Badly Rusted Spring Divider Restoration - Old Tools Restoration

Rusty Old Tool Restoration videos and more antique tools are coming -
We work here with normal tools not heavy tools! bit.ly/36YxIjd
latest video: • Japanese Ratchet Screw...
This rusty lockable Spring Divider was previously utilized by my father in his carpenter workshop, also it's called as a drawing compass.
I found it in old abandoned tools area. I work with plenty of efforts and energy to restore this antique Divider to make it awesome.

This is impressive work. You should do wire brushing instead of sand paper by grinder. overall its amazing.

@@WrongBrothersRestoration I'm guessing that he is commenting on your technique, which, although effective was a bit brutal as compared to other restorers one sees on youtube. For example, you could have used electrolysis and saved a lot of metal, or Evaporust, again reducing the amount of grinding you'd need to do to a bit of hand sanding. One comment I'd make is the new knob you made on the lathe has a very large diameter. The reason the diameter is small is because it is easier to twirl when rotating it. Like when you have to spin a screwdriver fast to take up a lot of un-engaged threads, you spin the shank rather than the handle. Then you use the handle for tightening. Ultimately, there are a lot of ways to the top of the mountain and if you are satisfied with your results then that is what matters, not the opinions of others.

@@seanmcentee4454 There were some dents on it and Electrolysis will not level it, at the end i need to do sanding. Thats why i started sanding at first. There are some more details left to do, but we did our best. More videos coming with more better way.

@@WrongBrothersRestoration well, i think your showing how to restore without more modern methods is good because anyone trying to restore something can see how to do it with just hands and basic tools.. even the electric powered tools could have been hand powered if someone doesn’t have electricity OR electric tools. i especially appreciate how you take the time to calmly and slowly show us every viewing angle of a procedure and result! i like this video and hope you make more! thank you for this!
