Bagua Fighting Techniques and Applications 程派八卦掌打法 (Video taken in 2008)

Cheng Ting Hua, the founder of Cheng style Bagua palm, was good at Shuaijiao (the fast style of wrestling) before he learned Bagua palm from Dong Hai Chuan, so there are many takedown techniques and concepts in this Bagua palm style.
Mud steps circle walking is the basic training in this style which originally from the Taoist Qigong “Zhuan Tian Zun”, it can help to gain the two pairs of the opposite forces: centrifugal and centripetal forces; moving forward and retaining forces, and also can unblock the kidneys(pre-heaven) and spleen (post-heaven) meridians.

Check out Hai Yang's techniques. I've never studied with him, he's in Montreal and I'm from the west coast USA, but his techniques are definitely impressive in terms of his speed, control and ability to apply the principles in his fighting techniques. He's also Cheng Style Baguazhang. Check his Xingyi out too.

Shang Pu / Shuaì Jiào...i saw mobujia technique, guan, maybe lan tui... Chineese wrestling with différents stances, steps...well really chinese! But completly disconnect of reallity...street fight per example. Why this art very ancient are not efficient with western form combat the response it's simple you follow the art without blindly closed in your mind, in your tradition and you believes to honnored the ancient your father your sifu or lao she. No blame you, no, but i'm very sad cause i loved chinese's martial arts. The founders knew the good ways to take and knew how to do a right evolution and necessary evolution to still in time face in real combats against others styles... change it's not betrayed! Just to pursuive the master will. Just evolve and progress always built in the basics principles who made Ba Gua Zhang Time to born again 🤜✋ Li Ma Al Long

Yess!! Dong HaiChuan and YinFu worked for Royal Palace and regularly went to Mongolia to collect tax. Imagine how those proud Mongols wouldn't want to pay and he had to subdue and in the process he must have learnt a huge deal of ShuaiJiao as well from Mongols

That's why Bagua teaches you to move around in circles so that you don't get into tight space situations. And even if you were, it teaches you to be elusive and counter. Plus, it is based on wrestling, and wrestling is far more effective than boxing.

My God.. People are delusional if they think this is what Dong Hai Chuan fought like inside the palace walls. This looks just like form interpretation.. Not combat application of bagua.. I dare say that this lineage lost its combat art.. Just like most of the others. No idea about Bagua combat..
