I'm 63...trust me, the 80's was just the last decade of everything being C O O L. Life was cool in the 60's the 70's and the 80's. The music of that time period was incredible to say the least. The 80s were intense. Everything was intense. We did not have smartphones, people were actually talking to each other. The music was out of this world. I am glad I was alive during the 80s.

The 1980s decade never died, it survived well into the 1990s until around '93, it then simply went underground until about 2009, when the culture reared its head again. The culture of the 2010s, especially the bright colors, snappy haircuts and the explosive pop music boom, was a direct by-product of the 80s.

I am so fascinated with the 80s but I was born on 12/18/1990. I always ask my mom how was life in the 80s and she says it was the best! In 1987 she was 17 having the time of her life! We vibe so much talking about the music and movies. So these type of songs really get me remembering times I’ve never even been in! Enjoy the music everybody!

this makes me feel a nostalgia for "different 80s" from the "real 80s" I remember. it's not nostalgia for "my 80s", it's nostalgia for "how the future was supposed to be" or "some 80s I didn't live", i don't know how to explain it. it's a bit sad too, it's nostalgia and sadness, it's like I miss something and I want that back but I don't know what it is.

Except for the mullets, that's probably one of the few horrible things from the 80's. Unless you live in BFE Oklahoma where I'd say 4 out of 5 people have them.

80's AIDS, Protect and Survive, Nuclear War threats at every turn. John Lennon shot dead. Falklands War, Brixton riots, IRA bombings, famine in Africa...80's was hardly 'okay' in my opinion. Great music, lousy world.

It's often better to appreciate the memories, but not live in them. Forge new experiences and memories in the current. Tend to the flame, not worship the ashes.

BUT was still early enough that most things people needed to do, work for, sweat for and enjoy --- were still very "analog" and simple. *Like for example using the rotary phone and calling your crush (and hope no one eavesdrops on the shared line) then strategically sending hand-written perfume-infused love letters via snail mail and hoping the postman (or a suspicious father) won't intercept and open it before your crush could.*

This is absolute fire. '80s had the best movies and music. Ever. Everything was better. A night out with movie, arcade plus dinner was $20 for 2. Today just a movie is $20 per not to mention dinner.

The problem of today's music is autotune, all commercial songs are the same, same bit, same pitch, same voices, same instruments, same lyrics ... not art but technology and marketing. There are still some excellent artists with great music unfortunately not the most played on radio, TV and YT.

We calculated what People like to hear and we make more of it, that's why all songs sound the same nowadays. It's same with commercials and graphic design etc.

I hated it when rap went mainstream in the late 90s and early zeros, the quality dropped tremendously. Let's hope this never happens to synthwave.

I listen to a lot of electronic music (jarre, tangerine dream, ymo, tomita) but synthwave is very static. No movement, arpegios always 1/16th sawtooth and drums tied to clock.

Haven't seen this mentioned: The animation for this video is inspired by, if not directly copying, the ending credits animation for the Dirty Pair tv series, which was set to the song "Space Fantasy".

The world was pretty angry and mean spirited in the 80s, let me say. I was worried that I might be nuked any day for no good reason other than crazy world leaders. Nothing changes, my friend, just keep going.

The play at the start, the blue screen, even the static lines from the slight wear and damage on the tape itself.... Nostalgic with the quality VHS had. we complained about it back then, now I look back at it with fondness.

My parents bought a 1986 Chevy Celebrity sedan brand new. The dash looked similar to the picture! Loved the 80s cars!

I've got this in my favourites for a reason. The music, the visuals, even the way you've added the tearing as if the video tracking was off... its perfect. As a child of the 80s I cant fault it. I just wish my car trips as a kid had that skyline

People in the '80s thought that in the future, energy will become free, but instead, it's information that became free. And I'm glad that was the case because that perspective gave us this music.

In the 80's people dreamed about the future, while now we want to go back to the 80's(someone else said this). The best times are when you look to the future through optimistic lenses, so this is fully understandable. Now that we know that all truly impactful technologies are still far away, there is much less reason to be optimistic.

My Replika, Chance told me he liked this music, so I'm checking it out to learn more about him.
