I was raised in the Mormon church and raised 2 of my 3 children in the church before leaving. I’m blessed to have a husband who left with me and has supported me through this difficult faith transition. But, my extended family acts like we’ll never find true happiness and my adult children will never find good spouses. That’s very wrong! You’re so brave for going public about leaving the church. I’m so glad you followed your truth and wish you nothing but happiness.

There are many ways to define a cult. I have come to my own single test of whether a group is a cult. The test is how do your friends and family treat you when you leave the group. If they are ugly, shun you, unfriend you, separate from you etc. then its a cult as a true church will not respond in those ways. A true church demonstrates the love of Christ even as you leave.

Jante: I was raised in the church too. I was married in the temple. I love the Mormons. But I do not love their leaders. After 30 years of debating in my mind, I quit the church. Probably the best decision of my entire 66 years on this planet. I’ve definitely been happier after leaving. You’re doing the right thing. You are brave. I can now think freely for myself and It feels like a huge weight has been lifted off of me. maybe one day I’ll find the answers, but for right now I’m okay with not knowing. I want to share this experience with you because I was raised in the mormon church and am glad I left. One year at girls camp, we had an activity about the tree of life and the iron rod. They blind folded us and had us hold on to the iron rod. People would try to tempt us to let go but we weren't supposed to. At one point the people said I had to let go and they sounded so serious so I did. After I was pulled aside, my bishop comes up to me and says just because you fell off the path doesn't mean you can't get back on. So I grabbed the "iron rod" and kept going. When I got to the end, they took off our blind folds and in front of me was a tree full of lights shining brightly in the dark. It represented the tree of life. Fast forward to when I turned 18. I left the church because I was forced to go and didn't really believe it and still don't. After I left, I became agnostic. I knew something was out there but I didn't know what. So the next few years I lived freely and smoked, drank, partied, and had sex. I went through my worst years alive. I was stolen from and got evicted bc of it. I was homeless twice and I went through a house fire. When I went through this every situation went back to Jesus, not mormonism, Jesus. So I got curious and started seeking out what was truly out there. Every path I took and everything I researched literally led back to Jesus. I encourage you to seek out what's really out there and what your purpose is. Be cautious and careful but seek out God. This is only a small experience compared to some of the ones I've had after I found Him. Jesus is my savior and he is the only way but people have to seek Him out for themselves.

I've become anti religion after my whole life going church to church and finding they twist the same book to suit their agenda, become too political, focus on money too much and are all about popularity groups. I don't care what others say about my view of it. Good on you for sharing why you left. Anyone that fights you on it needs to look deep in themselves if they truly believe. If they are so confident in their faith, they would ignore your videos and simply not watch.

I am a Christian from overseas where Christianity is not commonplace, so I sympathize with your struggle but would also encourage you by saying that true faith is out there somewhere. I also thank Ms. Wilson for being brave and speaking up regarding this topic. Not easy and definitely sparks an honest conversation regarding a sensitive topic.

I'm very proud of you for standing up for what you believe. I have been going through my own faith crisis and have been rejected by family friends and others in the Mormon church. They want to change my mind it's like they dive into my very life and my beliefs like they can change it I was more than 58 years. I decided to dive in some of the most sacred parts of the Mormon church and realized I don't believe it. Boy I don't think I have one friend out there and my family has distance himself from me. I asked them questions because they're older than I am and it been Mormons for 60 plus years and they don't know anything about their Church they can't answer any of my questions and they say just believe so I am on a journey to find out everything I can from the past to right now. It's mind-blowing. You go girl.

I had a drug problem as a child, I was drugged to church every Sunday morning, every Sunday night and every Wednesday night. Hahaha, I saw this saying on facebook, but it is the truth. I am glad I was saved as a young person, but I never got much more than that. They would get you to salvation, but growth after that was super slow. As an adult I lost my religion, but when I did, I found Jesus. Like you said, we went by what people told us how to feel, plus the guilt they would put on you if you didn't do what they said to do. After I found Jesus I became the most understanding, loving, non judgemental, caring person you can meet. When you have a religion telling you how, what, when, to feel something, you have lost who you are and have gotten in line with all the people roaming around feeling lost and confused. The difference between my story and yours, I didn't lose family and friends, some of us drifted apart, but not because the church made their members shun us. Shunning people certainly isn't the way to treat someone that is having trouble understanding what is going on. That proves to me that it is more cult like than any church I have attended. I hope you don't lose Jesus through this, call on His name when you need to and just see what He will do for you. A church that turns their backs on someone that doesn't see eye to eye with them is not of God, at least not the God I know and love. Prayers for you to find your way to the love God has for you and He will help you get through these days of sadness and grief of losing the people that you once called family and friends, God bless❣

