BAGYO KA LANG, PINOY KAMI! In English translation "We are Filipinos and you are just a typhoon!". Meaning, no one can beat or put a Filipino down not a strong typhoon nor any calamities and disasters. In Manila and in some areas in the Philippines had a constant of flooding whenever typhoon comes and the Filipinos already used to it. What they do instead of staying at home and make fuss out of it they go out and have fun in the flood. They treat the flood as a swimming pool, most Filipinos loves to swim even if some of them don't know how to swim, lol!

I love how they are so positive and have a good sense of humor, I have Filipino friends and I can tell how positive they are no matter the situation is.

4:42-4:59-- the man actually says: "hello guys! Since raining, lets try swimming in flood. Perhaps we need these gogles while swimming..." and the he did it...

Now a days, I've noticed that there's so many foreign nationals who love to make their reactions about Filipinos, Why? .... Philippines is situated in the Pacific Ring of Fire, hence it is visited with disasters such as typhoons, low pressures which causes flashfloods. In this regard, the country is used to these disasters. It's heartwarming to see positivity in the midst of these even if the possible damages could be worst.

Even the buildings are designed with flooding in mind. Concrete blocks, stucco, and concrete floors are common building materials. If it floods, you just clean the floor and walls. No dry wall to replace. No ruined carpet. In many other countries, a flood would require major repairs. There, many buildings just need a cleaning and they are habitable again.

I am an Eikaiwa teacher and I always tell my students about this kind of stuff. I experience enjoying swimming in a flood during my childhood. I don't know why, but most of us Filipino always find happiness in any situation.

Philippines is a very hot country, and I think by nature, we tend to enjoy swimming. So floods gives us the chance to swim without having b to go to the beach or a local pool, the whole neighborhood is your pool!

Fun fact for the foreigners: the video at 6:18 features an underpass, not a river. It rained so hard that it flooded the whole underpass in Morayta so the cars couldn’t pass through. Also, floods in the Philippines can actually be very severe and sometimes even take countless of lives. But after the storm has passed, I can’t say that I dislike the idea of everyone coming together outside, working together and exchanging supplies or stories about the storm. No electricity so everyone’s phones are out. We’d have no choice but to go outside and mingle with the neighbors. I was a teenager during Milenyo and Ondoy, so I took advantage of the situation 😅 I still remember what happened during those storms very clearly.
