yes. i have seen grip marks on my strings until i started playing with the limit screw on the WISE gripper. after carefully adjusting the limit screw i noticed the grip marks are now gone.

firstly, i string for feel. i have narrowed down my flow using the flying clamps and found that give the most lively and repulsive feeling so i just stuck with it. it is no use to use another "better" tool if the feeling i get isn't comparable. i also find that the flying clamp is more gentle on the string. having said that though, i am always experimenting with my flow and i might revise my it if i find one that give even better feeling.

it was mainly for convenience and also see my reply to David Pham. it works, so i didn't want to "fix" it. :)

i would still suggest getting the one with fixed clamps. as there are situation that is much easier with fixed clamps.

I have the same machine and tensioner and wondering why don't you use the starting clamp that's included with the machine to start the mains instead of clamping with fixed clamp? (Not sure if that makes sense)?)

Also, the wise2086 seems to chew the 85s a bit. Do you find this is true with your WISE?
