For those who are wondering what The Young Persons Guide To The Orchestra is, it is a piece written by Benjamin Britten to introduce children to the instruments of the symphony orchestra. The piece begins with the theme, which was written by the great English composer Henry Purcell. The full orchestra plays it first, then each of the four families play it individually and finally the whole orchestra plays it all together once again.
For those of you who are beginners to classical music and want to learn more about the symphony orchestra, this piece, The Young Persons Guide To The Orchestra is a great place to start. This piece is about introducing children to the instruments of the orchestra. The beginning of the piece showed the orchestra playing the Theme by Henry Purcell. First the whole orchestra played it together, then each of the four families played it individually and then the whole orchestra played the theme together a final time. Then we heard the first 4 of the variations of the theme, which are played by the woodwind instruments. First the flutes and piccolo, then the oboes, followed by the clarinets, and finally the bassoons. Then, we heard the next 5 variations, which are played by the string instruments. We start with the first and second violins, then the violas, next the cellos, followed by the double basses, and finally the harp. Up next, we heard the next 3 variations, which are played by the brass instruments. First the french horns, then the trumpets, and finally the trombones and tuba. Finally, we hear the final variation of the piece, which is played by all of the percussion instruments. First the timpani, then the bass drum and cymbals, next the tambourine and triangle, followed by the snare drum and chinese block, the xylophone after that, afterwards the castanets and gong, and finally the whip. Once the percussion is finished with the final variation, the whole orchestra which is now broken down into pieces is brought all back together again with the fugue, and we hear the theme one last time played by the brass while the rest of the orchestra continues on playing the fugue. In the fugue the instruments are brought in one after another in the same order as before beginning with the piccolo and ending with the percussion.
i hope they love it!!! hearts and stars, bleeckie

OMG your the best girl I will subscribe on computers and tablets
this is awesome !!!!! the voice of Bleeckie is almost the same as one of our own puppets. I bet the musicians had a lot of fun explaining the instruments. This is what we want to do also with our puppets, but it's hard in Holland to find the right people who want to coorporate with puppets. Take a look at our channel, although it's all in Dutch....
Didn’t she do an episode on Big Tex?
The oboist and Melody the usher have the personalities of a dry stone. Geez! Would it kill you to smile a little?
