You only missed a 100 or so steps in the tear down. I'm sure all that saw dust did wonders for the transmission as well. I loved the part where you poked around in the ball bearing with a screw driver. That won't cause any damage. I feel like this is the video of how not to do it.

It might have been nice to see what your oil pickup screen looked like. If that was full of fibers, then your clutches were shot. The reverse clutches were the first ones you removed, and they didn't look burned. The forward ones looked dark, but it was hard to see them due to the light angle. I did notice at 4:03 that when you rolled the shuttle around that the disconnect solenoid turned. If the solenoid comes loose by unthreading itself, you will lose forward and reverse.

Do you know how to check if you have a bad solenoid on your shuttle ? When it’s moving forward or reverse it just quites and I have to turn off the engine and move the parking brake a few times for it to start to move again but now i can’t get it to move ? I don’t think it has to do with the clutches

@@fast68chevy the 60's 530ck was a shuttle shift. There was no solenoid. I have one.

good point Nathen Bush I will be rebuilding one from an older unit this summer a 1970 580 CK I just bought. Never rebuilt any case transmissions before so It will be fun to do. Good to see at least his process. There are a few videos on this type of transmission and as you said the first rings I think he called "springs " were clutch discs for reverse and it would have been good to see what his forward discs looked like as well also the pan and pick up. Was there sludge in the pan?/ Any grit?? how was the pick up screen?? Nathen you mentioned that the rears looked good. I know on farm tractors they usually do look good as you dont push much in reverese which is why there are less rears then forwards...etc Anyway thanks for the video Tim all infromation is good information...

Hey Tim, I am working on a 580C backhoe. Was working great forward , reverse. I pulled up to look at a spot where I would be digging the stuck it in reverse and the tractor would not move . It will drive forward . If you move it and then switch to reverse while moving it's like you slam on the breaks and still will not backup . Is the sylinoid is out will that stop it from shifting into reverse or bigger issues

Your intensions to share I admire, but you're not telling what you're doing and why. Which parts are you handling, what is exactly the problem and what are you looking for while analysing the problem? I'm about to start the same job and your vid simply does not supply any information. Hope this helps for explaning more in the next vid. Good luck

I get it Vanoss - but this Vlog is supposed to be more about the working side of myself and not the gaming side. I still want to do some awesome things with this channel - but for the most part it will be all work and very little play

I have a 580g 4x4 backhoe and the transmission normally shifts but it stopped going forward. There is strength for the back and no forward. It moves a little and slips. Is that the problem. Pozz

Have you managed to get it back together yet? Did you identify the actual problem? I've got a Case 580D with no forward gear, but reverse is still strong. I'm probably gonna have to tear the shuttle shift trans out and give it a rebuild

jcb 3cx 98 its a CASE 4 speed with a column lever shifted fwd/rev box in front of it so it is 8 speed total combined. this is a tractor, not a car or a truck, so it is ranges. top speed in 4th at 1900RPM is about 18 to 22 MPH. we have a late 60s early 70s one of these 580CK tractors. most of these were shuttle with a TQ converter and with a manual column shifter FWD/REV but a certain few had FWD REV pedals on floor liek a fork truck,. i think smaller ones like the 480 were pedals instead of column.

why don't build your self a work bench think find it easier on your back and clothing there also snap ring tool not that expensive make job easier put a tarp down on the floor before you moved that onto your plywood floor take it apart oil gone onto the tarp not stain and stink up the shad just throw the tap away after easier clean up just have to think and plan make task easier probably find a table from side of the road cut it in half screw it to the wall now have a bench cost nothing people all ways throw away desks or check the dump

most of the stuff in there is just unnecessary ballast

Y'all need to quit waisting money and rebuilding these. Buy a remain. What happens is there is a port in the case, that realisess fluid for reverse AND forward, the sleeve wears and the fluid leaks in the dtive port and wont build up pressure. Shops quit rebuilding shuttles because its not the kit you need, its a whole new shuttle. They are non rebbuildable. Only by a machinist... you're welcome lol
