I think that the little Orca is actually meant to hold pot scrubbing pads next to your kitchen sink

Sharlene you beat me to it but yes, my grandma made the frogs, I agree it's a scrubbing pad holder.
Best baking tip I ever received was to butter/grease your Bundt pan and then dust it with sugar (rather than flour) to ensure an easy release. When you use flour it creates almost a glue situation and your cake will stick. I've never worried about any Bundt cake since learning this trick :-)

@ThePennsylvaniaCelt do you use granulated sugar or powdered sugar ? The sugar doesn't caramelize or burn?

Y'all..."cake goop" is amazing! One part shortening or margarine, one part neutral cooking oil, one part flour. Mix it well and store it at room temperature. Slather it liberally in your cake pans. The baked goods release perfectly, and that combo doesn't leave a greasy or floury "crust"!

I would think that whale was actually to hold a kitchen sponge. Usually I see big mouth frogs.

It is a scubbie holder for the kitchen....
I collected midcentury/vintage goblets for my wedding last October! We collected every color/style. Every seat at the reception had a different glass. It was by far my favorite part of our decor and was a hit with our guests. We allowed our guests to take them home as their favor if they wanted. My husband and I had such a fun time collecting them over the year of planning. Whenever we go thrifting I still catch myself looking for them!

What a fun idea! I'm sure you're going to be in "vintage goblet mode" for a very long time.
You pick up things, and I have no idea what they are, but you know. And you recognize so many items as artist-created, often knowing who the artist is - I am seriously impressed at the education your research has yielded. You also have quite the knack for decorating. Wish I did!
Laura, you are by far the best thrifter/reseller. Your pieces are absolutely amazing & fun. 🤗

No way! I wonder if it was the same location I went to last summer!
Just a thought...the crystal glass bowl that you mention to put bar tools in could be the bowl for olives or lemons/limes at the bar or any fruit. Love all your finds and designs. Safe travels to Europe. God bless you two.
The whale is used in the kitchen around the sink area to put soap pads, scouring pads in.
The 4 bowls are berry bowls in EAPG in the Daisy and button pattern.
I like your little whale, I used to make these in ceramics they are used to put your sponge in at your sink. But they can be used for all kinds of things.
Your Bundt pan could be a molten lava cake for your Tiki party🥰
The whale is for sitting beside your kitchen sink to hold your dish scrubbers😊
Laura, get back from ur European trip already... I'm dying to see a glimpse into what you saw and did!!! Cheers!! Hope ur having a BLAST!!!!

Lol I just got here!! Haha day 1 in London today was magnificent!!! So excited to share soon!
The whale reminds me of when they used things like that to hole scrubber in the kitchen or bathroom.
The whale is a sponge holder to keep next to your kitchen sink. They were big in the 70’s. 🌷
That's the sweetest story about the orcas...true passions start when you're young...what a lovely person you are!
IMO the whale looks like one of those things you put at your sink to hold your sponge or a round scrubby.
I think the whale is a scrubby holder for the kitchen, not an astray??
The wide mouth orca is used at the kitchen sink for sponges or scouring pads. We had a widemouth frog at our sinks
The bomb shelter is so cool. I think its neat that your're cool with Jesse designing the entire thing. You seem like such a nice couple. Can't wait to see it. PS. absolutely love your channel and look forward to each video. Thanks so much.

The orca whale with large mouth was used for scrubbers near sinks in the late 70s
That cute little whale reminds me of the frogs my grandma made in her ceramics class (she taught in her basement). The froggies had their mouths open like that and they were intended to be on the kitchen sink for your brillo pad, pan scrapper or scrubbing sponge. I still have one. So that would be another great use for the whale and maybe even what he was intended for.
you are absolutely an amazing designer , i love always watching your amazing design .
Think the parks whale was for kitchen scrubbies
Ahhh! Your the girl from the Rick Springfield song! Your Jessie's Girl!
I saw a good idea somewhere that suggests buying the wine baskets at thrift stores to use when you gift a bottle of wine, just add a bow!

