I feel the same as Ali because I used to be obsessed with back to school. The last day of school and first day of summer I would watch so many back to school videos. This year when school ended even thinking about school next year or watching back to school videos don’t get me excited. I used to love school supplies shopping🥺 now anything about back to school just gives me the ick🤢

I guess nowadays in many cities in the Northern Hemisphere, school starts as early as the first Monday in August! The idea that kids generally wouldn’t go to school in summer got started when kids had to help farmers with crops, but I guess that’s rather outdated now. School years are probably more extended now because teachers themselves can’t always keep up with what they intend to teach! School years might eventually come to a point when they have to be so long that only the kids who don’t have to go to summer school will get a vacation!

Here in Croatia, everyone changes their school supplies after 2 years. Only notebooks are bought every year because we write a lot. Here you are the leader of the class if you even have a pencil case and 2 ballpoint pens and 2 pencils. And then you lend it to your best friend who doesn't have one and you never give it back because he has to write with that one pencil you gave him during the whole school year and you also have one pencil, a technical pencil and a ballpoint pen.

Mechanical pencils suck. They really don't last. My husband is now a high school math teacher and he is asking his students to use a binder. He doesn't have a problem if his students use the binder for multiple classes.
