I've been in apart of the hardcore scene for a very long time like late 90's early 2000's the first time i saw babymetal was at a free fest they were playing alongside hatebreed and killswitch engage I've seen those 2 bands hundreds of times even before they were considered just "metal" bands and dude babymetal stole the show the best performance of all the bands that played that whole fest i was blown away and the hardcore and metal fans all danced around together and not fighting for "mosh" space integrity used to be my favorite band but now its babymetal Ps. Metal music is meant as a catalyst for the darkness in us so that we can be happier people in our everyday lives but metal can be sad too sometimes. And when it is it's like a punch in the gut. You feel it. Wherever we are we'll be with you, little Stargazer!

The rage of the riff in the verse and the sorrow of the chorus is palpable. This what it sounds like inside when someone you love dies. I wouldn't have expected this level of quality from a novelty pop act. I've always liked this group. But they've proven their cred with this song. Which is pretty radical. I can't just treat them like an amusing novelty group with a few bangin' riffs now. No more patronizing from me.

I'm not much a big fan of Metal or Heavy Metal but the way it's sang into the beat is what brings me back listening to these tracks. "Give Me Chocolate" was the very first song that I've heard from them and believe me I've put that song on repeat about more than 20 times while I was driving. What really impresses me about babymetal is how educated and talented the musicians are with metal: this song has a lot of djent elements with double pedals while other songs sound like old school metal with solos, and others like metalcore with filthy breakdowns and blast beats. Even the screamer has really good lows. I mostly listen to deathcore and metalcore, and that’s why the music blends in so well with the Japanese pop because the metal parts are way above average.

The first time I saw Yui-chan was in Singapore in November 2013. At that time, I had no idea how much that moment would change my life forever. It was only a few seconds long, but that was the most important few seconds of my life. I remember walking up to the meet & greet table. Seeing these three girls so much shorter than me, staring up into my eyes and smiling at me. Waving to them and them waving back. Mumbling off a few words of greeting which they reciprocated. They were incredibly radiant and seemed so happy to see me. I felt so warm inside even though I didn’t know why. My heart just melted. And because of that magical day, I went on to experience so many other incredible, unforgettable moments. From meeting her again in December that year, to seeing them with the kami band for the first time in the 2015 Europe tour, to getting the sweetest smile from Yui during Meta Taro as I imitated her outstretched fist in Chicago 2016, to her beaming at the whole front row waving the pink SG towels in Seattle, to being right in front of her at the APMAs watching her playing the guitar with Mikio, and of course, at Chula Vista in 2017 wishing her a happy birthday and getting a bow of gratitude in return. And many, many other joyful days that I will always remember. But then Kansas City happened. The hurt, the confusion, the betrayal, the tears. I already knew deep in my heart back then that it was over. Nonetheless, I still could delude myself; that as long as there wasn’t an official statement from Amuse, Yui could still return to Babymetal somewhere someday. But today’s announcement was the final nail in the coffin to all of our hopes. It feels like something inside of me has died forever, that my gaping emotional void just got so much bigger, that my heart has shattered into a million pieces. But enough of that. I didn’t write this to post about how sad I am. Instead, this is a celebration of the past few years, a homage to Yui-chan thanking her for inspiring me and changing my life for the better. Five years ago, I thought that following a band around the world was something that only super rich people do, or something some super extroverted and crazy person does. If someone had told me that I would be seeing a group 46 times in 35+ cities across 3 continents, I would have thought that impossible. I hate going out. I hate meeting new people. I hate travelling. I have minor social anxiety. The thought of being in a busy street, on a crowded bus sickened me and is still unpleasant to this day. So really, I’m the last person who would be likely to go on such an adventure. How wrong I was. It really doesn’t take anything at all. All it requires is passion for the group you love. I’m glad I had the courage to step out of my comfort zone and go on this unforgettable journey. More than just the girls or the band, I will also miss the many incredible people I met. We live in a disgusting society where people are just using each other for their own gain. But not in the Babymetal community. I started off going to shows alone, far from home and not knowing a single person. But the care of the fellow Babymetal fans blew me away. There were fans letting me sleep in their hotel rooms when I had none, treating me to meals, giving me and other fans free VIP tickets, driving me between cities for shows, and many other big and small acts of help. I have never experienced such kindness before, much less from people that were sometimes complete strangers. People who don’t understand will laugh at us, call us creepy, say that we’re wasting our money and time. But I don’t give a fuck. Only those who I shared these previous memories with can understand how much it means to me. I’m going to be honest. I’m dead certain that I would have killed myself at some point these past few years without Babymetal. Those who have never experienced depression will never get it. It’s really not something that can be explained easily. It’s not a matter of “Why are you sad when other people have it so much worse than you?” or “Huh? But you are always smiling and seem okay, why do you feel like this?”. The feeling that Babymetal gave me was priceless. They gave me this precious something that made me feel whole, made me feel complete, gave me something to look forward to and made me believe that life was something worth fighting for. That there’s still some good left in this existence. They were the light in my dark world. Babymetal literally saved my life. Babymetal will always hold a special place in my heart. I may have other groups that I would travel to see, but nothing will even come close to what Babymetal meant to me. I will always hate their management, but I don’t hold a single thing against Yui or Moa or Su. They sacrificed the best years of their youth to bring happiness to us. Despite what has happened in the end, I don’t regret any of it; not the five figures I’ve spent on this group, not all the shit I’ve gotten from my parents for this, not the sleepless nights freezing my ass of the streets of London, Los Angeles, Chicago and so many other cities. Rather, I’m immensely thankful for everything. No amount of career success or money will ever enable me to experience what I had these past five years again. I feel incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to see the greatest group in the world so many times. I will always treasure the memories of these past few years. I don’t want to send Yui-chan off with tears, but with a big smile, just like she has always done for me when I’m at barrier. Thank you for all the happiness you’ve given me. I wish you happiness in life too. Goodbye, Yui-chan. I love you so much.

