Bad UK Driving Vol 342
Just the usual bunch of rule Breakers in this video.

My grandfather always called careless drivers Sunday drivers and now I am amazed how many Sundays there are in the week😂

'Sunday Drivers'. They are the breed that are not particularly bad drivers but they are SLOW drivers. Taking the family out for a drive at the weekend involved no speeding, wrong lane, pushing in or mini roundabouts but motoring at the speed of a tortoise - or slower - was the desired forward projection. My dad was one for a 'leisurely trip around the countryside' before returning home for a vast Sunday roast dinner.

Might actually be an A30 which had trafficators, this one doesn’t appear to have the orange indicators between the headlights and bumper, difficult to see the rear window which would clinch it as an A35 though. The earlier A30 had a much smaller almost crescent shaped window and no flashers, the later A35 also had a much wider, lozenge shape semi-wrap around rear window.

@@melissanewton7462 The majority of roads in Devon are the same, as per the original post its pretty common to have both wing mirrors touching the hedges in even a relatively small car, many of the A roads are like the roads at the beginning at 1.25minutes and a 60mph limit so long as everyone stays tight to the hedge its normally alright, meeting a 40 tonne truck involves rubbing the hedge, locals just get on with it. Its now getting into tourist season so we can expect to see camper vans and caravans having to be dragged out of some place and a good collection of wing mirrors on the road from drivers who have no idea how wide their vehicle is. Some people have no idea how to reverse either so often it is quicker to reverse 150m than expect someone else often a tourist to reverse 5m.

It's a wonder that the last clip that vehicle was not pulled up (A) insecure load (B) the indicator that is considered a construction and use act and M,O,T failure. Some of the police officers who served with my late father used to say find one fault go over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb and see how many more you can find. One thing I was always taught that if there is the possibility of missing the junction you need go up to the next either turn around or find another route any Sat-nav will automatically recalculate the route

Another great video Tony. Always fun to take passengers from North America down our country roads in Kent, especially the ones with high banks & trees over the top - in my experience they can't believe what is happening - "how do you know who has to go backwards" is the usual question
I came on to say Fantasy Island too - but see a few folk have already mentioned it!! 😂 Another great selection of clips Tony, hubby & I were laughing so much at some of your commentary 🤣 🤣
Still a short supply of manners and common sense, you could make a fortune on that - "The Common Sense Body Spray" or "Eua de Manners". The last guy even though it was a bit of fun, didn't have a net/cover over his load, very naughty.

As aways, a quality video. Thank you Tony. I have just had a week covering for Avonmouth down in (surprise) the west country, and had to use single track roads like your example.... great fun with a 3.5. ton Renault Master based long wheel base van... keep up the good work bud, cheers from Richard in Worthing 👍👌😎
I have and drive a big cylinder mower, 8ft 6"" wide when "folded" up. The roads round us are like that lane. The number of cars, including locals who will never give way. I just stop and wait. Especially when they have just passed a wider bit.
1:32 I drive my coach regularly round your way Tony. Sutton Holiday Inn Express is my second home. Everything is correct, but I love seeing THAT roundabout on here. And the mad mile is exactly that. The good thing thing is I can get a Morleys takeaway. We don't get them up North! Keep the videos coming mate - somebody has to fly the flag for decent drivers.
I'm very late to the Party 🎉 but does it matter? @20:33 lmfao Tony although I would've been tempted to overlay a few notes from the 🎶 Tubular Bells........ unless I'm thinking of a different 🎥. Well; those narrow lanes do sort out the decent drivers from the cretins 😂. As for the Car Wax....... rofl. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
In the country road part, I was picturin' some guy, drivin' down there, in a huge, 1970s American road barge (e.g. a Cadillac).
Dee Plane Boss, Fantasy Island! I had an Aldi tailgater today, first chance it got overtook and roaring off. There's a Lay by and cars are notorious for pulling out, one pulled out bingo! He ended up in the Lay by up the grass bank, damn didn't have the dashcam on I know you'd have enjoyed that as much as I did.
As a film actor, I'm pretty sure I recognise that on six minutes, that's a film location where the white trucks are turning. Those are the kind of trucks they use for film equipment such as lighting. The TMFT on the little pink sign will be the initials of the production.
Many thanks for sharing this entertaining video Tony. That’s made my Monday afternoon!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Spare a thought for the gritter drivers, some of the roads are so small that the mirrors are hitting hedgerows both sides of the road and these can go for miles. You're 100% correct, it's only a few drivers that should never go on these roads.

