Only 2 minutes in and I can already see what a gem this man is 🥺💖
John is adorable! He's so passionate about bonsai and his bonsai are so beautiful.
I really like that Summer is so knowledgeable and can 'chew the fat' with John. She adds so much to the episode. I hate it when an 'interviewer' merely asks questions and adds nothing to the program. John is a real delight and and his enthusiasm is infectious.
That guy is such a mood 🤣🤣
I LIVE for Summer's field trips! Makes me feel like I'm in second grade again going on a field trip! ☺️

Mmm-hm, yeah I see where this is going. I'll allow it, but don't you dare bring that into the house...
I love his “canaries”. What a brilliant way to gauge the health or potential problems with his bonsai.
Okay, who's looking around their yard or house right now to see what they can cut into a bonsai? 😂 I certainly am!

Haha I’ve already learnt every tree off by heart by doing this 🤣. Am growing out an olive, swamp cypress and Chinese maple in the garden at the moment though!
Another fascinating tour! John really shows his excitement and passion in his hobby....and his stories behind each tree was so interesting. I could listen to him all day..lol. His specimens are beautiful! I love that you are venturing out to showcasing different subjects, crafts and hobbies in your channel. Thank you, Summer and John. :)

And the camera person, Sander is that you?
this man seems so gentle and sweet... would love to learn from him!
John is so passionate and knowledgable about plants and Bonsai. This was a great treat for us and got so much information. Thank you.
I loved this episode. I myself am an artist and art historian but I started in biology. I actually am studying the literati and Chinese landscape painting and how they molded their own version of the world, rather than just copying nature. Very inspiring episode and loved the enthusiasm and connection he has for everything. hugs
Wow what a lovely word.. "My wife is an angel". I love bonsai plants... You are amazing you have lots of bonsai plants.
This was an incredible episode. He was such a sweet knowledgeable soul. It became obvious early on that your visit made his day. I am ecstatic that you are back at your tours. Thanks for sharing Summer 💚🌿
I loved his story about the tree he rescued that was floating down the river and you took it home and planted it and then when he got into bonsai he potted it up and worked his magic
Summer, you're so humble! I rely on your knowledge in my plant journey- and you just have to accept that you're a plant-genius! I love watching what you and Sander create!
I love that plant nerds get to talk about their passion, we on the winning end by learning all the little tricks and tips.
I really love his enthusiasm towards bonsai. I have one plant that is a candidate for my first bonsai project.

I recommend you learn with cheap ficus microcarpa from a box store. They're tough, can be inside in warm weather, and they take to bonsai very well. Walmart and Lowe's usually have them. I would get a couple of the curve ones and not the fat rooted ones.

I know NOTHING about plants, but this show is A MOOD.
On the Acer, air layer a whole branch. You will need a whole season, but that illusion of age is well on its way. The nice part, you get to choose your own trunk.
John’s bonsai trees are as beautiful as his passionate personality, thank you for sharing this art! ❤️🙌
I love this episode! John is amazing! I didn’t expect to be so interested in bonsai but boy oh boy I’m looking at my houseplants now and deciding which one will be manipulated 😂

