I second that!!! I own the TDI version of this car. It is fun to watch your experience on this car. I drove one of these cars in stock form and it was fast! I would love to drive your tuned car. You are right Wizard in your analysis of the finance of fixing the turbo S. But these are rare cars, they are not making them, and I do not see a replacement for them. I also agree that these cars are fast, street legal go carts. Extremely fun, and interesting to look at for some reason. The seats are comfortable, plenty of headroom, great visibility. VW made an affordable Porsche, styled like the old 911. But this car quickly got unofficially branded as a girl car so sales died.☹️ I look forward to your brake upgrade you spoke of. Great car Wizard and you are my favorite car channel on KZread.

We have owned a 2002 Black Turbo S since January 2003. Bought it from original owner at about 10k miles. About 166k now. The list goes on and on, but will prolly never sell him. Darth Bug.

It is so great to see two friends interacting in a car video like this... pretty much opposites in most ways, they go together well and bring out the best in each other! The icing on the cake is having Mrs. Wizard behind the camera... putting in her two-cents worth. If I see a new Hoovie or Car Wizard has been posted, I click on it right away and hit the thumb's up button before it even starts playing. Because I already know that I'm going to like it!
The 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle Turbo S is now complete and it is now reliable enough to be on the road for a long time. Also, it has the 1.8 L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and it has the six-speed manual transmission. These older, Volkswagen New Beetles are great vehicles to buy. Thanks.
Around 16:30 "quit thinking about used underwear. " 😳😆🤣
Poor Mrs. Wizard for getting tossed around in the back of the drive.
You finally got her done! Good for El Capitan Wizard. I hope you enjoy that beauty for many days to come. Kudos to you for your passion to devote yourself self for restoring (almost fully)and a true classic that will inspire more people to do the same. I remember when this fantastic machine made its way on the scene. I’ve always wanted one but as I grew older the desire was abandoned. I hope this true classic treats you well in many days to come. 🤙

Did all new brakes...rotors, calipers, flex lines, EB cables. Frt struts with springs. Bought cheap so we about $2500 Canadain in so far I did all the labour as well. It will be my wife's daily driver but I look forward to some fun in it too. Great videos guys.....love your channel !

So glad for your videos! And thank you for your response on where to get the shim kit. Because of you I was able to diagnose and fix the problem. I got the shim kit put in my 04 turbo S yesterday and the sound is gone completely! THANK YOU!
You two are amazing together!! 😂😂 had me laughing and hanging on to every second of the video!
7:00 Why doesn't anyone use carbon fiber weave for a headliner fabric? Just glue it up and leaving it as soft fabric. Tint out the back windows.
Please never stop making videos your information is invaluable.
I rewatched this series on the turbo Beetle, and it helped me realize how much I miss my Beetle. Had to give it up because it developed too many pricey problems (steering rack, radiator). My wife and I agree when we can we will get another.
finally something good in 2020.

Me too because it’s the one l was trying to order but they are sending the white one.
Please keep on doing updates on Wartortle. Having a New Beetle, I find them facinating. Thank you for the videos so far. As for the heater control and dashboard, if you replace the cabin/pollen filter, you'll have to take it apart anyway, and it can be done without causing damage (it's not hard, but is a bit tricky). When I replaced my cabin filter, I found some of the insulation missing from under the dash panel, and a ball of it as part of a (thankfully vacated) mouse nest.
Tyler needed a maid outfit for the intro... would've been perfect xD!

Only Beetle I ever truly like War Tortle
Looks great! Thanks for sharing the costs.
You can really tell how close Wizard and Hoovie are. A great friendship and I enjoy it when they both do video's together.
Congrats on your car Wizard and Mrs Wizard. Once I had a drive in one of the old VW and one of the exaust pipes had a hole and the noise from that one dominated and made the car sound like it had 2 cylinders instead of 4. As a kid I used to sit in the small hole, right over the engine, in the one we had in our family. I'd love to see You guys fix and drive one of the old VW some time.
Always been a big fan of these, I was a VW salesman back in the day and we only used beetles as service loan cars, never demonstrators or company cars because nobody liked them. Therefore they were always full of fuel so I took them and loved it. 2.3 V5 cabriolet was my favourite but extremely rare. The cabriolet also had the amazing speaker setup as standard. As simple as a MK4 golf but somehow much more fun. Just avoid the 1.4 and 1.6 litre ones. Great project wizard.
Loved this! You guys make me happy!
What a great repair! You really have a magic hand.
Great show, Wizard. This is such a cool little car, I have essentially the same car with a different body shell, albeit tuned to 210 hp from factory and with Brembo breaks. A SEAT Leon Cupra R from 2003, not sold in the US, you'll find them in Mexico and Europe. I did almost 300k km to this little 1.8 turbo engine from new. Much respected little car in Spain where I live.
Hoovie is such a true mate, but then again the wizard is worth it as a friend.
Finally got the headliner installed, nice!
Laughed out loud at the candid content. No forth wall here and good quality, cheers mate!
Love these guys together
What an entrance! Tyler, I'll take a Third of whatever yer on! I love when you two team up for an episode.
These are wonderful cars - nice job saving it and keeping it stock
Good stuff. Congrats Wizard 🧙♂️
I had a MK1 Skoda Octavia vRS with similar 1.8 engine. Replaced the clutch with Carrado VR6, custom exhaust & ECU mapping modes. Made a huge difference to performance. 👍 But after a few years the gearbox dead. Sold it to a VW mechanic. He was happy.
This is proof that small cars are often the most fun of all to be around. You can use the power, you can chuck them about a bit, and the costs are not bank breaking so they are far less worrysome. You don't get them in the USA, but my kids both run Skoda Fabia 1.2 litre three cylinder cars, and they are an absolute hoot to drive, well made and cost buttons to run.
Congrats Wizard!! She running around and back on the road.
I just love how humble and simple the CarWizard is 🥺
Wizard, you've come so far with your presenting. Keep at it, you're doing great!
