Thanks for putting this together, some excellent info and has made me revisit my kit.
This is really help! Thanks.
Nice! Great info.
Have you ever tried that Binding repair glue in real winter temps? It may not even come out of the tube and it probably won't mix or set either. Use a thermos to pound a hole with your nail to remount the binding, I did that once. As for broken poles, I carry a few metal splints made of pieces hacksawed out of discarded poles and then use a few small hose clamps with them. Works well, done it twice. I also carry a couple of long neoprene crampon straps which would hopefully help keep a boot on a broken binding. Hard to find those nowadays though.
@wholesystems - The super glue, steel wool and extra screws let you temporarily fix a ripped out screw(s). In the event you rip out a screw it's going to be hard to find....the reason for extra screws. Also, some of the screws I carry are bigger / coarser threads.
Thanks, if they loosen, but not pull out then? Cool. I am only familiar with them pulling out, but imagine they loosen often too.
Just put an extra basket in my pack - thanks for that... and the screw thoughts.
@wholesystems - The screws would go back into an existing hole in the event you pull out a binding or screw(s). How much of this you bring is a personal preference - whatever makes you comfortable out there.
This is great information - thank you so much for doing this! Question about the binding screw tear out repair kit: You state that it is "super glue" but it appears to be a two-part epoxy of some kind. Can you please state more specifically what brand and make of glue you are using?
Seems good for multi-day, but heavy. How would use those screws without a drill?