Hahah. I'm glad there is cross-over appreciation.
Stayed up past my bed time to hear this gentleman bonsai knowledge and collection, could have listen to all his interesting stories!
Im really amazed with his passion🙏, Thank you Summer bringing this to us, I really love this content.
Incredible tour. Love his enthusiasm talking about his great work with is "little hobby".
The BEST Bonsai- Ambassador !!
Very enjoyable video. John is quite the enthusiastic guest. Would love to see a video of him potting and wiring a new plant. Summer, your videos are terrific and great to watch. Btw, your camera person(s) are terrific too!!
As a subscriber of your channel and 2-year self-learning student of bonsai, I'm super pleased to see this. Travel permitting, you guys should definitely head down to Mirai or other professionals' bonsai gardens - there is so much to see and I feel you and Ryan Neil will have so much to nerd out about when it comes to horticulture. I know your work prior to youtube is also important and prolific - I'm sure you'd love the rigour and depth of bonsai.
One of your best Video.. 🙏 shirsashtang namskar to his art and the way he is involved with it. Touching person's feet to give him respect.... is the meaning of shirsashtang. namskar
Thanks for this awesome bonsai garden tour. John’s tree collection is lovely and his passion is contagious. This video is a great resource for anyone who wants to start in bonsai and doesn’t know much about the art form.
This is one of the most valuable and my favourite video I've come across . Thanks for sharing, Summer 💕
Oh my gosh John is adorable!!! I have a bonsai and I had no idea how to keep it going. I'm feeling a little more adventurous now. I also have some conifers on our property, I'm going to pull a Summer😁
Summer reminds me of Princess Kate, bubbly and classy. John is just delightful. Loved going through his collection!
Love this video!! John’s passion for bonsai is contagious!
Thank you so much for this lovely clip about bonsai with a real bonsai connaiseur in the name of John. I have several times rewounded and played so as to well assimilate the content. As a non American I also appreciate the very clear and without hard accent of the English spoken by both of you. Again thank you and my dream is to be able to pay both of you in the midst of your plants. However if ever you are here in my tiny island Mauritius, lost in the Indian Ocean do let me know as I could show you some of my bonsais and our lovely native flora.
When we bought my in-law’s home I trimmed all the dead or weak growth off of two large, established juniper bushes. I didn’t know what I was doing at the time but they’ve pushed so much more growth and have since become the most gorgeous, graceful, bonsai-esque plants. We just love them. Definitely a recommended way to save or regenerate a tree or bush.
This man is precious! His excitement is refreshing. How did I miss this video when it first came out? 🤣😑 (Also him using his "weeds" as an indicator of plant health is genius!)
This man's enthusiasm is refreshing and very captivating.

Loved John's enthusiasm and passion. Thank God for his angelic wife who allows for his takeover of their deck. I have an angel who let's me do the same with my 200+ houseplants. Thank God for nature, plants and angels!
John is amazing!! Such knowledge and patience, and I LOVEEEEE how passionate and excited and exuberant he is!!!! I wish I could pick his brain a million times over! 🖤💚 Bless you John, and your partner who “allows” the hobby. 💚🖤
Great video! These are my favourites when you visit people and check out their collections. This man is a gem so interesting to listen to
I am very new to Bonsai. At this point I only have some small trees in pots nothing of any cash value but priceless to me. I came across your channel and now learning a lot. Thanks for sharing your passion. Mike T from NJ

Wow! What a dream! 🥺 This made my heart sing, as do all of your videos! I love listening and learning all of this information. Thank you for spreading and sharing this knowledge and beauty! Truly amazing! 😁💜
First summer! 🪴
I love his enthusiasm. Bonsai is such a rewarding hobby. I love it.
Had to watch this one as bonsai became one of my interest in horticulture. I'm lucky to inherit 4 of my grandpa's bonsai and they were almost 30 years at that time so I have to keep the art going. Thanks to John I get to feel the excitement again!!
I like that man. And Summer I really appreciate the sentiment “it gives me something new to learn”.
This gentleman has a beautiful collection of bonsai. Well done.
What a passionate man, his eyes were glowing.
I was totally into this video! His passion in his creations really pulled me in. Wonderful issue!
For a guy I love birds and plants also. I try to carve bonsais but always mess them up. And I want to say how stunning this lady is. Just beautiful. I could talk to her all day.
My parents had trouble with bears getting into their birdfeeders, too. They came up with a genius improvisation: They ran a cord across the trees overhead and created a pulley system. It looked like a high clothesline. They hung the bird feeders up just high enough that the bears couldn’t swat them down. The pulley system allowed them to bring them down to refill. The shepherd’s hooks don’t really work well if you have bears - we found one of our out in the woods and the feeder was covered in bite and claw marks.
i love this episode... i could listen to this gentleman for hours more :)
i enjoy these tours like nothing else on youtube! thanks summer for continuing to provide such awesome content you and sander are truly the best