Londoners moving to the westcountry has ruined our roads, they treat them like they were a Disney park and go at 20mph tops or keep going when oncoming traffic stop and cause a cork into bottle routine and expect others to reverse for them!

The trouble is that city people who you meet on these narrow roads have no idea how to deal with it, some can’t even bloody reverse, and if you confront them, then you become the problem with them!
I’ve spent years as a delivery driver on roads like this and the one thing that annoys me is when you get to a passing bay and you are the first one there it doesn’t matter what side of the road it is on go in it. Just because it’s on your right doesn’t mean you wait in the middle of the road for the oncoming vehicle to meet you and they pull into it. The first vehicle there pulls in that means the approaching car doesn’t have to slow down and both of you are on your way quicker.
Thise narrow country roads are where you find out how few people can reverse a car without ending up in a bush
I like those roads
Very entertaining as usual .Especially on the country roads.
Brilliant that you had the terminal 2 drop off segment (& nicely coincidental for me🙂). I need to drop a friend off at 3am on Thursday morning. And I was stressing! Not stressing now. Thank you 👍
as for 'taught incorrectly', I lost count of the number of 'instructors' that would tell their pupils "it's just a bike, ignore him". this is probably why a lot of cyclists and motorcyclists get hit by new drivers. I allways used to lean in and tell the pupil, "pay attention to every road user, you don't want to be reponsible for hospitalizing someone, do you?"

There is an arched bridge around the corner from my workplace, 90% vehicles go through fine… because there is a sign up “high sided vehicles use the middle of the road” you tend to get certain drivers suddenly swerve their range rovers into the middle into a collision course after noticing this sign 🙄

I loved these sorts of roads when I lived in britain, absolutely wonderful. then I came back to france and noticed two things ; the roads are far wider, apart from in little medieval villages, and driving standards are awful. tailgaiting and overtaking tailgaiters are the major cause of collisions here.
Absolutely loved the drive down the country road!! I follow Cloudmaker who drives an HGV down those lanes and backs into fields off them sometimes!! I wouldn't want to drive them in my truck, let alone an HGV!! Fantasy Island!!
Those 'narrow' roads in the second clip are normal wide roads where I live. We also have boar, deer and sheep on ours.

I had the same problem in my local village with a car and trailer showing different indicators between the car and the trailer. Car was indicating right and the trailer was indicating left.
Here in the wet west country we have lots of small lanes and the people use our village as a rat run to avoid traffic. The drivers on the narrow lanes bomb down them at 50+ and you are forced off the road by them sometimes and my boss gets pissed when his Bentley has to drive up the grass verge🤣🤣
17:08 He seems to have an indicator bulb out too 🙄
Totally agree with your opening bit of philosophy. Why the hell create traffic jams on an otherwise clear piece of road. It's a blight that spans the length and breadth of the country and also creates more pollution. Bloody crazy.
Hi the London dash cam thank you for a fantastic video keep them up 👍