Hi @Shawn That's quite a missive. Sounds like Babymetal made a REAL and positive difference to your life. That's the power of great music. Don't say goodbye to Yui-chan, just yet. Yui has, literally, millions of people praying for her. We've all watched her grow up. We all want her to be well, and we're all saddened by her departure from BM. It must've been a seriously tough decision for her, but, personally, I'm thankful just to hear from her (and that she's doing what's best for herself; looking to the future). I'm sharing that big smile. Yui remains focused on good health so she may return as an artist (on her own terms ). -I'm betting, when she is fully recharged, she'll not be able to resist finding a bit of time for a little more Babymetal activity, too; ) and Su-metal, Mo-metal and Kami Band continue the BM quest. Best wishes.

2018 has been a bad year for Babymetal...Mikio's death, the silence of the management about the Yui-situation, upsetting fans and finally, Yui officially leaving...but I'm looking forward to 2019, the new songs we've been getting are suggesting that a new album is just about to drop, and I honestly can't wait! Before people say that Babymetal has died, they should wait until the album. We haven't even heard all the new songs yet, and the ones we have heard, aren't bad at all! Evolving and progressing is a good thing. I just hope 2019 will be a better year, with a new album and our girls and the Kamiband smiling again.

Six months later, BM released PA PA YA, which, while nowhere near 10/10, I sure as hell enjoy, they got their mojo back, they initiate people in thousands (Glastonbury) and Su and Moa are better and more charming and adorable than ever. My and not only my hopes were not completely in vain, but I'm afraid we're nowhere close to getting the masterpieces like IDZ, Akatsuki or No Rain, No Rainbow from Metal Galaxy.

I f'ing love this song. The chorus is so powerful and so moving. Perfectly matched by the adrenaline-pumping metal beat in the background. Mikio Fujioka's passing and Yui's retirement makes this song even more touching and... melancholic in a way. Who knew becoming a Babymetal fan would be such an emotional rollercoaster? This song represent life to me. Tragedy is always around the corner, but even so we must find the strength to move on, while never forgetting the loved ones we've lost on the way. Rest well Mikio-san, and thank you for everything.

Ever since I heard the first song of BABYMETAL, I knew from that day that this band will prosper and reach out to as many people in the world. After knowing that this song is a tribute, it brought me to tears. Without BABYMETAL, noone will ever be the same. RIP Mikio, you will never be forgotten. We are thankful and proud that you took this ride with the band for many years. And now you have found your way riding to the stars. Good luck Yui. BABYMETAL is never the same without you. You have brought nothing but happiness to the world. We all love you. Even though its unfortunate you left the band, life goes on. We will always support you and the band wherever and whenever. Big Love to "YuiMetal" and "Ko-Gami". You will always remain in our hearts.
