So Azrael starts with his classic Blue and Yellow armor with the cape. As he goes crazier he starts adding more armor and ditches the cape and upgrades the helmet into the blue version you see here as the Platinum. When hes fully lost it he gets engulfed in flames and comes out with the armor colored red. I guess we can assume it burned off the paint. But it was more symbolic of him losing his mind completely and becoming someone Batman needed to take down. So its basically 1st Armor - Hero 2nd Armor - Antihero 3rd Armor - Villain

This suit always made me think of what a batman suit crossed with Predator armor would look like!

You didn’t like this character when you were a kid. That right there made me feel super old.😩

The blue suit was the original appearance of the armor but after sustaining damage throughout his fight with Batman and the mob, the paintjob would peel off over time, revealing a red finish underneath. That's how he gets the red armor, which he sticks to wearing in the climax of Knightsend where Batman beats him by luring him into the caverns of the Batcave, forcing him to remove his armor and then blinding him with light (Azrael was using night vision), while helping him reconcile his issues. Funny you mention about not liking Azrael, since the whole point of his character is to make you appreciate OG Batman vs an edgy 90s version in the form of Azrael so you weren't wrong for feeling that way at the time. 👍 I will say that I do prefer the red version, so I'm glad it's the regular edition.

I could not agree more about the alternate hands, they totally should've come with a 2nd pair of clawed hands!

Dope figures and design. The first release will always be my favorite, I'm still kicking myself in the butt for my jumping on it when I had the chance.

When Azrael becomes Batman, he immediately starts modifying the suit to slowly become more "Azrael". First with claws. Then, with the armor suit. Then, with a flamethrower (reminiscent of his flaming sword), helmet, etc. And finally, the red coloring. Azrael was subconsciously trained with "The System" that takes over his body and makes him an ultimate fighter but it also makes him crazy. He often did things he didn't remember. He probably didn't even remember the red armor under the blue paint.

the Platinum blue version is already listed at $100+ on ebay. but you knew that when Todd sent it to you. for that money, i'll get the Mafex figure.

This base body should be the gold standard for McFarlane going forward. Speeding Bullets, Parallax, and AzBats just proportions, sculpting, and overall silhouettes are the most comic book and superhero that mcfarlane has done. Honestly they might be the best in the $20-25 range.

I'm happy they fixed Batman 500's colors. The colors were far too light. I hope they can reissue the first with these colors.

He looks great. I had the Walmart one for a short time, but sold it due to hating the baby blue color. I want the Platinum blue suit, but don’t want to have to buy multiples to MAYBE get it. I never liked the red as a kid, still don’t like it now.

the glazing is wild

I always thought Az-Bat's main color was blue, since I usually saw him wearing it. But then again, I missed out on Knightfall back in the day, so perhaps it was red originally.

It was blue for the most of the story. During Azrael's fight with Bruce at the end of Knightsend, he accidentally lights himself on fire, which turns his suit red.

Managed to get my hands on the black "White Knight" version a few years ago. Couldn't imagine we would get the Knightfall version last year. Pre-ordered the red Knight's End figure as soon as it was available. I NEED the blue one. And if i get it, it might be the first time i buy a figure but don't display it

In addition to the ammo straps and leg pouches the helmet is missing a red detail above the eyebrow.

I’m curious to know your thoughts on the Platinum/Chase figures. To me, it sucks that the recent Platinum figures are the ones most people want. Specifically this blue Azbat and the brighter colored Wonder Woman.

Randomly. If you ordered the red, you MIGHT get the blue instead. You also might find it in stores but there's little chance of that.

Hey man, any chance you could do a hand swap with one of these and the previous McFarlane AzBat & the Curse of the White Knight AzBat? Trying to see if those open clawed hands would work on these.

it feels incomplete, but for the first time i feel that a mcfarlane looks how it. should mostly (it has an extra pouch piece and should have bicep armor) i wish it was more painted more accurately and was more accurate because this is ok not GOOD GOOD but ok 7.5\10 and MCFARLANE PLEASE STOP MESSING THE DESIGN AND ACCURACY if you want to make figures accurate from the comic panels do it or if you want to make a line that looks uniform and stylized like marvel legends ( but with the todd take ) do it too BUT NOT IN BETWEEN make red suit batman in your own way but don't say that this is kinightfall or taken from frames, if it's not supposed to be accurate don't try to play us and just market it as it, it's good but it's not what is supposed to be and this happens with EVERY figure, the hellbat was totally changed, the terry mcginnis Batman was totally changed, the knightfall batman with the long ears and extremely long cape was changed, the medieval knight batman was changed and nobody wants it, people want accuracy and some people like me do love your own designs and takes so SEPARATE THE THINGS!

I'd get the gold if it wasn't price raised.

I said it before and I'll say it again: If anyone knows cool it's Todd McFarlane and Russ Akin. They have some minor faults but they look cool as hell sitting on your shelf, and that's what counts. By the way, I like the red one best.

Im just not a fan of this design... the aesthetic, OR the color pallette. It looks too busy and a bit generic with that helmet. I like the first edition WAY better. I think it just cuts a better silhouette. And I like the more Batman looking head sculpt. Not hatin' on anyone who digs these tho, to each their own. Thats just my personal opinion. Sik

Brilliant yet messed up scheme. Have the blue version platinum so that people buy a crap ton of red versions hoping to get a blue one.