So nice to see you, Laura. You put things together well.
One of my favorite episodes!! I love wood & brass, so I appreciate your passion!
I am waiting on your book filled with lots of colorful photos of how to style different ways like you do in your videos. I tried to pause the KZread videos so I can see things but it never stops on the place that I wanted to. You have an amazing sense of style!
I think the whale is a sponge holder.
I never thought I would be excited about a tiki party. It is not my thing, but I have watched you for years collecting, so I am excited for you. I am praying it is everything you want it to be. You should have a viewer win a personal invite LOL
I’ve made many Bundt cakes…the best tip I’ve ever had (besides the usual grease well and dust with flour!) is to put a few inches of hot water in the sink lay a tea towel in the bottom of the sink..when you take Bundt pan out of oven let it cool somewhat.. then set it in the hot water for five minutes…the cake will come out perfectly when you tip it on to rack
My best finds this week, lucite purple grapes on wood branch and a 1930s Moulieres Paris France Mouton Lamb Fur Coat.
Vistied NYC from Savannah Ga for Easter Weekend. As I walked up to the first Vtg table at the Grand Bazaar Flea on upper west side I see an "OPIUM" vintage Apothecary Jar. I asked the vendor how much and he said $8!!! I almost couldn't breathe. ($125-$300 value). I wish we could post photos on here and then I would show it off. It is CRAZY COOl! I will keep it forever.
I think the orca is used to store your sponge next to the sink. Like the frogs !
Great eye, great haul! I love the little Daisy/Button pattern bowls. I also noticed a beautiful American Brilliant period Buzz Saw pattern dish. I always loved the clear cut crystal and glass. I hope it makes a huge comeback. It breaks my heart to see people pass by it in Goodwill videos. Kudos to you for picking such beautiful pieces!

I love what you shared at the end with the table top designing. It’s so fun to see how you use things and your generosity helps inspire others to also have fresh eyes for things we might normally not look for at GW to buy.
The wine decanter you found, my parents and grandparents had that particular style. They used to put coloured water in them and use them as decoration by the window. It was pretty when the sun would shine through it. I love the jacket and top your found. We used to have a bar in our basement, which was used as a family room. My dad made the bar and stored his bourbon ( Jim Beam, Crown Royal, London Gin ), plus glasses. Thanks again for the memories.

