This is a smart mother. She keeps going to the eyes. In this case mom is smarter than us. Taking baby and dipping it in water. I am impressed.

totally understands, her ways are rough and primitive but stands the test of time, there was a time when peoole dudnt drag their kid to the Dr or ER or need a second opinion for the commin cold or sniffles, allergy, sour tummy. She is checking the eyes for hints of infection because of sinuses, mouth, breath smell, deeper c!oser look at ears for infection, then discusses it with troop member while leaving her leg still for baby to use for comfort prob dont feel like being held because of fever better on cool pavement.

He's in pain of course, the fact that her thought process was to flush his eyes with cool water was the most powerful message of love IV seen in the animal world - His eyes for some reason were obviously sunburned to such an advance state she did what any loving human mother would do if humans had to live off the land and not have wheels to transfer us to a place that we are privileged to help us, this mother who may I might add is a nonhuman primate and had to play all of the above, alone by herself motivated by love - that is worth its weight in gold and not leaving him on the ground until his corneas are burnt BC he's in a little bit of pain -

My guess is, baby fell from above, and is injured. The mother is exhibiting behavior seen in many animals in captivity, and obsessively picking at baby's eyes. If this is a zoo, where are the vet's?

I think the mom is so stressed out that she is over grooming the baby, especially with the eyes. Since they are so red the baby could have not seen the ledge and fell injuring his legs or back. Poor thing getting tortured by mom.

The child is this mother's secondary concern. Eating the parasites in the baby's eyes is her primary concern.

Good old water treatment. Should have tried that with my kids.

It’s even more amazing that they will gouge their own child’s eyes out as it lies dying so she can eat can eat the discharge.

That baby monkey had eye infections and was most likely blind at that point. She was trying to get the infection out.

I think it's the fact that the mom picked at the babies eyes literally every 2 min. His eyes are red and sore.

I don’t know, but I think the mama may be trying to help the baby. The only injury she can see is the eyes so she’s licking them and trying to get bugs out. She can’t really see the other injury’s to it’s body. It’s whole body is broken but she can’t see that. She’s tending to what she’s sees. She’s picking it up , carrying it and hugging it. I guess I’m trying to give her benefit of doubt.

It's the new monkey contact lenses for 2020, way harder to put in than the old ones. Supposedly next year monkeys will be able to get lasik procedure for little or no cost depending their health coverage.

Fortunately, it didn't have broken legs or muscle issues, it does truly look like several heat exhaustion. If you watch the vid again, you can see at different times the baby moves its toes, feet & legs but not much. Haveing this situation, the baby had no energy at all & thankfully mom knew something was wrong & did the correct thing. Watch at approximately 2:08, 3:01, 3:11 to mention a few spots for toes, feet & leg mvmt.

@@BillBlast7372 She may be moving legs slightly but i'd be willing to bet there is some kind of injury to them, look at everytime including when the baby sat on her she cried, her mom moved her legs she cried, but didn't cry when upper body or even eyes were almost pulled out. Something wrong with her legs guaranteed.

I cannot imagine that they get that much salt out of the tear ducts to satisfy a salt deficiency. This is probably what happens when you see monkeys with scarred eyes and just one eye. The baby must be heard it's not getting up.

Nothing wrong with the baby just very tired but mom won't let him sleep

What was the significance of blowing in its bottom?

2:00 mom gets pissed at that little one cause it tries to take her place and perform the eye exam and she gets pissed off that's her job poking the eyes. Nobody usurps her job playing with those eyeballs. LMAO. I think this is an opthomologist in a monkey suit doing check ups. She's really into poking it in the eyes. She has made them all red and blood shot and the eye lids and surrounding area is red and raw from her pulling and scratching and prodding into them. She's nuts !! Besides it's eyes there was something Definately wrong with its legs. Watch around 4:05 as mom carries it up the rocks it never tries to grab onto her like the babies do and it's legs never move when she stops on the ledge it's legs are just dangling and the feet, toes, legs never move. Plus each time a monkey or mom touches it near its lower back and or legs it's screeches in pain and whimpers. Maybe it fell and broke it's back or was attacked. Either way the main issue seems to be the legs and lack of mobility and pain. No wonder it's just laying around weak and lethargic. Dehydrated can't get to the water to drink and even when it's mom brings it to water it's in so much pain it's just sick and can't move. Wonder what the outcome was here ?? And what happened to it to make it like this ??? Anyone know the outcome or cause ???

Oh, the humanity!

I've never felt homicidal until I Saw my first baby monkey video. I don't know why but all I can think about is putting these monkeys in rc cars and breaking speed records. Many If the baby earned it's stripes behind the wheel and lived through a few organ grinding crashes I may be able to justify allowing it to breath. Maybe a pretend high speed police chase with live ammo.... Shoot out the tires , aprehend the perpetrator..... Can't let them get away with whatever they want

Why is she trying to eat his eyeballs

Actually I did some research on this problem of eye licking. It's a psychological compulsive disorder called Lick Granulomae. Ltm's also do this, one long tail macaque licked it's baby's eyes constantly, it also put it's fingers and thumb in the baby's mouth and pulled the baby's mouth till it was gagging. Hope this was helpfull.

really? Do you mind providing the sources of that information regarding lick granulomas in regards to macaques specifically because i have never heard of it affecting macaques. In addition, lick granulomas are usually the sore that is associated with licking that usually occurs when an animal is bored and is not the name of the actual licking or a disorder that involves the licking.

@@dorothylloyd1804 yes, there are a lot of people who have said that in the comment section here on KZread but it's not. I'm not sure what got a lot of people started thinking that but I can tell you there is no professional (or otherwise) literature out there that states that or even mentions that! I also know that what the OP stated is incorrect as well (but I was trying to be kind and give her the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to bring forth any information she might think she has that proved what she was saying.) After working with these guys for over 24 years I can tell you that it is an obsessive behavior and it can often lead to blindness because it doesn't usually involve just licking the eyes as they tend to put their fingers in them frequently and "groom" them as well (you will also see those same moms often staring deeply into the babies eyes as well). Even if it doesn't cause permanent damage you will see the baby often walking around with extremely red eyes that are swollen almost completely shut after a couple of weeks. For whatever reason these same moms also tend to be ones that are abusive (to varying degrees) to their infants....and not "abusive" as defined by the people who watch monkey videos on KZread but abusive as defined by researchers such as Dario Maestripieri. I will be more than happy to find some sources of peer reviewed research journal articles or other legitimate sources that mention it if you are interested.