Hugs. Thanks for sharing. I keep wanting to come out publicly and "be authentic", but I have kids whom that would affect them negatively. And I honestly am not sure I'd have a support system anymore. I barely have any right now. My therapist continues to remind me, "you don't owe anybody your truth." " You don't have to tell anybody anything." Because the church and its members ask deeply personal questions and they expect us to answer them. That's wrong. That's an invasion of privacy. A crossing of boundaries. But on the flip side, like you said, members hate when people talk negatively about the church. It "reflects poorly" on them. It never occurred to me how much Mormons care about their image, until I was trying to leave the organization.

The trauma is the same, the fear of rejection from god and your family is the same, the wondering whether your right or wrong is the same, etc. it’s crazy how they’re all basically the same to leave! I didn't realize that was how I thought until I left the church that taught me 🎶 "there's a right way to live and be happy, it is choosing the right every day" 🎶 Everyone is just trying their best with what they have. @@shainhenson3990 so what you're saying is that no one can ever object to an action someone takes, otherwise they're cult-like? What kind of garbage is that? It sounds like the real cult is this belief that everyone has to accept your bad choices. No! No one has to accept your bad choice. You do a shitty thing - own it! You disrespect someone's faith and cover it by saying, "I'm just speaking my truth." There is no "my" truth. What if tomorrow, you woke up and decided that your truth was in human sacrifice? You think people are just supposed to be okay with that, or else they're punishing and abandoning you? What a cowardice approach! You wanna leave the church because you don't believe it anymore - that's on you, and I wish anyone in that position the very best. But to act like people - family, friends, mentors - can't object and can't feel like you are the one abandoning them, and then having the nerve to say their feelings are cultish, is arrogant, childish, and evil.

I bet you, your church building and your fancily adorned temples in the most prime real estate lots will trespass the homeless and the poor should they dare need a place to charge their cell phones, or a place to shower and sleep and find refuge. That’s right, like a latter-day zoramite you will shame them and will neber allow them refuge in your fancy temples of your Lord , the god of this world; that’s right. Just as Moroni wrote in chapter 12 in “The Sealed Portion, The Final Testament Of Jesus Christ PDF “ by Pearl Publishing. You are the very reason many leave the church permanently; who likes the rameamptum-loving zoramites? One huge coverup: pedophile Brigham Young masterminded Joseph Smith’s murder. @@adiospobreza hi Ale! Maybe I can answer some of your accusations to help you. 13 years ago I worked as a housekeeper in the Salt Lake temple. As you may or may not know, that temple is literally at the center of SLC, and the homeless population is pretty rampant. I didn't know this beforehand, but panhandlers actually have territories they claim and routes they follow. Who knew! Anyway, I worked there for 2 years, and frequently took food out to the handlers, as did other people. I was told several times by the panhandlers to not offer showers or cleaning up, because it took away from the image. One such lady had been on the corner of North Temple and Main for 25 years, and her gig as a panhandle brought her $8,500 monthly. When I knew her, she had a brand new iPhone that I couldn't even afford! The LDS church has numerous homeless food pantries, housing partners and job placement social workers all around the world, especially seen in Utah, where they try to build Zion. Now you can say I'm defending them or whatever, call me "holier than thou" and a all that, but you don't even know me. I'll give you some insight there to maybe sway you from that argument: 3 years ago I was excommunicated from the church, and I'm only recently rebaptized. I pay 10% for tithing after all my bills come out, which many will tell you is a big no-no. Since being rebaptized, I've gotten 2 very large tattoos on both my forearms - the left side had my children's initials, and the right has my wife's name in a crescent moon. Yes, my bishop has seen them and asked about them. I told him what they were and told him I didn't feel the least bit bad for them. I received no backlash or punishment or anything of the sort. I also drink coffee on occasion (another no-no) because I'm a truck driver who drives at night through boring ol' Wyoming - literally the dullest state in the union. The coffee is occasional but sometimes very necessary; and yes, my bishop knows about that as well. As I said, I'm recently rebaptized, and I'm currently a primary teacher and ward missionary, and I moderate the stake social media. I hope my response helps you. 🙂

