" BABYMETAL and Sonisphere 2014 " one of legendary day in Babymetal Universe.

Easy reminder : Su was born on 20th of December 1997 Yui was born on 20th of June 1999 Moa was born on 4th of July 1999 Sonisphere was in summer of 2014. Su was 16 and the other two girls had just turned 15 a few days before this concert.

This performance was actually at lunchtime on the Saturday afternoon when everybody at the festival were still getting over their hangovers from the night before. That's one way to wake everyone up!

I love the final scenes of this video, when Su wildly shakes her hand after the last „We are“, and all three of them just stand there for a few seconds at the end, taking in the crowd reaction. You can feel the load falling off their shoulders, the anxiety and nervousness being replaced with relief and satisfaction as they reap the fruit of their hard work. At least that‘s how it feels to me. You are right, Moa and Yui are an irresistibly charming duo. The cuteness is off the charts, and they have the talent and professionalism to go with it. If you don‘t smile watching these two, you know something‘s wrong with you. I‘m glad you get it. ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🚫 Su was 16. Yui and Moa had just recently turned 15. This was near the beginning of their first European tour. There was a bit of a warm up before this big festival show in the UK on July 5th. They played Paris on July 1st, and Cologne on July 3rd. Those were the shows were Yui and Moa each took over lead vocals on 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!!' to celebrate their fifteenth birthdays. Kami Band members for the Sonisphere concert were Hideki Aoyama on drums, BOH on bass and Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus on guitars. My favorite part of 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' is still the part where Su-metal threatens to kick Yui and Moa in the head if they don't stop bullying each other. : )

We definitely need to see Yui and Moa take over vocals soon :) Kami band are one of my new obsessions i think. I think BabyMetal have one of the best stage presences I have seen. I love that they have an anti bullying song :)

Great reaction and yes, in the Babymetal world this was an historic and very significant performance. Yui and Moa lead what the Japanese call "ai no te" - in other words it is their lines in songs that the crowd sing along with, when they jump or do a particular move in the choreo so does the crowd. It is their job to get everybody involved, to make the audience a part of the performance. You have seen a couple of great performances with all three girls and a Su-metal solo song - how about a 'Black BABYMETAL' song - that is Yui and Moa as a duo without Su? You have a choice of 4 songs: '4 No Uta' (or 'Song 4') with lyrics and music (not the arrangement) by Yui and Moa; 'Onedairi Daisakusen' (possibly the cutest metal song you'll ever see - the title means 'operation beg Dad for it'); 'GJ' great song, the title means 'Good Job' and it is a song of appreciation for the parents who go out to work and brave the mosh pits of the crowds on the trains and in the shops; or 'Sis Anger', quite possibly the heaviest Babymetal song musically, but with the contrast of Yui and Moa with their voices.

@@ernestrimbeck7630 That was in the guitar break during Akatsuki. I think "Evil Su" appeared possibly in Legend Z the first time (?) but she did it again during Legend S. On the 2018 tour the 'Musclemetal' girls performed a really spectacular fight in the same part of the song.

the first "wow" at the beginning are the sign that this will be a good reaction. Not many notice that this is a very early play of the day. It was an unexpected crowd even for the organizer to see so many in daytime. But it was those staffs whom scheduled Babymetal for the main stage and then people gathered to see what they are for the first time.

For someone to hear Su as a little girl just overpowering other girls with her vocal abilities & to have the foresight to think hmmmmn, I believe this little girls voice could soar above & punch through heavy metal music was just crazy. Then to start what was basically a school club, add two of the most adorable, dedicated, hardworking, even younger girls for scream & dance was even crazier yet. I hope that you delve into their history because it's simply fascinating, starting from where they did & becoming what they are now. IMHO. This band = pure musical genius.

Metal without anger and experiencing happiness and fun. Pure.

My favorite BM song and this performance won me over.

At some point you said: "that's metal" or "that's mental" I'm not sure, but I'm fine with both. :-) What's great about Yui(metal) and Moa(metal) is how much they mean it when they yell "dame, dame, dame" - ijime,dame,zettai is literally "Bullying, No More/Bad/Stop it, Forever", so they are are saying: "stop it", "stop it" ,"stop it". The last song in the set, the 30+ minutes that changed the world of metal forever. ;-) Couldn't have done it without the Kami band, but the girls really delivered. The festival organizers mentioned: never seen such an influx so early in the day.

A lot of people thinks that babymetal is just "the kami band and a little girls" Well, of course they were little girls at this time, but they have a long experience on stages before. They aren´t "just a random girls in front of a real band" The main singer Suzuka sang professionally for years before. In theatre and even with two more groups (jpop idol groups). One of the dancers Yui (the one who left the band) and Moa (and Sue) where working in the idol tv program "Sakura Gakuin" for some time. In the first years Yui was so tiny that she seats in a school chair and her feets don´t touch the ground. They do a very hard training program with modeling, singing, dancing... and at the same time they must go to school and get good grades. Imagines yourself with 10 years going to school and also working and training for years. Wanna play games?... no, you have singing classes. Wanna go with your friends?... have TV performance. Wanna do... anything? Sorry, you have a work besides school and a very exigent work where there´s no excuses. You´re only one in a lot and if you don´t perform superb, you´re fired. On stage all looks like fun but behind there´s years of hard work, a really hard work where thousands try and only a few pass.

The reason they run is that before they perform this song, there is normally a short narration by Su about stopping bullying and calling for a Wall Of Death. So when the songs kicks off Yui and Moa (the little dancer girls as you call them, but actually an integral part of the band who sing their own songs as well as dance) run at each other as if in a Wall Of Death. The dance they do is actually a fight which Su breaks up... But you don't get any of this by watching the Sonisphere performance. You really should watch a proper performance of the song. When i was 14 i was too shy to talk to girls i liked lolol These ladies were taking over the world!

This tour was the first time I had heard of them. Blew me away. Kawaii metal. Who knew?!

Akatsuki is the only one I would place above this. Both have absolutely beautiful melodies with fast paced intense background and some great use of piano. Headbanger is probably one of the most fun songs ever tho.

Two girls running as the song starts is, I believe, symbolizing "Wall of Death," for this tune is their first song to order the crowd to go wall-of-death. I always feel happy as I see the yellow-haired traditional punk guy going crazy in the moshpit.

Apparently, they sold more merchandise than any other band over the 3 days of the concert, one of the UK's biggest Metal festivals. I'm 58 and am as excited about having a ticket to see them live in Feb 2020 in my home town of Cardiff, Wales, UK as I was at 15, in 1976, when I saw Black Sabbath! There is a live performance of the Song “Headbanger” that acts as a transition from the Baby Bones band to the Kami band that is pretty cool. It has a short introduction in Japanese that talks about how the Kami band came to be(or at least that is what I think is happening cause I don’t speak Japanese). It is the 7:27 long version of Headbanger if you go looking for it.

They were 15&16 years old, opening the main stage on a Saturday that would close with Iron Maiden. This was their first western festival, they had problems with the soundcheck and played a short set, they had technical problems with their ear monitors at the start of the set, and in this song Yui's skirt got caught in one of her studs and was unraveling and getting tangled. None of that bothered them, they killed it on stage in front of a crowd that wasn't loaded with fans. Stars were born that day Hype aside, barely anyone knew them but there was a lot of curiosity. Saturday morning opening band usually plays to a dozen drunks who passed out the night before, and this was a full crowd of 60-65,000
