Back to training and NEW Hook-Grip Style?
Спорт
In this video, I'm reviewing the 73kg category from the last Olympic qualifier competition, where Rahmat and Rizki from Indonesia fight for their place in the 2024 Olympics, and showing an interesting hook grip style used by Rizki in the snatch.

Wow, thanks!
I think that the "new" hook grip is due mainly to thumb flexibility: having it to be mainly wrapped by the middle finger for him is giving more tension in the grip, while maybe if he, with this thumb flexibility, would try to wrap the thumb with the index finger wouldn't have a sufficient tension... what do you think?

I use the middle finger for hook and thats exactly why I use it. I simply don't feel secure enough with just the pointer.

you need to use bouth, and not only the pointer, and using only the middle finger is not recommended neither. check out my hookgrip video if you want to see how is the corect way of using it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2tolaabg9i1fqQ.htmlsi=mxV2_BwQQOjlcHhQ

you don't need to have any tension when you use hookgrip right, actually it's required to have it loose, especially on the snatch, check out this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2tolaabg9i1fqQ.htmlsi=mxV2_BwQQOjlcHhQ
I was also surprised they went so heavy so close to competition, good to know I wasn't crazy
I’ve hook gripped my middle finger for a while, honestly didn’t realize it was strange to do so

Great as usual. On the topic of normal hook grip (not like in this video), do you think it’s important to also have the ring finger around the thumb? Or is it okay to only have the pointer finger and middle finger around the thumb?

I can do it if it will be helpful for my audience :)
Maybe they hook grip like that because they have small hands. With my small hands I can only hook grip if I use my middle finger to wrap the thumb.
@gsincraian

I don’t think you get it correct the method that they are using, because they don’t use the pointer, so it’s not have sense if they have small hands

Karma is a b****! Rahmat was basically an assh*** all the qualifying period, competition in the C sessions trying to be too cool for school. Everybody hyped him up because literally all the other top lifters were injured. When it counted you could see their lack of experience. Hopefully their federation do actually send Rizki
