    The basic story of the song is that the biggest obstacles we face are the ones we put up ourselves, but you have to face them and persevere. The last line of the song with the sustained note is "if you are knocked down, and too sad to get up, run" with run forward implied. This song in concert you really feel in your chest from the start with those deep notes. Su's voice didn't waver a bit when she was bouncing up and down, her core must be solid to pull that off, they must be in shape like pro athletes.

    Yeah, the music video displays this more clearly since there isn't the call and response. All the girls fall, Su rises first and helps Moa and Yui up, and in getting up from being knocked down they discover their inner strength.

    You're right about the rain - apparently they were delayed by about 40 minutes because of the deluge and while the water was swept from the stage. I've seen an interview with the members of Korn right after this and they were soaked through having been standing in the rain to watch Babymetal - and they said it was so worth getting wet for. 'Karate' is about fighting your inner demons, getting up when you've been knocked down, you're crying and it all seems too hard, helping each other to stand and fight on. They used karate to illustrate this further as it is a Japanese martial art with no backward moves, it is always about moving forward. You asked for Black BABYMETAL songs (just Yui and Moa) and I see 'Onedairi Daisakusen', GJ' and 'Sis Anger' have already been suggested. The other one is '4 No Uta' or 'Song 4' and is the only song Yui and Moa have full writing credits for (music and lyrics, not the arrangement of course). They wrote it on the tour bus in Singapore when they were 12 when challenged by SU. The number 4 ('shi') is associated with death in Japan and is considered an unlucky number to be avoided (much like 13 in the west), so they use 'yon' instead. In the song they are naming lots of other words with 'shi' in them and saying they don't mean death so neither does 'shi' as the number 4. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eYp8o9Koet2zdrQ.html

    There‘s so much I love about this performance. First and foremost, when Su says „let us hear your voice“ in her soft voice and takes her earpiece out, my heart just melts. And her „hashire“ at the end still gives me shivers, no matter how often I listen to this. The dancing is on point as usual, and the soaking wet stage won‘t keep the girls from lying down on the floor. Mikio‘s smile is infectious as usual (R.I.P., we miss you!). The energy of the song is insane and that chorus is so catchy, everyone who was not jumping during that last chorus must be dead inside. For a Black BABYMETAL song (Moa and Yui) I would like to recommend „GJ!“, but that one tends to get blocked, so I‘ll go with „Onedari daisakusen“ instead: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iIVt06Sjj67Xgps.html. Keep you insulin injections ready!

    "..recalling one of her earliest performances with the group in Japan, where those in the audience weren’t trying hard to hide their laughter at the three girls onstage, confused by their unusual blend of harsh metal and cutesy J-pop. But SU-METALdescribes how it filled her with nothing but steely determination.." An excerpt of BABYMETAL interview with KERRANG!. The audience weren't laughing with them, but at them. This was during their formative year. This clip is from 2016. I don't think the crowds are laughing at them here. They were definitely laughing, but this time it was because they were having fun and enjoying the show - in the rain, together with BABYMETAL at Download Festival.

    where was that reporter at to think the crowd was laughing at them? there is no laughing to me but a crowd having fun in the rain. why would anybody wait in the rain for 45 minutes just to laugh at them? I know it was the second time at download but everybody stayed to watch Babymetal not to laugh at them. maybe that reporter that said laughing is having fun knowing that Babymetal kicks ass more than a lot of bands that he probably likes.

I was just highlighting the struggle they had to go through in the metal world and their strong spirit and determination to reach where they are now. Suggest you spend the time to go watch the official MV. Along with some of the other comments It will make more sense of the story and why they fall down. I understand that Mikiko-sensei asked the trio to check out sources for karate moves and pick out some that would make good dance moves. They chose mostly from anime and movies. She then wove it all together with the music into what you see. One of the movies was "Best Boy" which was the title for The Karate Kid in Japan (IIRC). You'll see in the MV. A side note about Kobametal, the Producer: he was apparently helping sweep the water off the stage before their set. There are many videos where he can be seen personally inspecting the stage, taping down cables, etc., even though they have their own stage crew which sees to that.

  • @johnschultz7765

    @johnschultz7765

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@Detrucci, not sure why they all end in metal, but it is a thing. Even the songwriting credits often use -metal pseudonyms. But it is clear that for the girls when they were young this was a role they played. "Nakamoto Suzuka as Su-metal," although not stated like that in some time. Their privacy has been fiercely protected and continues where in interviews they are to be only addressed as their metal name. Kobametal (the Producer) has also been adamant about keeping up the mystique and mythos. To do otherwise "breaks the illusion" and I think he believes that would harm their popularity. Suu herself distinguishes between Suzuka and Su-metal. A sort of Beyoncé / Sasha Fierce thing though that is a comparison I am making. Suzuka is not like Su-metal in everyday life and both Moa and Yui said in an interview that Suu is the most "girly" of the three. What seems certain is that they really are the sweet, humble and sincere people they appear to be.

  • @junichi9182

    @@johnschultz7765 Your are right. The girls speak very polite Japanese. It's like English speakers calling people "sir" and "ma'am," and they put "san" (Mr. / Mrs.) whenever they call others or even bands, e.g. "Metalica-san" in their interviews (not any more? because they grew up and got used to English). I think that was because almost all of the fans, staff members, supporters around were older than they were (mostly adults). Actually, in one interview when they were asked about the audience's reaction to their songs Su answered "oh, they were kind enough to get excited..." When you hear them speaking Japanese, you can tell they are polite, disciplined, sincere and sweet young ladies from the language they use.

    @Wordofaking 1611 I've been a BABYMETAL fan since 2014, just a bit before the first album dropped. Is that early enough for you? Your complaint about "bandwagoners" is really dumb. People discover a group when they happen to discover them. Most artists are happy to have new fans. That's what sells records and concert tickets, and allows them to continue to make music. And while the lead singer is a young soprano, her voice is about as far from squeaky or chipmunky as you can get. It's fine if this isn't the group for you, but your stated reasons are garbage.
