Baile Harghita (or Harghita Bai, meaning Harghita Bath, or Hargitafürdő in Hungarian) is a mountain spa resort located at about 1,300 m altitude in the high area of the Harghita Mountains. The resort is a neighborhood of the city of Miercurea Ciuc located 13 km (or 20 km by road) and has been developed in the area of mofetta (mofette, mofettes) and mineral springs used for treatment. The video presents the treatment base with mofetta, these being cold post-volcanic gaseous emissions, formed over 90% of carbon dioxide (CO2). The mofetta and carbonated mineral springs (of which we present two) are post-volcanic phenomena, the Harghita Mountains being volcanoes with eruptive activity extinguished 1-3 million years ago. They are also associated with kaolin deposits, clay rock formed by the action of volcanic gases and fluids and exploited in Harghita Bai until recently. In the last years the resort has developed a lot due to the excellent conditions for winter sports (ski slopes, skating, biathlon, snowtubing), but these are the subject of another video with a winter character. Accommodation facilities currently identified include a hotel ** (Ozun), two alpin chalets ** (Balu and Piatra Bufnitei), four pensions *** (Tirol, Mandala, Bella Vitae, Csiki), four pensions **, one cottage **, a motel ** and 17 villas and boarding houses **. From the hotel Ozun starts a cable car but which does not serve the tourists but only the transmission station located at the peak of Harghita Ciceu (1761 m) and where there are antennas visible from large distances. From the resort you can go on several mountain hikes with different lengths and difficulties, plus Balu, an adventure park with zipline.
