugar. To cover 12 cupcakes you only need 200g/400g
✨Beat the room temperature butter for 10 minutes on it’s own
✨Add the icing sugar and beat well until combined
✨Add a minuscule amount of purple food colouring to counteract the natural yellow undertones of the butter (not a supermarket colour)
✨Too much purple colouring will turn the frosting grey, so you can see just had little you need to add
✨Beat again until thick and smooth
✨Stand mixers are easier and quicker, electric hand mixers will take longer, and just by hand will take ages and a lot of arm power
