I do it for 2 reasons. 1st is that I was taught a long time ago it's proper casino etiquette to spin off a nice line hit. The second is that after a handpay you usually still have credits in the machine. Being in the habit of doing a backup spin serves as a good reminder to cash out those credits before walking away with my handpay.

Etiquette? It benefits the casino. Some of us might avoid a machine that indicates it gave a jackpot. I saw a video of older machines in which the screen had a message indicating the jackpot was paid.

@@carlh1964 This was a fairly commonly known and practiced etiquette at least in my circles back in the day. But it was even starting to wain then. I'm not sure why exactly it was practiced but I'm sure it stems from the myth that if a game pays out it won't hit again until it takes more money in. Even knowing that is not the case it's hard for anyone to walk up and see a big hit on the reels and not have some level of uncertainty or disappointment. It's like flushing the toilet when you're done. Nobody wants to walk up and see what you did. It was just seen as common courtesy at one time. I not only practice it but I will even occasionally spin off these hits for others when I see them. Sometimes it pays off too.

​@@carlh1964- I don't think that's how the machines work. One time I was at the casino and a woman won more than $16,000+ and that wasn't even the grand jackpot that was advertised. She only bet 0.88¢ and spent about a total of $150. The advertised grand jackpot was $10,000+. I watched when they delivered her the handpay, and right after, she put $100 in the machine at $2.88 bet and the very next spin, she won $300!! She then played that $100 down to where she cashed out and had about $75 left on her ticket. I jumped on her machine and for the first time ever made the biggest bet on my first spin at $1.88 and I won $6 - from that spin!! So even after a machine pays a big jackpot, you could still win a good amount.

Great stuff Brandon I recently witnessed a fellow slot player who had hit a nice big one $3250 at the Talking stick Az she got paid then I said that’s awesome she was a rookie and asked me what should she do she had thirteen five dollar credits in it and I said Max be of course she does it and unbelievably It rolled up Triple Red Hot , Triple Red Hot , and a red seven for another big banger $5400 dollars it was epic for her and I enjoyed it too! I do, one of my best bonuses ever was followed by another 2 spins later that retriggered and was my best bonus ever. I do 4 to 8 and cash out depending on amount won.

If you are required to clear the screen of the Jackpot, bet the lowest amount necessary. Otherwise you tipped the slot attendant and then you tipped the casino. 🙂 You already received your money. If it's a casino requirement, how do they force you?

Yes every spin is independent but maybe the accounting is trying to balance out.

it happened to me won $800 off a5$ bet decided to spin again 5 spins latter hit a $1500 jackpot. So i always do 7 back up spins 5 if the bet is high limit. I have never though had a back to back bonus or line hit.

It just means playing another spin after a big hit instead of walking away immediately.

Some casinos want the jackpot to be spun off because people are superstitious and if they see a jackpot on the screen, they might avoid playing the machine. It’s just good etiquette.