Great videos ❤
Very philosophical at the beginning. In the Highlands and islands of Scotland on the numerous narrow roads they have regular and clearly marked"passing places".It works very well. Do beemers have their own special self entitlement cream?
I was most disappointed not to find the Entitled Driver Wax in your merch store as I drive a Vauxhall Tigra, which is technically a German car produced in the Opel factory! I need my entitlement as much as the Audi, BMW, Mercedes and VW drivers!
The car you did not recognise @10:15 is an Austin A30. I have some photos I took over 10 years ago of one in a garage the same colour as the one you saw.
Austin A40 I think, the peanut
Left goes left and right goes right, get it wrong, your driving is shite! Love your content and observations Tony and I can’t understand why your likes seem to be so low. You’re the man, man. Keep ‘em coming man! Seriously, always great content with accurate observations. Driving licenses now direct from any cereal box. If only the tests from the 70’s and 80’s were still applicable?
Try driving in the Hollywood Hills, Sliverlake, La Canada, in Los Angeles. Same thing, all within a county of 10 million people.
When we were in the uk, we drove. We did not have a clue where we should be in relationship to places, and we were in a hire car, so we had to just hope for the best! BTW no sat nav in 2013.
Those country lanes are the sort I learnt to drive on down here in Devon, They're easy enough until either the A30 or A38 gets closed and then hundreds of people who aren't that sure about that type of road start using them to detour around
You are really lucky you didnt encounter a berk in a Merc on those narrow country lanes; I did many years ago. The road was single width for 500+ metres, with one pull-in 100m in from my direction; then it opened out into 2 full sized lanes for another 100m before meeting an A road. I was well past the pull-in when the berk pulled off of the main road, drove along the two lane section - drove ONE FUCKING CAR LENGTH into the single width lane, then started tooting at me to back up; as by that point I had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting her. So I applied the hand brake, switched off the engine and picked up the paperback I always keep in the car. It took her a good 10 minutes of tooting and screaming at me, but she did eventually back up and let me through.
1:39 There was a sign on the floor saying Slow as well
I have seen so many cars towing trailers/caravans where the lighting is all cocked up, does no one ever do the mandatory light check before towing, The wiring for said trailers/caravans is and has been industry standard for many years now, and in most modern cars they have a block connector for the wiring harness, how hard is it to follow simple instructions for wiring up a tow hitch electrics ? and there are even tools to plug in and assist you in making sure they are correct before you tow. PS also some HGV's have trailer light issues too
Luckily I only had such narrow roads only once when I did my civil service and only when going from one village to a specific other directly after each other. Also you could see upon the next broadening. Almost never had any problem there, cant really recall bigger ones.
Lived in the country all my life , and all the roads are the same , the worst drivers are the Yokels , who go round the blind corners at speed not giving way to on coming vehicles, they only stop when they hit a tractor up the back ouch .😂😂😂😂
I used to drive on these sorts of roads in a Vauxhall Frontera with big tyres wow. From those roads like seen here to.motorways and even bad snow. Was well worth it. I've driven over 40 cars in 50 years of driving this year.
30:16 always remember, a learner can be on a mock or actual driving test, where the instructor won't intervene unless there is actual danger
Forget the M25, lanes like this are the norm down here in Devon.
That's the Ratmobile at 10:16, Roland Rat had one.
1:50 And, ha, ha, the NSL is 60mph on them. Not that I've ever seen anyone even come close to it.
The old car was an Austin A30 or A35. Where can I buy a can of that Special Polish as I want to cut a dash in the outside lane ? Frosty.
Traffic calming measures are just waste of time as are mini roundabouts as some drivers just do have a clue how to use them
I think those pinch points at the beginning are traffic calming measures to slow down the traffic to ensure it keeps the the 20 mph limit. But I guess that it did anything but calm you down!!! It's not only creating traffic that is annoying, but it is the slowing down and then speeding up and it is this that causes pollution. 20 mph in populated areas is a good idea as you are more likely to go at an even speed and hence create less pollution that is limit is 30 and you keep going from 30 to 10 and then back to 30 again.
I live in the country side , Most of the 4x4s don't or won't move over, they don't want to get their tyres muddy ❤..
Its rare to see a 4x4 out in the country roads these days. as all the football moms and dads use them in the city.
Try driving the Devon roads. High hedges, narrower roads and tractors all over the place.

First video, I call them bus stops or chicanes (that's what they are called on race tracks) council fit them as a traffic calming measure. My guess is people use it to speed through as a shortcut. I bet people were doing 35mph and it looked like a 20mph zone. Don't blame the council blame the idiots who used to speed through there.
