S T B F - I'm confused as to who it is. You could see the cyclist a mile back. Would it have killed the DC car to back off a little and let the cyclist cross?? Or am I missing something??

Yeah. The cammer was merging onto the road. The cyclist had right of way.

Hi Michael so to explain the cyclists are not allowed to use a Lane on the motorway they are using the shoulder as a cycle Lane and as such the cyclist Dane has to cross over the divider which is the white painted section then crossover the entry Lane over to the other shoulder and when they are doing this they must give way to all traffic that are in that Lane before they crossover and in this case instead of giving way to the car coming they rode out in front of a car which was accelerating up to the speed limit and failed to give way does that make sense

Hi FYI no that’s a myth and misconception one thing there’s no such thing as right-of-way in Australian road rules that’s an American term not used to the way we work things that is on give way the sticker on the back of the bus that you will note is for giving way to bosses it does not apply to the examples in this video with a driving on roads and changing lanes that sign is there to say when a bus has pulled over and he’s dropping off packages anything going to re-enter a road that you have to give way to them if they have been indicating for five seconds as required that’s why if you actually look at the sticker on the bus it’s on the right hand side it has a bus stationary with its right indicator on and the green arrow indicating going forward on to the right , in the examples in this video the buses were wrong and committing offence for failing to give way under rule 148 of the road rules act hope that makes sense now?

Do they still require driving tests to get a license to drive cars or buses in Australia? lol

I hope your SBTF of the week is referring to the cammer, because the cyclist had right of way.

Hi Phillip how are you FYI there's no such thing as right of way in Australia that's an American thing here we do it on who has to give way and in this case these rider has to give way as they are any allowed to use the shoulder on a motorway and a crossing a divider and then going across a Lane to get to the other shoulder so as they are the ones crossing a Lane they must stop dismount wait and give way to the dash Cam car so that is why what they did then won the award this week

Truck blocks a lane? No, he is in the roundabout which means the two cars in front and the dash cam car failed to give way to the truck who had right of way! They are required to give way to the truck, not just continue to barge their way through.

​@@ScottsCarcameras I'm not confused at all. In your video at 1:39 you have a video of a truck already in the roundabout with several cars approaching the roundabout to the truck's right. In NSW (assuming this video is in NSW), the rules clearly state that "You must give way to all vehicles already on the roundabout." Hence, the 3 cars should have stopped and given way to the truck. www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/safety-rules/stopping-turning/roundabouts.html Therefore the title for the clip should have been "cars fail to give way to truck already in roundabout" oh, and it is you're as in "you are confused" (not your).

Hi regards to 1:39 yes the video is in New South Wales but no that's not how the law would apply to this example so in this situation the truck was now stationary and stopped inside a roundabout which you're not allowed to do. without having the footage of how that occurs we get only guess but most likely the truck either tried to enter the roundabout when they shouldn't have and had to give way to someone else and then had to stop to avoid a crash 'because they would have been at fault and therefore got stuck in the Lane or another likely scenario is they decided to slowly creep into the roundabout due to it being a very busy intersection and people often do this where they basically roll into the intersection to force people to stop and let them in because otherwise they have to wait a long time to get through in either example being stationary in a roundabout does not mean you're in the roundabout legally therefore the giveaway rule does not apply that's rule 114 by the way. they are violating the rule because I entered the roundabout without giving way to traffic and they are now obstructing traffic by blocking the Lane same as the example of a pedestrian whether they entered a crossing on a road legally or illegally stopping in the middle of the road and now blocking it at that point there now violating the obstruction law add need to move if the truck had entered the roundabout legally then they would have continued going and would not be sitting there stopped that's why the title is truck blocking the Lane because that's what they literally are doing . hope that makes sense now have a good one :)

@@ScottsCarcameras We can only make assumptions about how the truck got there, but I'm assuming the left lane was empty and the truck started going, but then cars in the right lane continued to push through and the truck would have had to stop so they wouldn't hit a car. Where does it state in the road rules about being stopped? So what you are saying is that if the truck was still rolling (albeit possibly slowly), he then has the right of way again? I have had to do similar moves to the truck myself as I have had an empty left lane (to the right of me) and I have proceeded into the roundabout, but because of the inconsiderate people in the right lane (to the right of me) refusing to stop and give way to me I have had to slam on my brakes to avoid an accident - yet I had right of way as I had made it into the roundabout first. Then you get the procession of cars following and when I start moving again, they think they have right of way, which they don't.

Hi yes well without seeing how we got in there we can only guess whether it was by someone else's fault or his fault in any event to answer your questions the rule about being stopped IE obstruction law is rule 125 of the 2014 road rules act legislation which says you cannot block ( obstruck ) other drivers path . next thing to know there's no such thing as right of way in the Australian rules that's an American thing people mix up in our system it works on who gives way here if the truck had legally entered the roundabout and not failed to give way to someone then yes cars have to give way to him but now that he is simply stopped and is not moving we don't know if cars coming around don't know whether he got there legally or illegally So what are they supposed to do they got to see to get out of the way because if they stop in the middle of a roundabout they would they could possibly get hit from behind or cause a clog of traffic behind them to where the truck wouldn't be able to exit out of the roundabout anyway since doubt blocked hence why it was a really bad idea to get that yourself in this position if in your example you go to enter a roundabout you had to hit the brakes to avoid an accident to someone did not give way to you then yes the preceding cars would have to give way to you but as I said if them stopping in the roundabout is going to cause a situation where traffic is now blocking your exit then you may have to wait till it's clear hope that clears everything up have a good day
