Actually I wasn't, how are they gonna make a single player game for an IP that is about 4 brothers figuring out how to be best together, I think they should've gone with a city at war storyline or even a lead up to the last ronin, it just seemed like a missed opportunity from the jump

You guys know the company said it would be like god of war I imagined that you can switch weapons when ever you want like from the sword to nunchucks to staff and the other one I forget name but this could be one of the best combat systems in any game ever

Each weapon should have a different unique fighting style for example The Katanas can cut through (almost) anything The Sais being used as Parry Weapons since they're design for defense. The Bo staff while fast does less damage And the Nunchucks could be the hardest weapon to master since they're hard to master in real life And the Tonfas... I don't maybe those one weapons you start off in the game Plus each weapon can be used to help you traverse the area like the Bo Staff for ziplining for the Sais for climbing You following me hear?

@thefirstofthelastones8952 I didn’t know he got Tonfas but if he dose have that than this game would be on of the first to have nunchucks and tonfas idk any other game that has those with in-depth combat and I agree with every weapon have its on style. For me it sounds like Gotham knights but than you throw kratos into it. Yeah I think this game with a Batman Arkham night x god of war combat with good stealth would be like the best game ever

But it’ll be the same quality as games like Suicide Squad if we force the game to come out even with a lack of devs.

People losing they jobs is so disheartening. Especially since they can't provide for they families. It's not just about gaming but the people that bust they axx to provide they games we play and enjoy. I wanted to play this, but I'm sad that people have lost they jobs .

Also already game development has a very tough job schedule. Without many holidays, more work, a single AAA game would need years to produce even on average it's 4-5 years. Layoffs would make it even tough for developers and a slightly long period for game release. Edit: 4-5 years for AAA games, if it's an Indie game, it would be around 1.5-2 years.

Sure you need managers in any business but they can’t organise anything with no people who are actually doing the work creating the game. Getting rid of one manager (who is probably not needed) would have probably saved 3-5 other people’s jobs

See I understand because when I was little my dad was laid off and he was out of work for years until he found his current job which frankly I don’t even think he enjoys. So I just say this because I don’t want to see what happened to my dad happen these people.

the good thing is so far theres no word on if theyre cancelling production or if its gonna take longer, since the initial announcement of the layoffs. meaning we can hope its still being worked on. I found this video looking for it had been cancelled, and couldnt see anything else myself confirming if it was or not

Yeah this is baffling news, I was looking forward to that Last Ronin game on top of what Black Forest games is cooking, the fact their studio is still around is a sigh of relief but losing half their staff is disheartening to say the least. If more companies especially THQ Nordic focused less on Mergers and Acquisitions and more on what they have and what products and services they can pump out then there would be less problems in the industry, I do hope those that lost their jobs get new ones before long, cause man being layed off is the worse news you can get, especially for some companies that don't tell their employees personally and instead let a public social media post do the talking.

Seriously if this game gets canceled will be another thing to just suck. Having a great idea get buried. This happens so much.

I was actually excited for this game cause it's concept is really cool. Losing half employees? That'll guaranteed the game being delayed + there a likely chance things will change for better or for worse..hopefully the studio can recover from this loss.

Why can’t I ever be happy

What's with the R.I.P? - sure it's Studio faced quite some layoffs, but the game's far from cancelled, there might be a delay for another year or so, but the project is still very much alive.

Ghost of Tsushima X Arkham Knight should be what this game feels like. The stance system is just TOO perfect especially with all the weapons and unlocking them by playing through each ninja turtle's death memories would be a SICK concept. As well as a good stealth system and an emphasis of group fights this could be a really good game

They should just hand over the IP to SIE. I need this game to be good.

So GTA 6 will come out before this then... What a shame. I was looking forward to this game

Hopefully they can see their mistake and the game can make it because I love the storyline and can't wait to see it adapted

Guys, if it matters to you, please do what you can in these times to support the artists and programmers who work their asses off to perfect their craft and produce wonderful ideas and entertainment for us. Technology is only advancing and creatives will be in a tough spot. We’re talking concept designers, environmental designers, writers, storyboard artists, modelers, animators… the only ones that are really in demand right now are riggers. Down the line creatives may be able to coexist in their jobs with AI, but as it is new technology, it’s gaining demand with only profit in mind and putting people out of jobs. We’re struggling. It would mean a lot to us to have support. 2D is also losing its value in the west, which is also putting 2D artists in a crazy spot. Sincerely, a soon to be graduate in 2D animation.

