Bad Drivers of Philadelphia 5

Ойын-сауық

Well look at that: I managed another compilation video in a reasonable release date following the shenanigans with the Viofo camera. In fact, the footage I had from that camera is in this video. Can you tell the difference? Personally, while I like the angle of the lens and the stability of the recording, I think the image quality is not as good and the audio is definitely not as good (compared to the Vantrue X4). Nevertheless, my Vantrue X4 has been giving me more issues (like turning on and off as it pleases) as of late so I'm still on the hunt for a new 4K camera.
If you liked this video, please give it a thumbs up and write a comment. I read all of them and I appreciate all the positive vibes. I like sharing my road experiences with y'all. It's been oddly hard lately. My hybrid brakes are much more sensitive than those of the Elantra, even if the video doesn't really give good perception of distance and speed (hence the disclaimer). I will say, however, if you saw a noticed a nose dive, then most likely your eyes were not fooling you because the Rav4 definitely dips down a bit (naturally) during hard braking. MPG has been good. I've been averaging 32, which was the advertised amount. See ya soon.

So it seems like the biggest problems for Philly drivers are: Stop signs, red lights, and making up their own rules and lanes. Looks very frustrating to drive there. Great video as always!

The lanes is at least semi-understandable. Sometimes lanes can be really tricky because the city is very tight at times and sometimes it can be misleading or hard to read road markings too. Sometimes there are zero road markings to be found.

You are my spirit animal lol, you literally sound like me when I drive. I live in Philly and it’s totally shit here. The traffic and stupid shit people do on the road is just the icing on the cake. I’m just glad I’m not the only one that’s constantly annoyed by this lol.

0:36- I still can't believe that guy did that. Like how stupid do you have to be to not only ignore a no left turn sign, but to completely ignore the cars coming right at you. 2:30- He probably wanted to see if you had a lighter. 3:45- Good old instant justice. 5:40- Ah. Driving in a big city. 7:23- Good Lord, people need to pay attention. Great video man!!

At 3:35 I don't know if this guy was legitimately merging or if he came out of the freeway to cheat traffic and jump back in later on, but in the former scenario, he technically would have been doing nothing wrong, as you are supposed to zipper merge close to the end of the lane as possible to efficiently use up pavement space, meaning that if the merge lane is 500+ meters long, it is not unreasonable to do the full speed limit and gradually slow down toward the end and join in with traffic at the last minute. However, if this is the latter scenario (more than likely cause that's how he got pulled over) then yeah he is a douche and deserves every fine and point on his license.

We got a lot of bad drivers here. But in the city, coming to an absolute COMPLETE stop at a stopsign, when you can gauge the intersection is clear while rolling up to it, is preferable. I only come to complete stops when I know my view is obstructed or if I don't feel comfortable. Like at 4:13 I really don't think it was that necessary when there were clearly no other cars at the intersection (since you were 1st) and no peds. crossing. It almost seems like an overexaggerated stop. Hell I've seen Philly cops do rolling stops as well. Same with right on reds. If you can obviously, without a doubt, know that the intersecting traffic lanes are clear, then you can go. Again, I've seen cops do it, people in front of cops. If you're doing it in a dangerous intersection where you can't see, then follow the sign. But some of these intersections are clear as day and have a "No turn on red". Things are different in the city (yes not just Center City as well). For better or for worse.

I can understand your perspective because rolling stops, in essence, are more efficient. It's been proven in European cities such as Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where yield signs slow cars to safe speeds but without requiring complete stops. Unfortunately, road planning in the US is not as scientifically backed, and stop signs mean full stops. I'm very much guilty of rolling stop signs at low speeds. Temple's campus is definitely not a place where rolling stop signs is advisable, however. Thanks for watching, and for the comment :)

4-way stops continue to be a mystery to 90% of drivers, I see. Even here on the west coast, people hardly even stop anymore, they just roll on through and hope for the best. 1:25 *100% Irrelevant to bad driving:* People should honestly be required to take classes that teach canine body language before they're allowed to get a dog. I see shit like this all the time, and then dogs end up getting hurt cause their owners are absolutely clueless.
