Hammock Camping and SUP fishing from Isle Switch Pro

Спорт

In this video, I'm going on a very different paddling adventure - I"m taking a stand up paddle board on a camping and fishing mission, and I'm doing it with a Bixpy motor on the back! I'm also camping with a hammock for the second time ever, and hoping that it's as enjoyable as my first time hammock tent camping.

Very informative video! My wife and I love being on the water. Due to various aging related body restrictions and the addition of a 90ish lbs dog, we ended up trading in the kayaks for iSUPs with seats. What would usually happen, is if I wanted to go further distance, I would end up towing my wife on the way back to help her out. Hence it didnt take long for me to think of adding electric motors (Bixpy) for paddle assistance. Now all three of us (includes our doodle) can enjoy being on the water for greater lengths of time. I use the Bixpy solar panels to top up the batteries when motor not is use when off the grid. Note that the motors dont like weeds, so you need to avoid weedy water areas. Other than that, adding the motors added new joy and less pain to our water adventures. I love all your videos. Thank you for the great reviews and advice!

This was a satisfying video, mixing fishing, camping and paddling. It never occurred to me that a SUP would be suitable for camping, but it worked just fine. As for the motor, I am a bit of a purist and like being under my own power to get where I'm going. The motor is great if it can get people who are unable to do all the paddling out on the water, and as I am getting older, someday that may be me - so I'll keep an open mind on that.

Awesome video. I’m ok with the motors as you said for the right reason. That may be the only way a person could get out on the water. Would rather see them out there than being denied the experience❤️

I love this! I fell in love with sea kayaking now 3 years ago but I recently bought SUP board after a 2 minute demo using my friend's board. Amazed at all the water views I was missing out on, I had to get my own. Oh wow, the perspective from standing opened and being able to see the fish and life in the water below my board opened up a whole new world for me. The SUP is so incredible versatile - you can stand, kneel or sit - it's great!

Right up my alley! Hammock Sup Camping is a blast. Have a 5 day trip in Yellowstone in a couple weeks, covering about 35 miles. Lots of fishing and some day hikes. There will be 5 of us on SUP’s with all our camping gear, 4 in hammocks. 15 years of hammock camping and manufacturing all the bits and added SUP to the camping gear last year. Love the combination of paddling and a relaxing restful nights sleep. Cheers.

I think I like the fishing from an inflatable paddle board idea. Way easier to move around than a heavy fishing kayak.

Larger (32"x11') and properly reinforced touring boards are quite heavy still. Carrying straps and/or wheels are still good equipment, especially when portages are involved.

During the pandemic, we weren't allowed to camp in tents in the scouts. Our group brought a load of hammocks and tarps and we haven't looked back since. 20 scouts in their hammocks in the woods turns it into such a little community, and if it's good weather you look up at the stars.

SUP camping is the best, except when you have friends in kayaks outpacing you and no motor except your body to keep up lol. Doesn't help that paddle boards can be loaded with 100+lbs of gear/food... This year I got a set of two-way radios so I can launch earlier than my friends that sleep in, and I can have a morning of easy floating to myself.

Those small motors are quiet. I have seen them in use and they are impressive. One of my least favorite smells is fuel when I'm paddling...even accidental fuel spills or leaks get into the water. One thing I appreciate about kayaking is how few negative environmental effects there are.. I hope solutions are found for cleanup and disposal of styrofoam and plastics.

I'm not a fan of SUP Boards However, I can see the benefits and the fun you can have with one, but not for me. However, great video Ken and yes I remember that spot when you had the drone up and saw your Yak floating away. As for your shoulder I feel your pain as I have a dislocated collarbone from years back but every now and again I feel it and I have to take time of the water, which leads me nicely into kayak motors I own the (Thrustme motor) which I only use now and again but on large open water and wow great fun and very fast if wanted. If you ever get the chance to try one I would Highley recommend you do and I give you a guarantee you will love it whether your on a big lake or in the Sea.

Make sure you do some range of motion exercises or your sore shoulder can become a frozen shoulder. Likely best to see a chiropractor or other medical professional. I’m a little older than you, and shoulders start to be a thing.

Oh heck yes, hammocks are the best, i'm stoked that you love yours! Now begins the slippery slope of "I wonder if i'd like a longer hammock even better?" and "How much more comfortable is an under quilt rather than this pad?", and before you know it, you have enough straps and tarps and hammocks and cool little hardware to loan out to a group of 5 hahaha

Lol. Ain't that the truth. When I started looking into switching to a hammock recently, I quickly realized that was the case for so many people! I took the plunge and got a Superior Gear with built in under quilt. Hopefully I'm one and done! Big tarp with doors too.

Just wondering how with it being inflatable you'd put registration numbers on it. In Iowa, USA any watercraft with a motor, no matter the size, has to be registered and have registration numbers on it.

@Rottingboards figure since inflatables make up such a small percentage of water craft. We don't have much hope of legislation change. Unless, some manufacturer puts a lobby group at the state capital. Kind of like when we got blackpowder deer seasons. Between Knight Rifles and the Iowa Blackpowder Federation they financed the lobbying groups.

1:19: What paddle is that? 5:00: Taking five weeks off, perhaps (not years)? 29:10: Who said, "Thou shalt not put a motor on an SUP or a kayak"? Even if anyone actually did, on some lost tablet, why should anyone freaking care? There is no ultimate higher authority when it comes to... why, anything! 29:58: Who and circumstances; you've nailed it right there! Discussion closed! 30:30: All the situations which matter (for free hands; when someone has sustained an injury; extra help when paddling gets tough; safety). All we need now is more seamless integration - which technology will surely bring about, and soon.

Motors on paddle craft should be limited to around paddling speeds and I absolutely don't like the idea of electric engines enabling larger and faster boats than were previously used in bodies of water. Good regulations needed.