I REALLY hope this game isn't getting cancelled. Its the kind of tmnt game that I've been waiting for years and idc if it takes more time(I prefer a finished game instead of a rushed one).

Damn, I thought games were doing well. I blame scalpers and shortages. It was so hard to get a PS5 for so long casual ppl couldn’t find places that had any in stock and just gave up. It wasn’t worth the hassle for them, and that no doubt has affected game sales big time. I myself used to buy 3 or 4 games a year, I barely get one now

That basically means that IF game comes out it's better to sit it out for peace of mind. Patience is key as would Splinter say.

This is why indie games and movies shows are better. They give us things that no other company can't give. There cheep and sometimes free there fun and are more fitting for your wallet. Have you ever tried fan games such as Star Fox EX Sonic time twisted or ground up remakes such as Sonic Triple Trouble 16 bit Sonic p06 or fan animations such as smg4 A Fox In Space. Or even Sonic paradox. Or even murder Drones. Long story short it's best if you create something yourself or for everyone until these corporate executives see that indie content is kicking them in the butts then they'll start getting there act together.

Sounds like someone needs to start up a new studio with a decent management structure. Poised to take over the gaming industry against shaky giants. With unreal 5 out for grabs, anyone can get in on this market now. Prove you got the skills and you will get people knocking at your door with licences for their brands in hand

Layoffs are not a problem getting rid of useless staff or slimming the workforce is just a natural thing it happens everywhere it always has done and honestly in a lot of cases it’s for the better most of those people will be fine anyway they will easily find new jobs we all worry to much

That's so sad to hear. I mostly play VR, but this game looked legit. A serious/TMNT comic/gow style type game sounds sick AF, and the trailer looked the part as well. Sometimes less is better to cut down on that decision by committee type of development that seems more and more prevalent. Let's just hope this negative is really a positive in disguise.

I think they did that so no more games are link out how they did wolverine.

If you really don't wanna read the story I'll give you a small understanding of the title. Mikey is the last ronin. The point of the story was the writers always wrote Mikey as the greatest potential of the turtles with the smallest work ethic. This story was the lovechild of the writers room that answered the question, "what if money was given a true purpose for greatness". They twisted that by giving him his purpose through the graphic and simultaneous deaths of his entire family which he felt responsible for This leads him down a path of ruin where he attempts suicide but the mutagen in his blood won't allow natural death by the elements, so he joins up with a older April and her daughter (with a deceased Casey) to put an end to the tyranny of the foot clan in a battle ravaged dystopian New York city and lives his life with the goal of avenging his fallen brothers who torment him as "force ghosts" who taunt him for not being there for them (not real, just his projection) Honestly one of the highest tier mini stories of any IP in the last 20 years imo and worth a read if you want There's also a new set of turtles in this "ronin verse" now led by April's daughter coming later this month

The video game industry is much bigger and more profitable than it's ever been, so why would so many people be getting fired? Could it be that the head honchos of these developers are making way for A.I. to take over?

It would be a damn shame if this game was cancelled due to how many people have been laid off but it is still a damn shame on how many people were laid off from their jobs. Though, in the event this game makes it to buyers and does great, then those who were unfairly fired may be rehired and can bring forth more potential games to fruition.

This is really disheartening. I am so freaking sad.

If this game gets cancelled, then I got The Last Ronin for Christmas for nothing.

If I'm being honest, I'm not that disappointed. I want a high quality game based on the IDW comics with all 4 playable characters. Not a game that, if successful, would see the next 10 years being one ninja turtle left standing (or one game with him and then following games with the new turtles replacing the originals in Last Ronin II).

I was excited about the game but unfortunately the Era of streaming games is upon us 😭!!!

I hope the game releases in 2025 or 2026 due to the lay offs
