Everyone needs help with their car sometimes. But if you're on the hunt for factual information or helpful technical knowledge, online forums like Quora.com are NOT where you should begin your search. In this video, Nolan is joined by host of Money Pit, Zach Jobe. Together they scour the dark depths of Quora for some of the worst (and funniest) car advice the world wide web has to offer.

While in college, I was known as "the car guy". One of my coaches asked me if I could help him fix an oil leak in his Maxima. I of course said yes. Once I realized this was going to involve dropping the front subframe and replacing the entire oil pan I knew I was in way over my head. Refusing to admit the limits of my abilities, I posted the question on Quora. Some guy sent me all the sheets from the factory service manual with an annotated list of the steps and all the tools and part numbers I would need. I did the whole replacement in about 6 hours in my coaches driveway. Aside from the $100 and 12 pack of beer (probably an NCAA violation) the gains in clout were priceless. Those were the good old days of asking a serious question on the internet and getting a real and helpful response. Every day we stray further from god's light.

The good old days where before there was the internet lol. I miss those days when you just figured it out. People in those days were smart and had common sense. Now days you and I are like Gods because we can pretty much do anything from home repairs to car repairs as well as we just have the mind to be able to over come and adapt to any situation. These younger cats now days are like a jelly fish. They have no spine or brain and now some no PeePee to put it nicely lol. I’m a OPs Manager for a big branch in Orlando for a Fortune 500 company and we provide a service that requires driving a semi tanker truck. All my drivers are mid 30s are older and most mid 40s and up. The younger generation just isn’t smart enough. They mentally can’t handle it and their work ethic is non existent. I don’t discriminate as I love all people young old and I don’t see race but when I interview people it’s the older ones who get the job because they are the most qualified. The problem with our company is they would rather hire someone based on their color of their skin then to hire them based on experience and their personality. It pisses me off to know end.

Actually the reply to not negotiate isn't entirely wrong. Don't come out of the gate negotiating because they'll jack their prices up to make back what you're trying to negotiate off the car. Wait until they put the final price tag in front of you and are ready to sign. Now you know the actual price of the car and not the inflated price they gave you to cover your immediate negotiation tactic. Once you know the sticker price and the paperwork is ready to sign do you really think he wants to lose all that time and effort spent on you whereas you on the other hand, who have not signed anything, can simply walk away and he's out all that time and effort. Timing is everything. ;)

I don't negotiate because I find it exhausting and tedious. Do your research know the ball park of what the car is worth and if they try and high ball you just walk away. If they are willing to mislead you about the price then they are going to mislead you on something else, like if the car was previously damaged, in an accident or poorly maintained by the previous owner.

Please include those in the price, no extra charge.. and also free winter tires (i'm in Canada, gotta have winter tires, those can get expensive, but they're dirt cheap for dealerships)" then they pretend to go talk to the finance person and come back with a "they said yes" "of course they did, i'd have gone elsewhere to get a good deal otherwise"

the car scene is filled with lots of aggressive people who always think they're right, i feel like mike is probably just a byproduct of that scene, but only acts that way in that scene. you see it all the time, and this definitely isn't exclusive to mike. if you spend any time on a car forum, people will argue endlessly on really subjective topics (usually car mods, and custom work). also asking questions in the car scene is a good way to make yourself look like an outsider. for example, if you've ever asked a question about cars on reddit, or a car centric discord, most people will probably just make fun of you instead of answering your question. which is really counter intuitive, and made it really difficult for me to get into cars, because it constantly felt like i was being put down for being curious about cars, and the process behind fixing and repairing them, a lot of my knowledge came from chrisfix.

Chevy also offered "Stage" upgrades for the supercharger for up to I think 325 hp, with warranty. *That last bit might actually be the SS _Turbo,_ which (in stock 260hp form) outperformed the Evo X in Car and Driver's "Lightning Lap" event at the grueling road course VIR.

On the tires most manufacturers don't out a spare in to 'save weight' (money) they instead put in fix a flat equivalent and an air pump of course it expires and will get hard likely when you actually need it. Yup it makes a mess and a tire shop will charge you additional labor for cleaning it up but yeah I've had to clean it and it's a royal pain to clean.

