I saw the Stones in 75 and Richards came on late and wasted. Everyone cheered him. I didn't. He was reckless and pale white about half way through . He then turned his back on the crowd and stood in front of Charlie for about 10 minutes. Charlie all of a sudden gave Keith a nod and Keith turned around and played brilliantly like he was reborn. The Stones played longer because of Keith being late. The concert was like a wild ride on a roller coaster and best live performance ever for me . The Stones are the best at their worst 😜❗

I'm not one to say this time, or that time was better. The 70's weren't better than today, except i was young and i miss it. One thing for sure though, there isn't any decade that compare musically to the 70's. Every form you may listen to now and every form you can think of was created in that decade. No time was there ever more talented musicians playing everything and all with a rock edge. Every day it seemed like a new band was on the scene. I was so into listening to everything i thought was out there, but to this day i'm still finding things from then i hadn't heard before. There will never be another time musically again like it was in the 70's.

This was at the Apollo Theatre in Glasgow . The band played 3 consecutive shows at that venue and this gig was their 3rd night on the Wednesday evening. The football game playing was the European Cup final between Bayern Munich & Saint Etienne which was been played at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Because of the travelling French and German soccer fans coming to town the City council imposed a special late night license so the bars could remain open to 3.00 am. I went to the Stones show at the Apollo and afterwards we partied at the clubs into the early morning hours. It was tough to get up for work the next day but then again I was only 20 years old at the time.

That would have been "Bianca's 5th Wedding Anniversary" and the football match would have been the European Cup Final (also played in Glasgow that night) where Bayern Munich beat Saint-Etienne 1-0. Bill mentions "hit the bar twice, the French", but I have no idea what "Scotland win" Ronnie was talking about!?! I think I also remember the final score being announced from the stage. So 102,000 - just over a tenth of the demand. In a very few years they would be playing outdoor stadiums and arenas, 60,000 plus. My first Stones ticket, Earls Court 76 was £4, though I paid more for it (£10). The last one was just over £100 at Twickenham in about 2000.

The crap music today won't ever be bested by these early rockers. No classics will ever be made again. It's sad actually.

I think I was at that concert! I still have my ticket (£3.50!) for The Stones at Glasgow Apollo on 12th May 1976. The manufacturer programs these sounds into the sound bank, and the musician just calls them up. No more need to create or invent a sound. FUN, Rock n' Roll life is about Fun. If you can balance the Fun with even a little practicality and integrity you can have a truly amazing life !
It's a very interesting time in their history, as they were still playing relatively small venues, I think Earl's Court held about 17,000, and there was something like a million ticket applications for what was going to be four concerts but was increased to six.