Very interesting as usual. I sent the link to my grandson, he is very interested in learning the art of bonsai. I must admit it also fascinates me. Thank you Ms. Summer, I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!💚🙃
That is a great subject for a topic, starting your Bonsai garden tree.
Wow. John is absolutely fantastic. His passion is infectious! It really inspired me to try Bonsai.
Such a great episode! John is so modest about his collection, its beautiful! :)
Yes! It nice to have something other than your typical apartment houseplants!
I love the bonsai John is an amazing person his knowledge is exceptional I could listen to him all day he’s such gentle soul he’s so cute 😊 I love ❤️ the interaction you had with him you’re such an inspiration to me I love 💗 what you do.
I LOVE HIM😄
I so enjoyed this segment. I love this gentleman & his appreciation/joy for nature. Going to try my hand at a small bonsai.
I love people whom are passionate! The world is our playground. Fantastic interview. 💚💚💚✌️
Yaaasss!!! Been waiting for this, and sadly have to a little longer but I'm excited for tonight😄♥️
I'm a bonsai enthusiast. I enjoyed watching the whole 1hour and 4minutes 🥰 Sending love from the Philippines 💖
A very very interesting interview. I had never had any luck with Bonsai trees. Your guess has an entire patio of beautiful Bonsai trees and I give him much respect.
Finally...a bonsai video..loved it...
I'm so excited by your landscape sculpture- Woweeeeeeeee!!!!! Warmest regards Jennie
Summer, I've been waiting for you to dive into the world of bonsai. Loved this one. Thank you for taking us on your journeys with you!
The passion and excitement this man has especially when he struts off to pick up the next tree is admirable
Love elms, and parrot beaks Love my bonsai trees
Absolutely loved this episode, you can really see the passion in his eyes. Super interesting!
I have watched this video like 3 times. John is so awesome!!! He’s so knowledgeable about bonsai, and I know nothing, so it was so interesting listening to everything he had to say. Helps that he’s super entertaining and wholesome as well. Makes me interested in trying out bonsai some day, although I wouldn’t consider myself very artistic or creative.
I love how he didn’t get the joke at 39:22 lol. One if my favorite tours
He is just absolutely delightful!!!! I would love for you to meet back up with him again!!!
It's a bit addictive the old bonsai thing..... Nice one Summer ! Love it...
I loved this tour! So very interesting. His enthusiasm is infectious.
I really enjoyed this down to earth video on Bonsai from John .
lovely to have the forest to pick from...I love the moss growing in the bonsai pots
John is adorable! Passionate and skillful! Check out Peter Chan fr Heron Bonsai KZread, he has a lot of videos and some are on landscape specimens. John did not mentioned the date and location of the bonsai show. I hope he wins!

Thank you for this episode with John! This was so great!
thanks Mam for featuring bonsai trees. I love this so much.
Summer I would love a video about bonsai bareeeee basics- like complete newbies!!!!! And please have John back!
Lots of respects to John. He did amazing jobs on bonsais. I hope he starts youtube. 😁
His reaction when Summer new the name of the bird is so me ( but less cute) whenever someone shows their interest in nature. I get so excited because I'll know what to talk about for the coming... hours😂
This was so interesting and marvelous!
I live in Oregon in the Great North west and I grow and have created and trained more than three hundred and seven bonsai in my garden and most all bonsai trees grow well here.
I adore John's enthusiasm and love for nature! I do have a question for John in terms of the "collected" specimens. Are their ethical standards for bonsai enthusiasts in terms of how/where/when specimens are collected? I ask because I know in the succulent and cacti collecting world wild collected specimens are causing major issues on desert ecosystems. These trees however don't seems to be "rare" plants.

There are regulations that are supposed to be taken when collecting, but as you know not all follow those rules . Usually you should only need permission from the land owner to collect trees, sometimes you might need a permit to collect on natuur reserves or national parks . Hope this helps 🙂
My first love is bonsai since I was a grade school . because bonsai is unique no identical bonsai .# Bonsai Is a living art.
I just love it when plant people full-on nerd out!!!
Great video! Since you mentioned bonsais in warmer climates I’ll tell you I live in Florida and have had success with juniper and mini jade!
I do really love this type of person 💤 very nice guy and sounds professional the way he talks 👄 atsuuup 👍
He is a beautiful soul. Gorgeous trees!
