1:39 The reason for the 50mph speed limit is to allow HGVs to safely navigate to the inside lane. The M3 from London at this point only has a single southbound lane. There are then four extra lanes joining, 2 from each direction of the M25, so HGVs coming down the M3 from London sudden find themselves in the outside lane of five lanes and have to move over to the left quickly before the 4 slip road lanes stop being slip roads and become the M3 proper because at that point HGVs are prohibited from being then the outside lane. This requirement for HGVs to move left while traffic from the M25 is moving right proved problematic or even dangerous when traffic was moving at 70mph. Reducing it to 50 resolved that issue.

I used to own a similar-looking car. It was a 1932 Wolseley Hornet Special. No synchromesh, Gears back to front and the pedals were in the wrong order. If I recall, the accelerator was next to the clutch, for double declutching.

the 50mph on the M3/M25 bit is because when you approach from Sunbury after J2 it goes into one lane then after the bridge 4 lanes and that single lane becomes the right lane, so i think its because of that especially with HGVs will be in the right lane and need to get over to the left.

The coach driver probably came from the same place as the professional drivers !!! 😂

The White CH-R at 1:56 joining the M3. Obviously not excusing crossing the solid white and presumably speeding (If you are going at 50). In that type of two lane merge where the right lane has to merge with the Motorway and the left lane becomes the new left lane for the Motorway, I will sometimes pick the left one so I don't have to worry about merging.

I'd love to see you recording a long ride on a bicycle, commenting on the other road users in your inimitable style. Where I live, in Oxford, pretty well every car driver also has and rides a bicycle. So they know how to avoid each other no matter what they are on that day. It seems both cage drivers and cyclists in London are more aggressive.

Re you, the van and the bump. IMHO, you should each position yourselves and proceed exactly the same as if the bump wasn't there. If that means you have to slow down due to the bump, then that's what they are for.

Speed humps. One wheel over the centre is better for your tyres. There are quite a few MoT failures due to inside edge wear caused by the slope of the humps.

I’m sure those 50mph stretches on motorways will be getting removed in the next few months - National Highways said they were put in to decrease emissions but studies have shown that isn’t the case.

I work in a car park and people's driving is hideous, a work mate got mowed down and now he has life changing injuries.

I don't know if this is a London thing, I live in the West Country and I don't see any of the bad driving you show. Everybody stays in their lane no queue jumping and all stop at red lights. The other week a massive queue to get off the M5 everybody sat patiently in lane 1 to get off, don't think I saw anybody cutting in.

I feel bad for the owner of the vauxhall on the transporter. The owner of the ticket will receive tickets

The taxi at 13:00 A similar thing happened to me yesterday. I am driving down the road, on my side is a parked car and 2 cars and a van approaching the opposite side, the first car was a taxi and he literally pulled up on the kerb next to me on the opposite side of the road, he left a gap about half a car width, guy behind him was like what the hell, I looked to my right and he was totally oblivious, I put down the window and said are you serious, he didn't hear me, after the passenger got out, he literally started tapping the app on his phone then spotted me, I said are you really f**king serious?! can you not see what you done. As now the car and van behind stuck, me with cars behind me are stuck and he tapping his app to check the next the fare without a care in the world, he put the window down and shouted 3 times in broken English, you f**k b*tch and then sped off. Everyone in this jam which lasted about 1 minute were just in disbelief, but not me, as London Dash Cam has turned me into a full blown cynic 😂😂😂

I think people of the older generation driving is getting worse driving the wrong way on the car park is a prime example. That driver who parked in the road works was taking the mickey and that coach driver should be sacked. Great videos ❤

They take the sons and daughters of the rich to their posh schools so they don't have to ride the red buses with us plebs. The white car moving left across the solid white lines…years of abuse about lane hogging I suspect so will move back left even if it means crossing a solid white line. See it a lot on the other side if the M25 by Lakeside, all they need to do is wait 15 seconds and the solid lines are gone and if they want the exit then they can use the next one as they all end up at the same place anyway

As both lanes go ahead, one has to go quicker than the other and you just didn’t like they were ahead of you It could easily be said by a driver in your previous video that the merge you did with two lanes on the lights (the one where the van driver got upset) that what you did was unsafe. It goes both ways

I have been near it this morning and surrounding areas was quite clear but it was early, I won't be going back in the area for at least a couple of days because of it.

Quite a lot of lorries give it the bigun when it's 50mph on a motorway, they don't when it's 70mp though.

While I understand going over a speed bump isn’t the most pleasant experience, they are traffic calming measures and occasionally, you do need to go over them otherwise what is the point of them. Agreed the van was a little aggressive and you both should’ve been going over them at that point or the van held back slightly

I don’t think they can move abandoned cars right away. It falls under a civil matter if it’s not blocking the highway. If they can’t find the owner, they have to write to the address of the owner and leave sufficient time for a reply first.

Jeremy Vine says that all cyclists are perfect and use the road to the letter!!

That transporter was a bit of an idiot following that close but unfortunately to be expected from some drivers. Have they extended the 50mph limit on that section now? It always used to go back to NSL after the last speed camera beyond the slip road ( the point where the transporter was catching you) but I haven’t been there for a number of years

I hate to say it, but, I am now starting to like watching bad drivers.

The transporter is a copart truck, they are well known rip off artists selling damaged repairable cars, usually hiding some of the damage by only photgraphing the good bits, look on here plenty of tales of misselling

Both lanes ok for straight ahead at Drift Bridge, calm down and just merge in turn.

If you had accelerated ahead of them and then they forced passed I could understand there being an issue around safety They accelerated positively and were ahead of you so it would be you that yields to them in this instance 👍

If you are a watcher of Ashley Neal as you say you are perhaps you should refer yourself back him and rewatch a few of his videos about adjusting speed to the conditions and not just doing what you always do The other driver showed positivity and was ahead, you know the junction goes from two lanes into one, you adjust for the conditions

Speed limits aren't designed to slow drivers to a safe speed. Driver discretion is supposed to do that.

I'm not suprised they have scummy drivers though, I had an interview there to be a driver and base salary is hideous and you're paid a piece rate for cars collected so its no wonder they're racing around like idiots in the hope of earning a liveable wage. 4:30 Two important points. Firstly cyclists do not have to be in cycle lanes. There are often good reasons why they are not used. One is simply that they are often poorly swept, meaning for example broken glass is left there for weeks, causing punctures. My two most recent punctures were both in cycle lanes for this reason. Also the cyclist may have turned in from your left and may be now entering the cycle lane. Also there may be drains that they are avoiding. And not to mention there is no traffic behind them, so no real issue if they are not in the lane at that point. Secondly, phone use for both pedestrians and cyclists isn't illegal. This is because of the much lower risk that both modes of transport present to public safety. I don't think using a phone on a bike in this way is a good idea, but it's not illegal.

@@seanandlee8280 as bad as it sounds, the surfaces of cycle lanes are often much worse! All the cr*p from the road is often kicked by tyres into them, and there are drains, gutters, and worst of all broken glass that some upstanding fine citizens considerately choose to deposit there.