Try replacing the piston return springs. When they go out it can cause the pistons to reciprocate unevenly and wear-out the drivetrain components quickly. As for the Mustang It's common for older Mustangs to suffer problems with the electrical systems due to the crowd-control module going out after many years of hard use. Replacing it may resolve the issues.

And from personal experience, how important it is to know how to change your wheel to your spare depends a lot on how you use your car etc. Many cars don't even come with spares any more. My parents had to get a spare because there car did have a mounting place under the vehicle but no actual spare installed... If you drive mostly in cities etc. and tow services in your area of the world don't charge higher fees than top level surgeons or if you have an insurance that helps with this kind of problem, some automobile clubs do as well, you might not urgently need to know how to swap your wheel with a spare. I drive through the peruvian amazon jungle and andean mountains all the times - sometimes having no cell service and many many hours to the next car shop, I wouldn't leave with my car for a major drive without checking the spare and sure as hell know how to put it on. Also not just an "emergency tire" half as wide as the rest or some of that shit, I have 5 identical tires properly maintained and rotated, propper pressure, emergency air pump, the original car jack plus a second one just in case etc. But most of my German friends really don't need to know this kind of stuff. If they get into such trouble, they call the ADAC (German automobile club) and get some proffesionals to fix the problem...

For someone learning parallel parking in a car, what I learned was to check your rear passenger window, make sure you can see the rear driver side corner of the car you want to park behind, and then crank the wheel until you're 45 degrees, roll back until the B pillar is about touching the corner of the vehicle, and then crank the wheel while lightly allowing the car to roll back to the straightforward position.

Ngl the tire changing answer was spot on. Most new cars don't even come with spare tires and instead have precharged compressors that spray the goo like bro mentioned. And honestly it might for the best, I don't want my mom out in the field having to deal with all that. I'ma gonna continue to rock my fullsize spare but for sedans and other cars that are strictly road going I'm gonna have to agree that run flat compressors are they way. Man's answer was fire, we just have to consider the fact that most people aren't driving clapped out beaters (or project cars as we like to call them) so it just makes less sense to know how to change a tire if it's not something most cars even have these days.

When that Mike dude was talking about getting pickup truck for straight line performance it reminded me of this little S10 my friend had when wr were teenagers. He liked to race people at red lights and stuff so he took the box off the back and it was all downhill from there in the funniest way. When he would floor it the rear wheels would jump and bounce because there was next to no weight on them, and it was such an old truck that he beat on like this so much that eventually the exhaust ended up with a hole in it and when he would hit the gas hard enough fire would shoot out underneath the damn thing lmao. This is the same dude that rigged a small fan up to the headlight power in a field car he owned, and stuck it in the intake, so any time he turned on the headlights the car was suddenly "supercharged." It actually worked and you could feel the difference haha. Oh man. The good old days.

Yep. The only thing worse is somebody who, while knowing this, goes there to answer them.

I agree with the first one. I started on my Lincoln Navigator, I now drive an 89 keep and can place it perfectly because I drove the Lincoln for so long

The one about the noise on start up, I knew what they meant about the answer in regards to pollution control. My 08 wrx had an air pump that would kick on when you first start the car and was loud. It would stay on until the car got up to temp.

The best bit about the Omaze promos is that you don't have to hear Nolan talk about his hairy balls

He mentioned the emergency tire seal because in the uk and a few other places in Europe no longer provide a spare tire unless you pay extra

18:55 that was the first thing I learned before driving was changing a tire. I only had to call for help twice in by 30yrs of driving for a flat tire. Once cause a tire shop that worked on my truck last crossthreaded my lugs and needed an air gun to take the lugs off. The other was on my dodge van cause I couldn’t get the tire to drop from the back.

Car make noise and go away shortly after, my top two guesses with given info. 1. Vacuum running possibly 2. Serpentine belt needs to be oiled.

I think for the last one he was talking about using a puncture repair kit, the ones where I stick a piece of rubber in your tyre to seal punctures, some tyre shops even use it as a temporary fix

I gotta say, Donut Media is the best channel I subscribed this year. Enjoyed all their videos even though I still don't have a car yet.
