Coming out of the evals I didn't really have a favorite, until heard her rap in BU. Her vocals in SITM cement her as my bias, a true ace as you said with a distinctive voice that's easily recognizable.

Asa's tone is so pure 😍I hope this will be the start of more of her singing lines in the future!

This MV is vocally and musically beautiful. It's really their vocal showcase, but Pharita highnote stood out the most.

This song is just a flex. To come out with a ballad so early and no choreo is to showcase their vocals which as a group have to be the best right now. I also agree with you, when Asa came in my jaw dropped and then I remember when YG said she came and he thought she only knew how to rap but was surprised she could sing too and what a lovely tone she has.

I felt the same why when I realized Asa was singing, I literally teared up 🥹

This song could have been to purposedly shine Pharita's unique characteristic tone and technique, plus Chiquita's angelic voice, and reveal Asa and Ruka's singing capability. RORA and RAMI did their parts perfectly and could have been so muh participation in backing harmonization because they appear to be very skillful in the last evaluation show. I'm curious to proof this, too, if there is any live perfomace show release soon afterward.

I've seen quite a few comments in other vids that noticed Rora's line distribution was the least of the vocal line, but I think it will even out in the rerecording for the mini with Ahyeon taking parts from Chiquita, Rami, and Pharita.

That’s the problem with 6-7 members. It’s hard to give everyone time each song. Ruka clearly got the least. But hopefully in fast hip hop/rap style songs she will get more. With so many members and different styles of songs it’s never going to be fair each song. But hopefully they balance it out.

Should add I did see you said Rora. My comment wasn’t a mistake. I just think Ruka had the least. Like I said hopefully through out their songs it balances out. Pretty hard to make 6-7 members perfectly even each song. Plus Rora got her moment on the piano. I’d love to know she had some real part in that. We know she can play and it’s not a crazy song for the piano. Her playing that live would be amazing.

I agree Ruka got the least lines, that's why I referenced the vocal line specifically. I expected the rap line to have the least given that it was a ballad and was actually pleasantly surprised that Asa was in the bridge, but also agree it can never be a perfect distribution with so many members. When they release full albums I hope they take the opportunity to have solos or sub-units to allow everyone to shine. Fingers crossed for a Ruka/Asa sub-unit.

I was literally thinking of you when this came out. You wanted vocals, how about this. This is a vocal Flex. Rora, Rami, and Chiquita killing it then Pharita comes in with the high notes. Even Asa and Ruka sound amazing. Subtle raps, holding back from breaking out into full rap. And Asa Beautiful vocals on the staircase. They all sound amazing, and look so stunning in this video. You can pause almost any frame and it can be a thumbnail, its so beautiful I know you were not happy with Batter Up, so I'm happy to see this song made you excited about BM again.

Majority of people really love this song and MV. hopefully we see a live for this and Rora is playing the piano just like this in MV cuz this song is made to sing live. 👌

With their group name babymonster, I think the hip hop / hype song genre would be their main concept, but i am happy if they can occasionally do vocal / r&b genre once a while. After all, batter up is very good regardless what people say.

Not comparing but I think the group name was chosen specifically, like Blackpink or Red Velvet, to reflect their ability to show different sides. Batter Up = Monster, SITM = Baby.

This name "BabyMonser" is actually a 12 year old name that YG patented back then and never used lol 😂 before blackpink debuted when YG was releasing "members" evaluation videos, many like me thought that it would be used for Blackpink.

In all 3 BabyMonster songs, Asa really is top tier. Not once did she not eat

Don't get me wrong lex, I'm following you since your very 1st Blackpink reaction (infact watched your 1st 3 blackpink reaction videos multiple times cos they are soo fun 😂) But You thought that batter up was "Too much blackpink footsteps" cos you only know blackpink from YG. The thing is Batter Up was Typical YG debut which gave Homage to all the senior artists and gave audience assurance that "We are next in YG and we are READY to take YG to new level without compromising YG-swag (you are long enough in k-pop to know that there is something in YG artists which no artist from other companies have, we love to call that YG swag) In fact I know you don't know this but this "Stuck in the middle" song is also nothing different from YG... It's soo YG styled Ballad. YG artists from 2nd gen used to do this kind of song very often.. idols like BigBang (specially Taeyang), 2NE1 and AKMU were known for their unique ballads and this is nothing but "Upgraded Version" of that.

