@Dan Pachunka Because it sounds like a comment from a person who may not be familiar with Cinema from other countries, or Cinema before 1980, or someone who isnt familiar with great directors like Tarkovsky, Bergman, Kurasawa, Marcel Carne, Jean Gremillon, etc. A film like this is certainly not comparable to the works of those filmmakers. "Greatest film ever" is hyperbole that I would not use for any film. Different films have different merits.

I believe his murder was essential because it was a form of foreshadowing. Seeing as how he was attempting to save a girl who had no intention of being saved. He was catalyst to her sister being murdered. Quite poetic the way they handled that🤔 You can even see the lack of empathy she displayed when he died.

@@thecloudy_rainyboy3727 Ah, I don't know. I think it was terribly marketed. And the R rating hurt it, ending up being pretty much completely unnecessary. While watching, I kept thinking "How is this R?" Even the "violent" scenes weren't bad. If they knocked out all the edgy cursing, it would have easily been PG13 and that would have helped tremendously.

kjan jusz I second that. Cinematic and over rated movies are good too. But this kind of movie is GOLD. Story isn't predictable just what Hollywood used to recycle, setting is remarkable and takes you to time in a vivid manner, music is raw as well as the theme, as it has been incorporated to every song sung by that singer in the movie. And lastly, couldn't he really appreciate how good the CINEMATOGRAPHY is? It's beautifully done. I bet, he's only into SCIFIs and the like eh?
