    The HIAB delivery lorry should have a second driver or drivers mate, fully trained as a " Banksman ". This staff member can then assume traffic control for these situations and allow priority to the disabled lady on path for a moment over traffic. Ramp right there at front for her to traverse vehicle safely if Banksman had been in place.

    Selfish & impatient drivers🙄 That lorry making a delivery: dangerous & inconsiderate with the attitude that I have to do my job & fu@k you. Not allowed to park & block the footpath without a proper council authorised suspension, not allowed to stop on double yellow lines even for a delivery. There should also be a wood block under every jack to prevent damage to the pavement & road. The woman on the mobility scooter would be lucky not to get killed trying to get around the obstruction. Of course not a police officer in sight.

  • @IndigoJo

    With regard to the truck on the footpath, with a crane lifting heavy items across the footpath there is a need to close the footpath and divert the pedestrians, that requires cones and signage. There should also be a taper of cones directing traffic around the support leg, in NZ there would need to be a one metre safety zone between the leg and traffic and on a road that narrow would necessitate a lane drop and therefore either traffic lights or stop/go operatives at each end.

    2:50 I think with the lorry, yeah a cone could be out in the road maybe, I get what you mean, say you go to move over right to avoid the stand, someone behind you, who would be right up your arse would think at the last second, why are they moving over so far, which means they can't see it and could lead to an accident. I think it's common sense to approach with caution, but in this modern age, you could see someone hitting it and thinking, blame = claim. You'd like to think any sane insurance company or judge would throw it out, but I see the healthy and safety point, leaves people wide open to get hurt or cause an accident. edit, as for the old dear, they have probably left a whisker to squeeze through or left a legal obligation for 1 person at a time through, but this also comes back to people parking on pavements, shouldn't be allowed, wheelchairs, prams and kids shouldn't have to deal with this nonsense.

    There needs to be a system where any company causing an obstruction like that jib truck should be made to apply for a permit and meet safety requirements. They are making money for their business so should bear the cost of traffic and pedestrian interruption. This one isn't anywhere near the worst I've seen but shouldn't be like this.

    what if because at her age, she couldn't see that far down the pathway?. Path should either 1) be clear for people to pass or 2) make a path with cones around the van for people to get passed If people cant get past your big lorry, then the big lorry shouldn't be there to begin with. Lorry Drivers delivery isn't the problem of the public who need to use the sidewalk Either make it safe, or don't park there.

    Masons Bridge Road near East Surrey Hospital still has a sign post warning of a road closure from the 17th March for 7 days, that you can see on Google's Street View (dated from April 2023). It's now April 2024. That sign warning of a road closure... is _still_ there. Over _ONE YEAR_ after the road opened. There was also a time last year, around October, when there were signs warning that the A22 would be closed from November between the A25 roundabout, and Junction 6 of the Motorway in Godstone. But that was referring to a closure that happened in November _2022!_ that was left there, almost an entire year. I don't understand it. Why do they somehow take the effort to put all these warning signs up but.... don't even _bother_ to take them down?

And the man hole dodger, maybe he's got a headache from going over too many manholes. Where I live normally manholes are an island in a massive pot hole, so it's subliminal thinking that I avoid them. And when I'm sitting in traffic now, without fail there is someone on their fucking phone. Lorry parked on path, the support leg in the road is dark and almost invisible, gonna get hit. Signs left after road works finished is what leads to drivers ignoring them when works not finished. Years and years ago, idiots couldn't afford a car but unfortunately nowadays they can and so infest the roads with their poor driving; how do they pass their driving test, you have to wonder?

  • @smilerbob
    @smilerbob3 ай бұрын

    While not ideal I do actually see dropped kerbs either side of the road where the lorry is parked making a delivery, and before you question anything I did say not ideal 😉 However, there are rules around blocking a pavement and those rules dictate that alternatives should be made available even if it means putting out a temporary coned path with ramps for access. This is usually for planned works so not sure if delivering is covered by the same restrictions I would have thought this would be the same as having a skip on a public road where it requires a council issued permit, but who deals with such paperwork these days? Slows the job down 😁

    Regarding the truck driver on the pavement: I used to do this kind of work a few years ago and some builders' merchants provided us with cones to put out to keep drivers off the support legs in circumstances like this. Maybe this driver only had one; not sure. He shouldn't have the leg touching the pavement by itself; they have big square 'pads' that are supposed to go under the support leg but some drivers think they're only for use on soft ground.

There are some 'temporary' signs for change of speed limit I see everyday that are clearly no longer required (as they have removed the black bags off the real signs) but the temporary ones must have been there for at least 2 months now.

    3:18 are you taking the mick? Just 50 metres up the road there is another dropped kerb and central island she can cross at. She came from that direction so she should have thought about how to get round the lorry before approaching. With regards to the lorry, there should have been a warning at least 100 yards back up the road advising of caution and with regards to the stabalizer in the road, it has yellow/black caution markings on the arm making it legal. Also if you can't see this in the middle of the road at 20mph you need your eyes checking or licence handing back in my opinion.

    @@paulgreen758 I don't know anyone like that they're either dead or wear glasses. Also i'm sure to ride one of those mobility scooters you need semi-decent eyesight as to not be a danger or a liability.

    Do you know why the police don’t do anything what you report because they don’t want to listen to your voice and everything about you and you talk ball, mostly I’m literally a driver instructor

    2:15 mind your own bloody business.. they are doing their job, why moan at them .. They are just people trying to earn a fucking living .. Life is hard enough as it is without busy bodies having a fit because they didn't put 1000 cones out or paint their support leg bright pink/ neon yellow/lime green ... BTW it is up to the CAR DRIVERS (Hazard awareness ..as you always like to spout) .. to make sure they are aware of the support leg ...

    Sadly these days Councils no longer do signage for Roadworks this is done by "professional" Traffic Management Company`s, that`s why you see all those little flat-bed trucks running around loaded with cones etc with the amber lights constantly running. Driving a Range Rover makes you TOTALLY superior to all other road-users and therefore have top priority in every situation.
