Kim Inhye information about MTG could be a little misguiding. Her popularity skyrocketed after the 7th episode (Dance unit), an amazing stage where Soyeon's grade worked with 3rd grade (3rd grade had the best dancers on the show). She started to climb like 10 ranks per stage. She reached rank 14 and even managed to reach rank 9 during an interim rank, but as you know on survival shows these sudden climbs aren't reflected directly. She practically got eliminated with a previous rank, making the climb totally useless. Fans got really upset about it. Additionally, she was on Soyeon grade and even had a stage doing Uh Oh from I-dle, which obviously Soyeon directed. Adding a little fun fact, she went viral for having some crazy abs, especially during her Uh Oh stage. Yunseo also was insanely popular during MTG, she is a good rapper/visual and even managed to be in the top 7. In the last episodes, she lost a 1v1 battle against Hyeju (Classy leader and main dancer), one of the best 1v1 stages in the show in my opinion. It was interesting because Soyeon worked on a rap unit stage with Yunseo (Soyeon grade and 3rd grade worked together), but for this 1v1 battle, she trained Hyeju (Soyeon grade) for it.

​@user-nn1ho1ee5e XG promotes on Korean music shows, so they are seen by a lot of kpop stans who probably request them and word spread about how good they are. As for the music, I would call it pop. It's always in English, so I wouldn't say it's kpop or jpop. It's more hip hop/r&b than anything imo.

@@user-nn1ho1ee5e they promote in Korea, their company is in Korea, they were trained in the kpop system, they promote on kpop shows in Korea etc. Yes they have JP members and the songs are mostly in English (even tho many of their things are trilingual) but they are as much kpop as it can be in everything else. Kpop is an industry, not bound to nationality or language.

I guess this is a different timeline where XG doesn't exist anymore? XG did the same exact concept already before their debut 2 YEARS AGO. Check out XG MOVE #1-3

Weird fans make it a competition by weaponizing who did what better, who sold more, who charted better, who looks better in order to either slander someone who isn’t their fav or try & prove they they are somehow inferior & their fav is better. Just enjoy it if you enjoy it & move on if you don’t.
