Спорт

Introduction to the correct way to use back tension along with tips on getting a tension style release to work smoothly for you. I take the Nock On Carter Silverback and show how consistent it is as well as the correct muscles to use for back tension and how to make these releases work best for you.

I've just bought a Carter Evolution (basically the same release) and this video has answered so many questions I had after shooting it for a couple weeks. For creating such a clear and in depth video I must thank you sir. Great work.

Thanks for another great video Robert, although it was posted 3 years ago!...lol. I’ve been working with a Carter Evolution and really love it. After over 20 years shooting compound, I’m re-learning how to execute my shot. The Evo has taught me to pre-load and “stay in the back”. That’s probably the biggest challenge with it as for years I had been letting off the back tension when my bow reaches the let-off at full draw. One other issue I’m having is that the hook (“sear”?) tends to shred my D-loop despite my having polished it to a high shine on the inside. Is that one of the reasons you switched to the SilverBack or was it purely for the 2 finger handle? Thanks Dan

I never had an issue with the d loops when I had an evo. I purchased the SB for the two finger design though. It could be the thickness of the loop possibly, but it's most likely the hook on the evo even after polishing it.

@@rcrcherythank you for taking time to respond. Sounds good. But for what it's worth, I don't think it was my polishing job. It's definitely SMOOTHER with after I polished it. I've read other complaints about the shredding on Archery Talk and this is the 2nd Evolution + I've had. The first one had very sharp corners on the sear and shred even worse. Thank you either way.

I struggle with maintaining back tension when approaching and even reaching full draw. Making myself a little vulnerable here in sharing... I've had some close calls with the release letting go when I wasn't maintaining that back pressure, which caused some misfires and unsafe situations. This has steered me away from tension releases. I appreciate any links or tips to get me back on track.

In this situation I think being intentional in your shot routine is the best route to take. Write a simple one down on paper: Stance, bow hand, release/release hand grip, raise bow, draw, anchor, load muscles, increase tension to steadiest hold, shot execution. Or something similar that works for you. But just being intentional about what you're doing and making sure you're building tension at anchor to achieve your steadiest sight picture.

I agree, I don't think it was your polishing job either. Just the design they have on the release.

Do you recommend getting and learning the Silverback before moving to the Nock2It? Or does it matter?

The Silverback, or another resistance release, is a great training tool for starting out and I recommend them a lot.

Would you recommend a Silverback for someone as his first ever release? Also his ONLY release? (I'm kinda on a budget) I'm dedicated to put in the extra work it takes, but I dont want to keep different ones for different shootings. Do you think it can work? Thank you!

ABSOLUTELY! I actually prefer starting every archer on a tension release because it teaches so much to them about form, bow fitment, the correct muscles to use and not use, and how to execute your shot.

I'm looking at the silverback and mini silverback. Which one are you using in the video?

That's a standard. You can tell by the size of the finger opening.

J V is correct it is the standard version. The mini wasn't available at the time and my hands would be bigger than what I'd like to use on a mini.

rcrchery then you just end up with a ton of releases or whatever you’re reviewing? Do you then resell them or what do you do with them?

Depends on the item. Sometimes I keep them and use them, sometimes I'll sell them.
