    Wow! This announcement has made my day, very well done Bachmann for being the first premium manufacturer to bring the class 08 up to date with all the features modellers want like lighting and a stay alive system, I’m so happy to see the features that have been incorporated on this great model, please have a look at the class 58 and 73 as they are in need of an update. ☯💯💎

    @@PolishThatHandle346 For sure, the tooling options/variations are a big factor but in every respect these models promise to be either a match for or in many cases an improvement over any other RTR Class 08 previously produced in this scale. I would pay more for these but we will have to wait and see how much that will be.

    While I like the 08 shunter for being a useful station pilot and whatnot, I don't have room for him in my collection. I know that you are also working with Graham Farish, which provides us with tinier N Gauge track and models. I have the set up of a track controller (plugged in and clipped to two pieces of railway line), N Gauge track and GWR Large Prairie Tank Engine (ebay), four trucks (sent to me by my friend Alfie) and a GWR Toad Van (ebay). The steamy won't get her first run till November, because the Summertime heat causes a short circuit. On top of this, I'm suffering a nervous attack of the butterflies, because I've never operated a tiny N Gauge train before. Can you show me an N Gauge steamy and rolling stock running on your test track, pretty please? I think it would help me feel a bit more at ease.

    So much research has gone into this project, to produce so many variations. That cost has to be recovered over the expected sales, which may or may not be many. Effectively, the models which will go on sale have to be small batch production [if you want a particular version, buy it at once]. The cost will be high, even by today's standards. Is the market already saturated with all the existing good models? Time will tell; watch this space.

    Excellent news one I've been asking for. Hopefully, IVOR will be amongst one of the earliest releases. Edit. Bachmann have replied, offering me a better understanding of my comment below. My only issue is. Bachmann as a customer pay less than the public for stay alive, and these can be fitted at the factory, and they are will SOUND and DELUXE model's. Why penny pinch £7.50 and not install a stay alive into a READY model's which is more important than a non used speaker given the short wheel arrangement. Other than that, 10/10

    Hi @dinmorejunctionmodelrailway, the 'stay alive' will be fitted to all variants, however on the 'standard' model this will have no effect unless a DCC decoder is fitted and the model is used on DCC. We didn't want to cause confusion and make analogue users think they could benefit from this DCC feature, so chose to omit the symbol for the 'standard' model. I hope that helps, many thanks

  • @dinmorejunctionmodelrailway

    @dinmorejunctionmodelrailway

    @BachmannEuropeOfficial Thanks for your response. An oversight on my understanding of the stay alive and Decoder requirements. I thought the stayed alive would be hardwired to the locomotive, and any decoder fitted would allow the use of additional functionality.

  • @BachmannEuropeOfficial

    @BachmannEuropeOfficial

    Ай бұрын

    @@dinmorejunctionmodelrailway that's right, the 'stay alive' components are factory-fitted to all models, so when a DCC decoder is fitted to a 'standard' model, DCC users can benefit from this additional, pre-installed feature. However, as the components will have no effect on the 'standard' model out of the box (because no decoder is fitted as-supplied to 'standard' models), we omitted the logo to prevent analogue users thinking this was a feature they would be able to benefit from. Clearly we could have explained this a little better, so I'm sorry for any confusion! Many thanks

    Argee yes do get light and stay alive. But Hornby model could being easy update to have it. 2 model from Hornby Plus 2 now Bachmann. 4 version is to much. I would like to see new tools never got in OO scale ready to Run . Like T3 563 LSWR green at Swanage or steam train pre 1923 SR Or D40 and Etc.

    Honestly? This already exists. Make something new. An Oxted Unit, 120, 4-CIG, or an ex-NBR tank or HR Loch. No doubt this will no be 675 quid when I bought one for less than 60 a decade ago.

    Yeah but not with the comprehensive tooling options shown here, meaning far more of the class can be produced. Plus I don’t remember the old model having lights, sound, capacitors, or auto uncoupling?

    @@nickg2762 auto couplings and lights? Honestly, gimmicks? Come on now. Auto couplers were tried over in Europe. Flash in the pan doesn't cover it. And who wants to ruin the fun of having to physically uncouple things? That's part of the joy of a shunting layout. It's money for old rope, and more and more are seeing it.

    @@millerwatson7109 auto uncoupling is only available on Deluxe variants, and I have never heard lights be described as gimmicky. Every single manufacturer knows lights come as standard nowadays, especially for diesel prototypes. And why gloss over the addition of sound, capacitors and comprehensive tooling?

    Well the market is wide open for those you have suggested, so go on, start your own company and tell us when they'll be available and how much they'll be

    @@user-bd2ps9eq9t being honest, with 3D printing that's a possibility. Isn't it? See, smart assed "well you make it/preserve" comments are not only trite and dreary these days. They're headed for redundancy. Something certain manufacturers may do well to heed.

    Hornby is still good model. Thinks first being nice if did T3 LSWR 563 in green at Swanage now with Z class. There 30499 SR S15 in LSWR green. There all one said as not mean getting some new updates one. But would love to do the grey one (21C164 in work grey with Hornby R2685 did the black tender)

    Bachmann, it's time you moved into the 21st Century and replaced Richard with someone who can promote, question and enhance your brand. Richard may be a nice guy and good at some things, but sadly, promoting isn't one of them. Bachmann, there are plenty of voice actors and visual actors whose skills are to bring a brand to life; that's why so many are used in commercials on television and radio. If you want to be at the forefront of the market, take a leaf out of Rapido and Accurascale. Move away from the 'amateur hobby' approach and use promotional brand advocates, actors and voice actors to enhance your brand and get it to breath.

    Imagine Brian Blessed extolling the virtues of a new 08/9, or Joe Pasquale? For me just a simple description of a model's qualities will do fine. My existing Bachmann 08 with professional weathering is superb, but owning a model of museum standard is most pleasurable.
