The temporal structure of both Bahubali movies is definitely interesting. The beginning of Bahubali: The Beginning actually occurs about 3/4ths of the way through Bahubali: The Conclusion, but it then becomes the true beginning of the duology (being told in flashback by Kattappa) - that of the story of Bahubali Sr. You definitely need to watch the Bahubali: The Conclusion to understand the whole duology and reach the actual conclusion (the last quarter of Bahubali: The Conclusion). [Plus it is great on it's own. Everything will then fall into place, such as the role of the Empress in the beginning in saving the baby.]

There's this weird idea in western society (I'm a westerner myself) that a female character has to be a fighter and nothing else otherwise it's sexist. So even though here the chatacter is showed to be a fighter and a revolutionary, when she enjoys for a little while being something else and just being a woman, you guys think it's sexist... But I think the real sexism is this idea that the scene where she is just a woman enjoying a man's attention is problematic... As to the darker skin of the enemies it's based on old Indian texts where the demonic enemies are described that way.

So I keep seeing comments across different Baahubali reactions from triggered fans talking about, "Why are Americans looking for _logic_ in the movie? Hollywood movies don't have logic, and you still like them! You would never comment on superheroes doing impossible things in Hollywood movies! Just turn your brain off an enjoy it!" Well, there are reasons for this: 1) Because their powers are EXPLAINED or ESTABLISHED. If you do not do either of these things in a movie - a character just suddenly has powers for no reason, and it is never explained "why" or "how" - then naturally, the viewer is going to ASK "why" and "how",and keep asking, because that is the _most important questions to answer_ for a movie to WORK. It is necessary to give the story substance and a strong foundation, and help the viewer suspend their disbelief. It is also easier to remember a movie that has a strong foundation, over a movie that just "has random cool stuff happening for no reason". (Because anyone can make that. Doesn't make it good.) 2) Hollywood movies that require a lobotomy before you go in (like _anything_ made by Michael Bay, for instance), not only usually fail at answering these questions, but are often just terrible movies, too. And further, as a consequence of lobotomizing oneself, the viewer has a harder time remembering what they just watched. I still don't remember the plot of Transformers 4, and I think there was King Arthur in that one...right? Or a dinosaur? Or Stanley Tucci??? Huh, how did my brain get all the way over there...get back here you... That being said, you CAN do cool stuff in a movie that is over-the-top and ridiculous, but still have it be awesome and fun. I think Baahubali found a nice balance (most of the time) between awesome and impractical, in a way that was fun but genuine, and could be enjoyed by people from different cultures across the world, which is _really_ hard to do. Sure, different people enjoy it for different reasons and in their own way, but you know, I've yet to come across a single person that's ever HATED it. ...In fact, I honestly don't think I've ever seen someone actually despise this movie at all. And that's pretty amazing. :)) Tl;dr Instead of being mad that you didn't get the reaction you wanted, be happy that people who are different from you still LOVE it, and are feeling encouraged to learn about cultures that are not their own :)

Read Bahubali before the beginning: Rise of Sivigami by Anand Neelkanthan. He's the part of bahubali team and he expanded the world of bahubali in his book with a Tolkien style map. It contains brief history of the kingdom of mahishmati, its various kings and feats. Netflix has purchased the rights to make tv series on that. There's also an Amazon prime animated series about the story happening when bahubali and bhallaladeva were young and were completing their education and were send on various missions around the kingdom as part of their training. Story tells how slowly bijjaldeva sowed the seeds of hatred in bhallaladeva about his brother. It's interesting to watch so check that out as well.

It's not sexist. It's lazy writing. Sexism is when the movie actively tries to degrade and belittle women. This just resorts to old tropes. Like the hero being motivated by the power of pheromones before understanding what a whimsical idiot he was... The woman falling for the hero just because he's the main character etc etc. You want a sexist movie? Watch the Tamil movie anniyan. (Aparchit in Hindi I think) or any of Shankar's masterpieces. Sexism, classism, casteism. You'll find all the -isms.

Nothing sexist about it. Generic or stereotypical is a better word.
