It’s likely that every time Madeline gets close enough, Badeline pushes her back. She doesn’t want that “comfort”. She just wants Madeline to give up and go home, but Madeline doesn’t want to.

That scene at the end where she thinks Madeline is getting rid of her is actually rather sad. In a way, Badeline thinks she's about to "die" more or less. Because there's no reasonable way that Madeline could have 'set her free' without causing that part of herself to be lost forever, which still would have hurt her.

what other series has this theme??

The game has 2 major powerups, the feather, and the 2nd dash. And both of them are tied to really powerful moments in the story. The fact that these are what gives Madeline extra strength and abilities in the game also has a ton of emotional weight to it and I can't remember any other game doing that so well.

I think she's still trying to kill you. Keep in mind most of the blocks break after moving, so she could just be trying to destroy your platforms, not expecting madeline to actually get on them

I don't really full-on cry to media, but ngl this part made me tear up a little. As someone with diagnosed anxiety & ADHD (and probably some OCD symptoms), it really struck me how Madeline doesn't even just accept the fact that she has depression, but she openly loves herself and validates her own emotions, just without losing hope or over-dwelling. This game really means a lot to me now.

As someone with parents and family that seem to shun you every time you show emotion, I felt this. It can feel even more trapping and bad because sometimes you want to make family happy. But when you want to show emotion or something, you just can’t. I feel like me as a man with adhd and struggles with a hit of depression, this hit me in the feels

The line I love the most is that Badeline says that she’ll try to stay away. They are linked as one, and even if Madeline continued to want her gone, badeline would always be around, just even more suppressed than before, and always trying her hardest to ostracize herself

This is when celeste became my favorite game. If I could, I would marry this game.

My favorite section of the game. The pace, platforming, story, and music are awesome

This was the moment that solidified the fact that Celeste is a 10/10 for me. Gameplay, story and music perfectly intertwine in this emotional moment.

cleste fans after getting crippling anxiety so they can climb the theoretical mountain of recovery

Possibly one of the greatest boss fights in indie gaming industry!!

Badeline represents bad thoughts. Al regrets and self doubts that hold you back and prevent you from being better.

This is the best final boss ever... it's my opinion.
