Fountains are very common in ancient Indian forts and palaces. They used simple concept for this: Gravity There used to be a water channel or tank at the top of the building which provides fountains a high pressure and then water comes out with high velocity from fountain jets.

I usually didn't like historical/wartime movies but i remember watching this in the theatre with my fam and it was an experience. It captures each character's emotions perfectly (to the point where you struggle to decide who was entirely wrong), the music and bgm score was such a serve, the cinematography, the dialogues and lastly the acting, which I believe was a contributing factor for bringing in the essence of the movie was all mind blowing. Yes there many such places throughout india which are so beautiful and intricate built by marvel engineers , architects and mathematicians of different indian empires since thousands of years. Fountains were also present in the Mauryan empire which was lasted till 180 BC as per some descriptions. So yes indian engineers and architects were too advanced at that time even before the discovery of many western nations. If you visit india again you can see such monuments, temples etc mainly in southern eastern, western and central india as in northern india many such places were destroyed by the invaders.

The thing is, this movie was an adaptation of the Marathi Novel "Rau" (written by N. S. Inamdar). It was a fictional romance story between Peshwa Baji Rao I and Mastani, and the outrage it caused among the orthodox priests of the community. Thus, this movie also focused on the same romantic story that was written in the novel. Sanjay Leela Bansali gave that as a disclaimer at the start of the movie, that this movie was an adaptation of "Rau", and not a biography of Peshwa Baji Rao I.

Same ....the movie is undeniably beautiful to look at..But other than Kashibai, the characterizations in the movie are very wrong...We can also blame it on 'Rau' novel, which the movie is loosely based on, for romanticizing the non romantic relation between Bajirao and Mastani...there marriage was a political alliance and not a romantic one as Bajirao was very devoted to Kashi....And even though Mastani was never welcomed into the ShaniwarWada and the Peshwa household...what the movie shows is too much extravagant...no violence was ever committed against her...and her son Krishna Rao was treated with equal respect by the courtiers..and he was raised by Kashi after Mastani's death...He fought in the third battle of Panipat

@@sumo6199 That's actually a great idea. There is a lot of intrigue in the different empires, with emotional decisions, as well as tactful decisions setting the fates of said empires. The only problem is that the audience has become so intolerant, that they would attack the sets or call for boycotts based on some rumors. No matter how good some movie maker might make some movie, some idiot would say it "hurts his sentiments" and call for a ban on the movie. So producers are afraid to sponsor such good concepts, in fear that their money would be lost. They want to play safe.

About the locations: Bajirao's place is possibly Shaniwar Wada in Maharashtra and the place where the Mohe Rang Do Laal song was shot is a replica of the Amer Palace in Rajasthan. The knife thing: The knife thing was to cauterize her wound. He heats it up while talking to her, and places the hot knife on her wound to help it heal faster.

Bājirāo Mastāni is a true history. Your ignorance about this episode made your reaction even more interesting. Peshwā means Prime Minister in Persian. However, Peshwas in Marāthā Empire eventually became more powerful then its own Kings. Peshwa Bājirāo Ballāl was the 1st Peshwā from the Ballāl clan. Also, he stands as one of the most accomplished warrior in the world who never lost a single battle. He won 33 of the 33 battles that he actually fought. He was famous for his lightening speed. He relied on Cavalry and never carried heavy weapons. 06:41 The lit arrow was fired from the fort to signal Bājirāo, who's army was sitting ready to ambush, to initiate his attack from rear of mughal army as a surprise.

Well actual historic evidence show Peshwas betrayed Marathas, they were not a war heroes because no one actually fought on battle ground. Actual Credit held by Shinde, Pawar, Holkar etc.

@@harshalsonawane4696 Peshwas are Marāthas too. Our Chhatrapati Shivāji Mahārāj termed the 12 Baluti castes from Brāmhan to shūdra as One Marāthā. So your Marāthā definition fails here. Marātha empire spread throughout India because of Peshwās. I am an MoDi script expert and an historian. Hence, you cannot challenge me with false claims against any Peshwā. Also, your surname is an indication why you hate Peshwās. Also, Shinde, Pawar, Holkar came much later and were raised to power by the support of Nanasaheb Peshwa. These were mere soldiers during Bajirao Peshwā. The powerful Marāthā houses during 1st Peshwā were Dābhāde, Ghorpade, Bhosale. Just rise and get out of your reservation mentality and actually study instead of being casteist. By the way, in 1857, India's first war of Independence, it was your Shinde of Gwalior who were traitors in supporting british against India.

The reason that the peshwa's family wouldn't accept Mastani is because the Maratha empire's vision was a hindu dominant kingdom. Their mortal enemies were the Mughals (who were obviously Muslim) so having a muslim wife would tarnish the image of the Brahmin peshwa. The importance of religion and religious saints/gurus will be clearer in the later half of the movie when bajirao isn't present at the Brahmin bhoj (feast) which leads to further bitterness between them Hindu-Muslim alliances were common during mediaeval era (as a political tool ofc), but given the position of the Marathas and the Mughals, the affinity between Bajirao and Mastani was doomed from the very outset
