Bach - Duetto no. 1 in E minor BWV 802 - Seeger | Netherlands Bach Society
Музыка
Bach’s Clavier-Übung III is a collection of organ pieces that follow the themes of the Lutheran Sunday services. Each piece has a clear theme. But after all the chorale arrangements, the first of four enigmatic duets, this Duetto in E minor BWV 802, performed here by Daniel Seeger for All of Bach, suddenly makes its appearance. Musicologists still disagree today about whether these duets have a special significance and, if so, what it might be.
The interpretations are very diverse. Some think that the four duets right before the closing fugue simply bring the total number of pieces in the collection to 27. This does at least conform to the clear trinity theme of the book: 27 = 3 × 3 × 3. But there are also theories about the cross symbolism, the traditional Easter hymn Victime paschali laudes, Lutheran prayers and devotions, and communion practices, etc. In short, the only clear thing nowadays is that if the duets did have symbolic meaning, we have still not been able to shed light on it.

Extraordinary, searing brilliance, hard to bear. Hadn't expected to be assailed so powerfully by this short piece.

I find it quite annoying to be perfectly honest
Wow that must have been written by an utter genius! Wait a minute...
I can't get enough of this short masterpiece
This is Bach! The majesty itself!
That sound!!!! Just monstrous
Definitely one of Bach's weirder pieces--at least with the registration used here. Sometimes that upright old burger lets loose a spook or two. The visit to Buxtehude might have had something to do with that.
I just love the “funky syncopation” in this piece, so disjointed in parts, but making absolute sense! What’s truly wonderful is, we don’t have to understand the riddle of the duets to thoroughly enjoy them! Beautiful playing, btw, really stunning!
Is it just me, or are the four duets of this Organ collection some of the most delightful strange in all of Bach's organ works? The second one in particular goes in such unusual tonal directions. I can safely say I've never heard some of the harmonies in that piece outside of Schoenberg and the like, only it is in the service of a very clear, well-defined emotional burst that one feels very much at home in. Only Bach can transform such awkward tone structures into beautiful, direct music for the soul. I don't know music theory well, so I don't know how to say it any better!
Pure and uncompromising. Powerful. What a treat! Many thanks, NBS, you are the best!
No need to say that Bach is the legend of all time. It was an excellent music work of Bach, I enjoyed it so much, The player was an excellent artist, It was a very impressive performance, Thanks for uploading.
Thank you for the great performance and very informative liner notes!🌺
Fantastic performance
Wow bravo! Also, this piece sounds very nice on the organ (and with those registers).
Amazing performance🍃thank you
This stellar performance by Daniel Seeger gives us at least a ray of hope for the younger generation.
Esa registración me ha sorprendido y entusiasmado. Buena decisión e interpretación. Enhorabuena! 👏👏👏👏
beautiful registration - bedankt!
Very beautifully played.
Amazing !!
Me encantaron esos registros empleados!
Es ist immer sehr schön zu sehen, daß es auch weitere junge Menschen gibt, welche die Liebe zur Orgel teilen. Er ist ungefähr in meinem Alter. Sehr episches Video. 💫
Maravilloso.
Oh how I would love to see this choreographed
YOUR THE BEST TO PLAY THIS PIECE...BRILLIANT !!!
Wonderful
Brilliant. Bravo
Positively scintillating: the piece (of course), the performance, the organ (of course), the registration! Daniel Seeger is clearly a name to watch. What a pity that there is no interview with him. I'd love to know exactly what stops he's using. Many thanks and congratulations!

BEAUTIFUL, HOW MODERN IS BACH IN OUR TIME, JUST 2 CONTERPOINT VOICES , LIKE IN 2 VOICES INVENTIONS FOR HARPSICHORD .
Wonderful!
Excellent!
Awesome
Great!
Fantastico
Diabolical and genius.
Wow! Sounds like Bach just had an argument with his wife and is letting of steam.
A brilliant interpretation. For me it summons up ‘chaos’! The world we currently live in.
cool
This is a strange work, which to me suggests profound disturbance and turmoil.

Fit for a (2 out of 5 stars) review of the universe: _"This is strange work that suggests profound disturbance and turmoil."_ --- There is no harmony in the universe. Human mind has to get acquainted to the idea that there is no real harmony as we/they have conceived it. _“Bach's music is the only argument proving the creation of universe cannot be regarded as a complete failure. Without Bach, God would be a complete second-rate figure.”_ --Cioran
I heard, that Bach was drunk when he was writing this.
S E E G E R D ? E E G E R D ?
BuxteBach.
By Bach? I wouldn't think so when listening to it. It could be something written after Schoenberg. Wonder how it would sound on a harpsichord. From Chicago, U.S.A.
Why is there so much registration here?
What registers were used?

I can see on your headvibrations who your teacher was....
GOD bless Daniel in Jesus name and NBS!😍
Why so loud?
A collusion between 2 fiendish criminals- never coordinated from complete Sin. Or, a man and woman.
He really brings out how nasty this piece is
Horrible registration!! It hurts!!!