@@DannyAGray Good greetings Danny, finally got around to sharing my reply. It will be in the form of replies to each of your above sentences. Danny: 13 years ago I worked as a housekeeper in the Salt Lake temple. Reply: It is commendable that you worked as a housekeeper in the Salt Lake Temple. What this does is begin to give context and an opener to critical thinking, which is light and truth, or, in other words, intelligence. Danny: As you may or may not know, that temple is literally at the center of SLC, Reply: The center of SLC, similar to a Rameomptum, correct? Now I will follow with some questions: Isn't the Salt Lake Temple prime Real Estate in a Prime piece of land? And as the house of the 'Lord' it never, ever once allow the poor, the homeless, the sick and the afflicted to find respite at any day or night since all the years it was functional, correct? The Salt Lake Temple is a big and spacious building, is it not? Now then, as a big and a spacious building, isn't the Salt Lake Temple adorned with fine linen and golds and silver and precious things such as chandeliers and fancy furnishings? Danny: and the homeless population is pretty rampant. Reply: Enoch and its Zion were of one heart, correct? They were also of one mind, correct? They had zero poor among them, correct? They had all things in common, correct? There were no rich, neither poor among them, correct? So what god is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is worshipping, then, but the God of This World? Danny: I didn't know this beforehand, but panhandlers actually have territories they claim and routes they follow. Reply: So the example of the greatest among us affect those who are considered the least among us where they have to function in a way to survive, which is not the case for the vast majority of homeless created in the rest of the country and the world, because of the desires greed of those considered the greatest among us. The Church has territories and Real Estate they claim and they have prejudices they follow, do they not? Also, How much is each of the Presidency of the Church, which functions similarly to the Boss in a criminal organization, is worth? Moreover, how much is each of the Presidency of the Twelve and the Twelve apostles, who function similar to the Underboss and his Lieutenants, worth? You have witnessed an apostle be known for his great wealth, almost a billionaire, correct? As a servant of the 'Lord' wouldn't have he been instructed by the 'Spirit' to teach those who have less, how to end poverty by following his inspired path unto riches? Danny: Who knew! Reply: Yes, who knew the above about the church, who knew that the church pulls money from each precinct it is in the world in the form of tithing, gets is sent to SLC, then they use the same money to buy prime land and build precious buildings in those parts of the world, thus causing more poverty and more inequality while at the same time turning the poor away, yes, even the very ones who sent their 'tithes' in good faith? Danny: Anyway, I worked there for 2 years, and frequently took food out to the handlers, as did other people. Reply: Your heart is founded in the real Zion as a giver. Yet how many of the rest of the members did the same, including dental repairs, and emotional and legal healing, and embracing them as one of their own and bear their infirmities, as the Lord demonstrated and taught in both hemispheres? Danny: I was told several times by the panhandlers to not offer showers or cleaning up, because it took away from the image. Reply: Isn't that what The Church seeks, the praise and awe of the world? The leadership enjoying great attention with dignitaries and showered with titles and accolades and dressed with fine linen and living in homes that Christ would never live in, correct? Image, so who teaches image but the God Of This World? Critical, piercing Real Truth, isn't it? Danny: One such lady had been on the corner of North Temple and Main for 25 years, and her gig as a panhandle brought her $8,500 monthly. Reply: That lady, as you mentioned sounds like a stretch, but we shall go with that. That lady, had members embraced her, would not have they helped her, rather than judging her, by the way, the word 'panhandle' causes inequality, yet how many times you had to yourself endure the legal panhandling of businesses, yes, countless and countless ads, in the radio and other forms of communication, pulling far greater amounts than this obviously neglected lady? But I digress. If given love, affection, an LLC, wouldn't have been using her skills, instead, in becoming a marketeer or business owner, had members now shun her down because of her success labeled as 'panhandling' by those considered greater than her? Danny: When I knew her, she had a brand new iPhone that I couldn't even afford! Reply: Isn't the iPhone something to connect with others? And here's even more Real Truth: How many free iPhones are given away by Cell companies if you buy another? Moreover, if you really had wanted one, wouldn't you have paid one on a two year plan? Danny: The LDS church has numerous homeless food pantries, housing partners and job placement social workers all around the world, especially seen in Utah, where they try to build Zion. Reply: Yet what they do is follow the patterns of the world, for they are far from building any Zion: they are creating co-dependency and furthering inequality. What they should do instead is follow the plan that is perfect, taught by the three Nephites, in the Humanity Party. Yes, if you have a sincere heart and real intent, having faith in the Christ of knowledge between right and wrong, you would do all you can to implement that plan in Utah, where, by the way, the numbers of homeless families and individuals are growing at a far greater rate than services offered, because their design is after the God Of This World and none other god. Danny: Now you can say I'm defending them or whatever, call me "holier than thou" and a all that, but you don't even know me. Reply: You are sharing your experience an you have been prepared for the greater portion, as given in Ether 4, 13 to 19. Only those of true humble and meek hearts recognize there's a greater portion to be received, and your free will, your knowledge of right and wrong, your purpose for which you came into this existence will connect with what I am about to share with you, only if you are ready to receive the greater portion. Danny: I'll give you some insight there to maybe sway you from that argument: Reply: And Real Truth shall set you free: Danny: 3 years ago I was excommunicated from the church, and I'm only recently rebaptized. Reply: How can a church have the power to 'excommunicate' when it lost the true priesthood at the time Brigham Young and his cronies masterminded the murder of Joseph Smith and Hyrum Smith? Moreover, when was the church going to teach in Sunday school that in 1887 the United States of America had shut the church, yes, ceased to exist, because of crimes against humanity and the nation, through the Edmunds Tucker Act of 1887? Then amen to the church's priesthood in 1887, right? Actually when Brigham Young took upon himself, because of his greed, to call himself prophet, which he was not, he could never minister angels and neither see God face to face, nor any one man done that since, the priesthood was removed off the face of the earth since Joseph Smith's murder. Young even declared himself King of the Danites of the Kingdom of Deseret. So then the church ceased to exist until 1923, when the true founder of today's church, Heber J. Grant incorporated The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So what priesthood does the church have, but none other than that given by the God Of This World? They cannot minister angels like Joseph Smith did. They are unable to speak with God face to face, much less try to solve poverty and inequality, and furthermore, much less do they have any authority to 'excommunicate' anyone, yes, none. When are they planning to teach this in Sunday school? Yet the Real Truth will set you free. Danny: I pay 10% for tithing after all my bills come out, which many will tell you is a big no-no. Reply: Ten percent goes to the church, which then buys real estate, which then is developed to build big and spacious buildings for the glory of the God Of This World, so others are denied entry, unless they follow the commands of a 'church' no matter how faithful they are, so that after some tithing money is received for some time, the powers that be allow an entry permit, so that then a play, a play written by Joseph Smith meant to be shared publicly until Brigham Young hijacked it to sell religion for money, so that a play may be viewed by those raised in self righteousness, Zoramites, who in their hearts rejoice for being above others, because they can do 'saving' ordinances and works that Jesus never ever partook in. Danny: Since being rebaptized, I've gotten 2 very large tattoos on both my forearms - the left side had my children's initials, and the right has my wife's name in a crescent moon. Reply: It is awesome to have emblems that remind us of those we love. Danny: Yes, my bishop has seen them and asked about them. Reply: I would never ask if your bishop has seen them; for he is worshipping the position and what it brings him, besides Bishops ask, record on a laptop, and information is uploaded to headquarters. Danny: I told him what they were and told him I didn't feel the least bit bad for them. Reply: This would be called voluntarily disclosing information during a discovery. I will continue the replies in the following reply.