Was thinking the same thing.
The orca is a scrubby holder for your kitchen sink.
Hi Laura! The cute whale with the open mouth, he’s a holder for your sponge/scrubber! Love your videos! C.🍋
My grandma had the bowls you thrifted. I believe they’re berry bowls and would have had a larger bowl in the set. Fun finds! Have fun in Europe!
The set of small glass bowls look like button and daisy pattern. The whale looks like what my mom used by the sink to hold a scrubby sponge.
Your necklace…😍😍😍
Thank You for another show! Ya'll are Movie Stars!
Cute orca, but yeah I think it's a sponge holder
The blue glasses are Depression Era usually. Thumbprint pattern. Pressed not cut glass and they are lovely. I have a red set.
That funky pottery piece towards the end with 3 drainage holes could also hold some cooking utensils on your countertop
Can't wait to see your trip to Europe. Be safe and most of all have fun.
I have made the 🎄 cake pan. Pound cake work best. Alot of times people will pass and their collections will be taken to goodwill
I think the whale is for kitchen scrubbers.
I think that whale is a dish sponge holder
My first thought about the whale piece was not that it was an ashtray but that it was a sponge holder. The sky is the limit!
You could put feathers in those little wooden vases and are you sure the whale was an ashtray or is it like those little frogs that you find to put your SOS pads or sponges in?
The whale is for a dish scrubber
Hi Laura. I have a thing for metal baskets also. I remember my mom having those and it’s a wonderful memory so I have collected a couple like I really like.
WHALE IS FOR A BRILLO PAD❤️
5:40 I am loving the Ginko leaves that are embroidered on your jacket. I wish I could run across a jacket like yours that would fit me.
That little vase with the flowers in the beginning of the video, it's not Mexican, it's Hungerian! I find bowls and vases and crocks like that all the time at the thrift shops here in Sweden, they are so pretty!
That glass is weighty enough that I think it could work great with the wood and pottery, maybe even lighten it up.
Have a wonderful trip 💕
I have those brick and red glasses but they are short glasses. Found them brand new in the original packaging
I think the whale is a sponge/scrubber holder for your sink.
I collect decanters and have all my bubblebsths stored in them.then they are corralled in a tray.
Wow! That teak tray was truly restored! Your table scape is divine.
Love the pewter bowls.
I use my vintage brass goblets and small trophy cups at Christmas; I put special glass ornaments in them, and group on a table or nestle in a garland.
I truly thought those silver bowls were offering plates for a church! 😬 AND, I’m very excited to see Europe!! I can’t wait to get started! Take care and safe travels! …and I still hear you smiling! ♥️
I hope you or your Mom kept one of your "original" Orca pieces. How fun it would be to have one now.
Yet again, lots of cool stuff.Hope your having fun over here in the UK.
Until this video I truly thought all "real" crystal had lead. Another reason why I love your videos Laura, I always learn things that I don't expect!
I get so excited when a new video of yours pops up, Laura! Thanks for taking us on another fun thrifting adventure and sharing your expertise ❤️
I think your style has changed a little from your previous vlogs. You really find great stuff. At my age I have mountains of stuff and should not buy one more item. Which makes it really fun to watch you , and. Of course have an opinion on your chosen. I love the banded glasses. Thank you 😊. P.S. The whale/orca could be a really cute soap dish. The green pitcher is amazing.
I remember back when... "I'll never do my own KZread channel. I'd be too nervous." Well, you must be so proud of yourself. Laura, you are the most genuine, sweetest, happiest people I know. Not that I know you personally, but I just love your videos. My bucket list is to meet you in person and go thrifting. By the way, you also inspired me to arrange a girls thrift crawl! 14 of us are set to make a day of it on June 25th! PS - have a fabulous European trip!

I would sure love to do another one someday soon 😄
I could be wrong, but I think that orca is a sponge holder for your sink.
I think the whale is a kitchen sink scrubbie holder not an ash tray or not vintage it is fairly new ...I had some of those blue glasses they are from the 80s
So glad I found you!! Love your style & vintage taste. Can’t wait to see what you find in Europe!!! Keep on picking!!!
You have better goodwills in your area than I do. Love watching your videos
Not a ash tray, was for by sink ,for your scrubbies

Have a wonderful time in Europe, I’m originally from the UK so I know you are going to be thrilled with the mid century items you’re going to come across there, happy shopping 🛍.
I just scored on a Mexican silver abalone shell pendant/broach with silver chain for 1.99! Thought of you when I saw it. Polished up beautiful.
I spray my bundle pan with Baker's Joy. Never have a sticking problem.
I don’t go to thrift stores much anymore because 1. there’s not one in my remote area and 2. I HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF!!! Unlike you, I don’t have very good taste, so my stuff is pretty junkie! You found beautiful items and you are very good at decorating! Table setting is beautiful!
i have a nordicware bundt pan that is a decorative christmas wreath you have to spray them with pam with flour then use a brush to smear it around so its not puddled then flour it lightly if you are baking a dark cake use hersey cocoa powder and i cook them at 350 for 45 to 50 min and if you wait for them to cool they usualy fall right out of the pan!
Love the flower pot stand story so sweet!
Gorgeous clear glass! Yes
The great bird with the open mouth is also a kitchen sponge holder, not an ashtray!
Have fun in Europe! I was so happy to see you posted a video this morning!
That whale is a spunge holder
You had very good luck this time! I really liked the small wooden vases. When you said I'm gonna get all 3 I said "yeah you are!" Lol!
I have the same blue goblets. The pattern is Perspective by Noritake. Chunky and heavy so not easily damaged.
I am a new subscriber and wish I would have found you sooner! Love love love your videos! Such enthusiasm and wonderful decorating ideas! I love how you shop great 👁!
Great finds. love the blue glass.
Great finds Laura , Love the wooden bowl.
