Back to KGALAGADI & KRUGER - but first a prelude at RIETVLEI
We are heading back to the Kgalagadi and the Kruger for more adventures but first we have a spare day in Johannesburg so we are taking a trip to Rietvlei Nature Reserve about half an hour drive north. Join us there and as we head on to the Kgalagadi.

I was at Rietvlei when they still had their rhinos (all six were poached some years ago...).

That would have been good to see. Have you seen the cheetahs there?

@@oldcodgerwithacamera I haven't seen the cheetahs, no.
Just watched episode 1 - enjoyed it a lot, just a pity it was interrupted by several commercials (i do hope you get some royalties on those !)

Glad you enjoyed it but it's rather disappointing that there are adverts. I have deliberately NOT monetised the channel on the (seemingly mistaken) understanding that adverts only appear on monetised channels. Obviously I don't get adverts when watching from my own profile but I have watched some of my videos on another profile and have only had an advert at the beginning, never in the video itself. Maybe KZread target adverts to the person watching? Nobody really knows how they do it as far as I can see. I'd be interested to hear from other people on the number of adverts they see as if it is widespread and I can't do anything about it I might as well sign up for the royalties.

@@oldcodgerwithacamera it was interrupted 6 times - do not recall which adverts it were as I am not interested at all - each advert goes for about 5 sec not too bad but I preferred not to have these having said that if I were you I would definitely ask for some kind of compensation Anyway I will continue watching as I love the feel to be in the wild - we were in Kruger first week of February just left when the floods started - hope it was not too inconvenient afterwards. Thanks for sharing your drives please do go on 👍👍👏👏

Thanks for that info. We were certainly affected by the aftermath of the floods but I'll let you watch the Kruger videos when they come along to find out how. 😉
So is it cheaper to rent a vehicle in Joburg and drive rather than flying into Upington and renting a vehicle?

There's a lot more choice in Joburg so more chance of getting a good deal. Not sure what the cost of flying to Upington is but driving there has got to be cheaper although you then have to factor in a couple of days extra hire to get there. I think time and convenience is the major factor in such a decision.
