The tattoo were inspired by the bisaya warrior the "manggubat" or the pintados, the tattoo's symbolize that you killed many enemies or won many battles mangubat were waging wars to its neigbor islands raiding like the vikings they even raid china. Being having a tattoo that time means that you accomplished something great the community will pay great respect to you

Lapulapu was a true warrior, and we all follow in his footsteps, and honour him, in our practise of Eskrima, and his victory against Magellan. The women stood next to the men then, and fought with true valour. This demonstration honours him and his victory. Amazing skills displayed by these fierce warriors!
