San Francisco beaches don't fit the typical bikini bodies and boogie boards image of the Cali coast lifestyle. The weather is way too cold and foggy and the rough surf and rip currents are a bitch. But this certainly doesn’t stop the locals from showing up in their down parkas to enjoy a picnic on the sand or to do a bit of tide pooling. There’s this natural wild beauty of the coastline up here that makes the beaches in this area quite unique. Today we’re featuring three of the most popular beaches in this Best of SF list.

I am probably going to get comments about this but, yes, I did intentionally leave off Ocean Beach and Crissy Field Beach which arguably are much more popular than Fort Funston. However, this is a curated list and one of my end goals is to feature a variety of beach types. So if you're new to San Francisco, add those two to the list as well!

Hola! Love your vids. Living in San Mateo, moved here just over a year ago, usually go to HMB. Going to Stinson Beach Thursday for the first time. Will post pics. Thanks for the info.

True of Northern California 👍 Southern California is not so bad. A bit choppy and definitely on the chilly 🥶 side!