When you say you will watch Stuck in the middle 50k times, we all do wish you actually did because the view rate only managed to get 50% of Batter Up in the First 24 hours. You are happy but you are not watching enough times. YG is not a charity catering to your needs when you just listen once in your reaction and no more after.

I think the song is perfect the way it is. But with YG saying that they are re-recording this and Batter Up with Ahyeon in it, I am worried that they will take Asa singing part away and give them to Ahyeon. Reason for me thinking this is that the song is long enough as it is atm so can not see them adding on lines, also Asa's parts suits both her And Ahyeon. Before people make assumptions my Bias are Asa and Rami (Haram), I don't hate Ahyeon (Extremely talented, just dont like how YG pushed her on to people too much which makes some people dislike her).

I feel its really cruel on Ahyeon, because there is so much pressure on her. This is down to YG. Like in The Last Evaluation. She came in 4th for the song Choice ,they made her change her song... Asa and Ruka came 6th.. And wasnt made to change theirs. Lots of thing with that Show didnt sit right with me, like they conveniently forgot Asa sang in her Intro vid or Rami and Pharita rapped in their intro and kept pushing Ahyeon as only one that did both. Even down to when the member reveal vid they didnt mention Rami or Pharita ability to rap, just said that they training Chiquita to rap@@LexListens

This is an interesting discussion I hope you don't mind me inserting myself into it here. I totally see the whole pushing Ahyeon thing you mentioned. I honestly think that because she's the oldest Korean member and with her talents across the board, YG figured she would be the anchor/face of the group for domestic fans. It worked to an extent. Among my korean circles when babymonster is mentioned, ahyeon is the first girl that comes to mind, they sort of see her as the mini Jennie. I don't, but I can get why they'd make that connection. Will be blunt though, if Asa wasn't Japanese and was Korean, we wouldn't be having this discussion. She would probably be right up there as the face of the group.

And Asa sang in her intro video in Diary performance but we got only 2 lines of her singing in the intro video and that too was over the "Backing vocals" so clearly at that point neither ASA nor YG were confident with her singing but in members reveal video YG said he wanted to make her ACE & Leader of his Global GG Now 2nd Like you, many did not understand how that "song choice" evaluation worked... They divided the group into "Singers" and "Rappers" and then gave the ranking so, Ahyeon came 4th out of 5 singers rather than 7 members. I'm not saying that YG tried to "Push" Ahyeon in pre-debut content but at least get your points right when you say that... like YG snatched the "core" part of GONE from pharita and gave it to Ahyeon. Or how Rami was last in the "song choice" evaluation in singers but still the one who got her song changed was Ahyeon who scored better than Rami. Ahyeon is my bias cos she's soo YG, not only as an idol but as a LEADER. She's STRONG and does not shy away from challenges but doesn't mean YG should try to "Push" her, she's capable of winning fans with her talent.

Be it prep of "Gone" cover or "Scars to your beautiful" cover, she always steps up to take the responsibility of being the leader and from my 16 years of experience of following YG I certainly Know that YG leaders always get privileges.

fun fact when Blackpink debuted alot of people did not like it coz it was too much like 2NE1...so this thing happening for Babymonster being compared to their label seniors is nothing new Its just the YG sound...if you been familiar with YG girl groups for a while you will know ....from Sawi.T, to BIG MAMA, TO 2NE1, to Blackpink, and now Babymonster... YG's essence is hiphop but when they do Ballads..they never disappoint
