    The reference to ‘made in Japan’ is also to the fact that in the 1950s Japanese manufacturing and electronics had a bad reputation, not unlike ‘made in China’ has for so long been synonymous with poor quality. As you noted, this reputation changed so quickly that it would have sounded funny to someone in 1990.

    As for the second Delorean, when putting a vehicle into long-term storage (70yrs; 1885-1955), you would drain all of the fluids. Doc, being a scientist & engineer, would know this. So, there wouldn't be fuel left in the gas tank.

    I love everything about the trilogy. I was a teenager in the mid-80's and was instantly hooked when the original came out. Part 3 really highlights the brilliance of Tom Wilson. Of course Biff was integral to the first 2 movies, but I think BTTF is generally thought of as a Michael J Fox & Christopher Lloyd franchise (for good reason). Unlike both of them Tom was unknown before we were introduced to Biff, but he definitely deserves more love for the range he shows throughout the trilogy culminating with "Mad Dog" Tannen.

    Doc Brown, being a genius, would know that fuel degrades after a certain amount of time, it might even have damaged the Delorean's fuel lines, so he would have drained the tank before sealing away the time machine. Given the limited shelf life of refined petroleum, and having little use for it in 1885, he probably disposed of it months ago

    The empty fire extinguisher is not a reference to Doc's mansion burning down. In the first film after we see the newspaper saying Brown Mansion Destroyed, Doc said it took him almost 30 years (and his entire family fortune) to realize the vision he had the day he came up with the flux capacitor. The obvious inference is that he himself burned down his mansion to get the insurance money to finance his dream.

I love how it ties the rest of the movies together and also the relationship between Doc & Marty gets so much sweeter. When docs reading the letter, when they're talking about women, there are just so many good moments that no other two actors could have pulled off. • @Hezkezl

    @Hezkezl

    Actually, Doc being sent back to 1885 originally is what changed the Clayton Ravine thing. In the original timeline without him there, the Mayor didn't have anybody to send to pick her up at the train station so she rented that wagon and died going over the edge. With Doc there, he went and picked her up and they still fell in love and she erected the tombstone after he died. Marty and Doc both know Calyton Ravine's name because it was that way when they were growing up in the original timeline. Doc going back probably would've made the ravine keep it's "old Indian name" the whole time, so kids in that altered timeline wouldn't know what was being talked about if Clayton Ravine was ever said. With Marty going back and distracting Doc by being there, Clara never got picked up at the station so she rented the wagon anyways and would've been forced into her original fate if Doc didn't manage to ride up and save her just in time. So, yeah... to reiterate: Without Doc being there, she would've gone over the ravine. With Doc there, they fell in love and he died 2 days after being shot. With Marty and Doc being there, she would've gone over the Ravine but Doc saved her just in time. The Mayor didn't show up to ask Doc about it because Marty was there, Doc being there in the first place made the Mayor ask. @cob2076

    There was two things in an earlier draft of BttF3 that dealt with the gasoline pothole. Initially, the transmission was damaged and that was problem. In a later draft Doc said that he had removed all the fluids from the Delorean to preserve it. Also, he didn't want to dig up the Delorean in the mine just in case they would potentially damage it making the other one erased from the timeline.

    Part 3 just gives you that final feeling, like this is the end. The downside I’ve always had for part 3 is that it doesn’t feel like the same timeline from part 1, meaning that you don’t feel like this all happened in a very recent time period for Marty.