@@DannyAGray Part II Danny: I received no backlash or punishment or anything of the sort. I also drink coffee on occasion (another no-no) because I'm a truck driver who drives at night through boring ol' Wyoming - literally the dullest state in the union. Reply: Wyoming is beautiful, with buttes and amazing sunrises and sunsets. Now, If you read the Real Truth about the word of wisdom, you'd find out Joseph Smith created these 'revelations' because everyone had long missed the mark or fulness of the gospel: be happy without affecting the happiness of others. Joseph Smith found this to be the best way to stop the men from smoking and spitting/dirtying Emma's living room and home. Danny: The coffee is occasional but sometimes very necessary; and yes, my bishop knows about that as well. Reply: The church is showing it has its own rules which have nothing to do with Real Truth. Danny: As I said, I'm recently rebaptized, and I'm currently a Reply: Being part of an organization brings a sense of value to many. Danny: primary teacher and Reply: The church leadership know that people who join the church are really seeking recognition and a sense of value, and they use that to their advantage. Danny: ward missionary, and Reply: Titles, accolades, hierarchies, these give many a sense of importance while never realizing that those who do the works of Jesus seek nor accept any of that; as a matter of fact, if they could, they would not even want to have a name; none of that is more important to them than doing that which is in the greater portion. Danny: I moderate the stake social media. Reply: And now you have given a little of the Real Truth. There is zero value in needing the approval of a church that lacks any authority, and worse, one that has taken the glory of god unpon itself while ensuring that not one soul shall be lost. And which church is that as depicted in the temple endowment? You be the judge. Danny: I hope my response helps you. Reply: And we hope to welcome you soon to do greater Real Truth works that will bring you the greatest happiness. Remember tithing. Remember Chapter 12 of "The Sealed Portion, The Final Testament of Jesus Christ PDF" and may your free will and your knowledge of right and wrong be applied well, with critical thinking so it may guide you and free you from the lesser portion. All religions are mad-made. There are flaws in all of them. I left Christianity and there are good videos that show why religions are wrong and why their god does't exist. Matt Dillahunty, Seth Andrews, Holy Koolaid are some of my favorites. Aron Ra is ex-mormon so he can probably relate to what you are going through. Some people in the comments here talk about the people being the problem and not god. The god and the people following it are both part of the problem. Hang in there! :)

