"This era of rick was better" "no this era was" mf all era of rick is peak. His character development was fan-fuckin-tastic, there wasn't a moment where he sucked, he has been fully consistent in his characteristics and mannerisms. Every era and season of rick is the best.

He wasn’t crazy. Rick was only crazy in season 3 after Lori died. His head was clear as day in season 5. That’s what 4x16 is trying to convey. He’s learned to balance his compassion with his brutality. He no longer questions himself in season 5 he has a clear conscience and has no problem being violent in order to keep his family safe. Season 5 is where Rick steps up as the leader it’s the best part of his character development.

Negan was not playing, he wouldve killed everyone Rick knew in one sweep if Rick kept trying to be ballsy. Season 5 Rick was just lucky they had back up from Carol. because they would’ve died.

S4-6 were the prime time of TWD, we really got to see each character grow more into the apocalyptic world and even grow more as people, Rick is definitely my all time favourite antagonist of any show, he really was complex!

His mentality was becoming too brutal for his own people, let alone the ones that were in Alexandria before him and his group got there. In a world like that, you need killers. And that’s what he was at that point, a leader but more so a killer and he had to be in order to make it. I think had they never found the safety of that town, he would’ve eventually been worse than the saviors ever thought about being.

Morals are part of our humanity for sure but morals have to be cast aside once you’re met with other people. It’s not so black and white as you say it is. Like the cannibals, they were horrible people but they were desperate survivors. I ain’t gonna defend them just like how I won’t defend Rick. It’s not good guys or bad guys, those are things we label in our head. These are people trying to survive, like how Rick and his group as well as Alexandria are not good guys or bad guys. To Alexandria, the Saviors were enemies. Nothing more, nothing less. Holding onto your humanity is something that’s difficult to do in a world filled with death and suffering. Which is why being kind of a monster is necessary in The Walking Dead. You either become a survivor to ensure your survival and others if there are survivors you travel with. But if you don’t get out of your pussy hole, you end up as food for the walkers or you’ll be at the mercy of other survivors. Morally, all of the shit above that talks about trying to survive and the lengths you’ll go to for survival is something that’s always gonna make you a murderer no matter what. When people say someone is evil for doing something, you have to analyze what it is they’re doing. You could call someone evil if they’re doing something for their own self interest that doesn’t benefit their survival.

8:16 all the way up to this point you can really see how he's struggling to re-integrate himself back into a society, the sheer urge to control the rage; just goes to show how feral a man can become once he has desensitized the act of violence.

One of the greatest characters to grace a television set.

Rick is the epitome of a man who is willing to do ANYTHING to protect his own.

Rick was at his prime in Season 5. He descended back into an almost feral state, intent on protecting his pack and not afraid to exchange his humanity to do so. Even Negan admitted that he wouldn't have provoked that version of Rick.

“put your guns on the floor and kneel” is such a good line to me the way he delivers it is so good like he’s a cop again but a fucking badass one at that!

Rick S5, Shane S2, Merle S3, Daryl S9, Glenn S3, Abraham with truck, Michonne with sword, Gabriel S11, Morgan S8, Aaron with robot arm, Elijah with mask, Maggie S11, Sasha with sniper rifle, Carol with recently deceased child. All character primes and when they are not to be f*cked with.

what i love about characters like Rick is their strength, they face the worst, walk through hell, they carry the terrible weight of leadership and stand as a pillar of courage and conviction.

You can tell that Andrew Lincoln put on a lot of muscle for the later seasons, he was pretty skinny in season 1 and 2

I love how most of the scenes is just him standing around and looking---he just radiates authority by doing nothing to show it.

you know it's over when rick tilts his head sideways

I just binged this season and then took a walk up the mountains in Austria while drunk… never felt more like a primate in my entire life😂

Still makes me chuckle every time that I re binge the show or if I watch the clip of it on here whether it’s a rick compilation or watching ppl react to the episodes for the first time especially when rick says it’s hard to trust anyone who smiles after getting punched in the face😂 I remember when that episode first aired. Season 5 Rick Grimes was the definition of fuck around and find out. Andrew Lincoln deserved an Emmy for his portrayal of Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead. Hopefully we get to see more of Season 5 and 8 Rick in the new spinoff.

2:49 cut out the best part of this scene where he just dead-stares and guides the gun with every headbob the guy does. Absolute animal.

Man I LOVED season 5 out of all the series of TWD. Surviving on the road showed how dangerous outside was and how freaking strong the group was by overcoming the challenges. Of course, they did lose some people, but it was very bad ass moment for them.

I think it's because they were all firing at walkers and they thought he was firing alongside them. As far as the yell, idk, people yell when they fire guns sometimes I guess, especially when scared.

If the clips were cut better you could see how they all were firing as he took him by surprise and then shot them, which explains why they didn't notice. I expected more dialog but just saw a lot of stares without context at times.
