    you can run that motor with 750w controller all the time it wont have any problems . That is what factory rates it at 500w but every hub can take at least 30 % more. And you can run it at 48v and top speed would be higher

THE Brommie n Giant are cable brakes and the MTB is mechanical discs. I do not want complicated hydraulics and don't do steep off road so they are just not needed👍 I also have chainring adapters so I can change from the 46T provided to a range from 50T > 58T just changing the chains accordingly👍

    You can. The 250w version does 23mph out the box on a 36v battery. Easy. The 500w (which isnt obvious at all to police) looks similar to the 250w version, but will go waaay faster with the paired 48v battery. Want more speed. Stick a 52v battery on there… all while looking like youre on a small 250w motor, that isnt as bait or obvious as those large 1000w ones. Bafang do amazing kits. Soo much better than the higher wattage chinese knock offs.

    it should do 40km+ in higher gear, with pedaling, in my opinion the best one to get is 750- 1000 watt bfand motor, this is kind of slow all 500 watt bikes need a little bit more power for speed, but if you only desire to get somewhere faster, then 500w up to 40km speed is good enough, and at least it's safer, you are unlikely to die in an accident lol., where as 1000 watt motor can do 35mph

When realistically that motor should at least have a 48v battery with a 48/52v controller to get the most out of it. you can even throw a 52v battery on there. So no idea why he’s using a 36v on such a powerfull motor built for way more. If he ever upgrades his setup though, i’d be super interested to see the difference.

    Andrison Dias Yes you can. I weigh 160 pounds and pedaling my ebike with the motor off is not too hard; it doesn’t feel too heavy to me. On geared hub motors, they freewheel when the motor is off, so the motor doesn’t bog you down when it’s not running. This isn’t the case with gearless, so If you plan to bike without the motor sometimes, I’d get the geared models without a doubt. (All Bafang hub motors are geared)

    I want to know this aswell. I think it has to be mph. Because i have the 250w version of this kit on a 36v battery and it does 23mph out the box. Thats 37kmh. So theres no way this 500w motor is doing 35kmh. That would be even less than what my 250w does. So it must be mph. If not then he’s bottlenecking the hell out of that powerfull 500w motor with either a shit battery or shit controller. Or both!

    Thats baffling. I have the 250w bafang kit with a 36v battery and small 9A controller. And it easily does 23mph. If you have a 500w kit, that thing should be going ALOT faster. Unless your battery or your controller is off. With your 500w kit for good speeds you should be using at least a 48v battery with at 48/52v controller. If you decide to go even further and put on a 52v battery you’d easily be looking at about 4-5mph more speed than if you used a 48v battery. But the speeds youre gettin now are deffo waaay too low for what that motor can put out. Its capable of SO much more!!! Funny thing is I’ve seen these 500w bafang kits outperform even the budget chinese make 1000w kits. I lowkey feel like the bafang motors are actually waaay more powerfull than the company state on the label.

  • @aleksyanev

    @aleksyanev

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes, 500W is the nominal power, meaning the motor can handle greater wattage for short periods of time and the controller delivers it. 36V battery AFAIK will accelerate faster, but have lower max speed. 48V will accelerate slower, but with higher max speed. To keep the same wattage 48V should be configured to deliver lower current by the controller, hence the slower acceleration. The bike is a 29er which also affects the numbers when it comes to acceleration and max speed.

    Nope, must be at least 500w if it's a rear hub motor, but if you get a center drive motor, 250w should be enough because it is compensated by the gears.

    @@kaikart123 he might actually not be you know. Sure he may be off a bit. But i can honestly say my 250w bafang motor+36v battery does 37kph straight out the box. Plug & play no controller settings needed. So its honestly not too surprising if he has a 500w motor which is double the power, doing kinda close to those speeds. Especially if he’s pairing it with a 48/52v controller and 52v battery. He’d be going pretty frigging fast. Maybe not quite the speeds he stated, but deffo not that far off. I’m not sure what it is about bafangs motors but after owning one, i honestly think that they are way more powerfull than the label they slap on to them. Whereas the cheap chinese brand motors are actually closer to their labeled power, if not less sometimes. Which makes sense why i see some of these bafang 500w kits outperforming alot of these chinese 750w kits easily.

    no. 21mph. 35kph = ~21mph. This is a very good speed for city/suburban commutting. However, hub motors don't have a lot of torque for other terrains. If you're in an even slightly remote area with unpaved roads anywhere, you'll need at least 750w hub motor or 500w mid drive motor. The sweet spot for each of these types are 48v 1000w-1200w hub motors or 48v 750w-1000w mid drive motors. 1000w mid drive may be overkill, but the speed and torque are so worth it, since they're at the edge of the limits for what a decent bike can handle.

    @@originalrecipe6113good speed for commuting. Poor speed for a 500w motor thats capable of so much more. If My bafang 250w +36v battery can easily do 23mph out the box. This guys 500w motor should be doing WAY more. But he did say he’s using a 36v battery, meaning he’s also using a 36v controller+ he’s overweight which would severely bottleneck his speed a shit ton. Otherwise a 500w bafang motor should literally be flying! No lie. These things are waaaay faster than he demonstrated here. Scary fast! He just didnt set it up propperly. For most people an actual properly setup 500w motor is more than enough. Too fast even.
