Back to School in Babylonia: The Aims of Babylonian Education | Susanne Paulus, ISAC
What was it like going to school in Babylonia? Who were the students? How did they learn to read and write cuneiform? In conjunction with our newest special exhibition Back to School in Babylonia, this lecture explores school life in ancient Babylonia around 1740 BCE using a school and its artifacts excavated by the Joint Expedition to Nippur of ISAC and the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. While exploring the curriculum and topics of education. UChicago professor, Susanne Paulus, addresses the aims of Babylonian education more broadly, touching on topics like literacy, skill training, and the formation of a scribal elite.

How did I miss we finally got another Susanne Paulus. I genuinely believe she should go on Lex Fridman or the like. She has incredible questions, great research and is absolutely adorbs.

I am in possession of a Babylonian geometry stone that measures 2"×2". It was a part of my grandfather's collection. What is the best way that I can learn what this Stone actually is and it's purpose?