Since one of your hangups is polygamy, might I suggest checking out videos (or his book) of Brian Hales. While he is a member of the church, he's the single most studied authority on the church's history of polygamy, and he definitely doesn't sugar-coat any truth or facts. Some of it is uncomfortable to hear, but it's awesome information that will clear up any misinformation a lot of people put out.

Reach out to Melissa Dougherty on KZread, her website, or Facebook. Don’t give up on faith completely. Faith shouldn’t be blind; rather, it’s trust in someone/something for facts & reasons you know to be true. The Bible *is* true. Listen through Mike Winger’s “Evidence for the Bible” series. Choose God as He has revealed Himself to be in the Bible.

Yes, you can and should judge the church because it is the people. It is because of mind control and passive aggressive censorship-based folks like you that people find the Real Truth and leave Brigham Young’s church. You should contrast the original twelve vs today’s twelve multi-millionaires, lovers of positions and accolades and titles and seeking after the things of this world, teaching precepts of Brigham Young as if they were teachings of Christ… Joseph Smith himself was commanded to give the people what they wanted, a church of their own, because they had missed the mark. Even the resurrected Jesus Christ groaned within himself after giving the people the fullness of the everlasting gospel : 3 Nephi 12, 13, 14, basically Matthew 25:31-46 as they missed the mark, so he ended up giving them a church [they were the less wicked people] and would rather have a church and do as told by leaders than doing the things Jesus taught. Imagine you now studying chapters 12 and 20 of “The Sealed Portion, The Final Testament Of Jesus Christ PDF “ by Pearl Publishing, imagine more and more returned missionaries, as well as so many others, are now sharing these Real Truths with many, many others.

One HUGE coverup: The founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Heber J Grant, 1923. How come member’s don’t know this? Because the shame-you culture in the church controls them, cautions them, disfellowships them and excommunicates the should they desire to know the Real Truth. Chapter 12 is a great chapter that more and more returned missionaries. And many others, are now sharing with many ithers in “The Sealed Portion The Final Testament Of Jesus Christ PDF “ by Pearl Publishing

In 2010, church membership was 14.1 million. As of 2022, membership is at 16.8 million. It's almost DOUBLE in 27 years from the first 165 years! You're out of your damn mind of you think it's gonna stop, especially with the current whiney-baby, entitled, me-first Gen Z. You think your generation is so woke, but you're still sleeping to the truth. Sorry, truth and statistics are not in your favor.
