I’d say it is…and it isn’t. The overall message is great, very positive, it’s essentially a song that is saying, just enjoy your chocolate, and don’t worry about gaining weight. But there’s a reason for why the song was written. In Japan especially, but it does happen all around the world, they’re pretty obsessed with weight, to the point of starving themselves to maintain a slim figure, and I don’t mean just the adults, children as young as 10 or younger are VERY concerned about their weight, even though they’re growing and changing. The writer of the song is trying to say that it’s okay. You shouldn’t obsess over your weight ESPECIALLY as a child. It’s a weird song since it’s so upbeat, and has a positive message, but has an underlying darkness to it as well. Which is kind of perfect for the band in a way.

Good reaction. 'Gimme Chocolate' can go either way, some people love it, some people never get past the first "atatatatatatata dokyun" ... those are the people who gave BABYMETAL a hard time when this video went viral - those are the same people who still say it is a gimmick etc because they have never listened to anything else by them. It is just a fun song about them wanting chocolate, but they are a bit worried about their weight ... but it is chocolate and it would be so nice and make them so happy, so they will just have a piece of chocolate. This was filmed at the Legend 1997 concert in December 2013. It was the day after Su-metal's 16th birthday (she was born in 1997), you were absolutely right about Yuimetal and Moametal, they were both 14. Also yes, this was the live performance but with the studio audio - their live audio is usually better, but that comes on the BluRays, the official videos like this get the studio audio dubbed over instead.. The statue at the back played a part in the concert - they started with a theatrical opening to Schubert's 'Ave Maria' and from there the whole show was a sort of illustration of how BABYMETAL had come from being a JPop Idol group sub-unit to being an independent band in their own right ... but more importantly it was about Su-metal leaving her life as Suzuka Nakamoto, a JPop Idol, to being reborn as the Metal Goddess Su-metal. You could watch the show finale to see how BABYMETAL really do "Metal" ... look for 'BABYMETAL Death' live at Legend 1997. You said you toured in Japan with Slash? He is another BABYMETAL fan, I'm sure there must be a photo of him with them somewhere.

Welcome back to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🍫 Nice to see you're back with more BM songs. This is their breakout hit in 2014, for better or worse, either you hated or loved it, this MV got the highest amount of views on their channel, and fans were enjoying this song every night at Sabaton's Europe Tour and recently finished Asian Tour, is a hit they don't wanna miss in almost every live performance, hopefully you'll get the chance to see them live, don't miss out the opportunity to feel this experience. Dance choreography and metal has never seen before and an important part of this is thanks to Mikiko-Metal (aka Mikiko Mizuno) she's behind another famous Jpop group called Perfume and is very well respected sensei with her own group of dance Eleven Play, she was behind Olympic Games ceremony. And the mastermind behind this madness is KobaMetal. This MV isn't actually live version and not even with the usual Kami Band, is studio album version over a live performance which was partially live only on the vocals and choreography with backing track sound. Back in the day, before 2014 mainly, they used to have this backing band called "baby-bones" air playing instruments wearing this skeleton costumes, they didn't have the budget to afford a high level set of real musicians like they have now, so progressively since 2012 they incorporate the real band and leaving the baby-bones behind, they did a great job supporting the girls and giving a show, so shout-out to them for being part of BM story. This was in December 2013 at SuMetal 16th Birthday, the other girls had 14 yo and there was a big party you have seen nothing yet, wait for _"Babymetal Death"_ They're just singing about wanting to eat some chocolate but they worried about the weight just like any other regular girl, there's not so much hidden message behind, they used to have fun songs like these without so much deepness on the lyrics just to have fun and party, but the brutal contrast on this is remarkable, no doubt about it. See you in the mosh'sh pit means go watch Road Of Resistance live in Japan official. Another suggestion to witness a turning point in their career outside of Japan: - Ijime Dame Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 official. They feature some songs for the trailers of Tiny Tina's Wonderland videogame last year, Gimme Chocolate!! also sounds in the credits of the game. Thanks for sharing this and see you next time!🦊🤘🔥

ギミチョコ --> GI--MI--CHO--KO --> Gimme Choco(late). BABYMETAL is written as ベビーメタル (Be-Bii-Me-Ta-Ru). 😃 BABYMETAL has been going for about 13 years now. This is the studio version added on top of video from one of their concerts, the actual live version sounds more cohesive without the vocal effects. Have a look at the performance of this song at Budokan 2021 if you like.

Gimme Chocolate:- Old school Thrash Metal. Combinations of Metallica "Fight Fire With Fire" and Slayer "Raining Blood". Heaviest, Brutal song about Chocolate. Someone probably already answered but, they're not singing gibberish. I mean, the "atatatatatata dokyun - zukyun" part is gibberish (although it could also be an onomatopoeia...Japanese gets really crazy with onomatopeias), but the lyrics make sense. It's basically that she wants to eat chocolate, but she knows she shouldn't because she needs to watch her weight. She eats chocolate anyway for this one time. I like the "silly" topic of this song, and as a woman, I can relate to the pressure of needing t watch what you eat. It's not deep, but it's fun that there's a song that speaks to my need to eat sweet unhealthy foods.

You have questions. Posting this once again. BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (Yui left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old when the group began. All three were friends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to LIVE performance videos as this is where they shine. They have over 50 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more. Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.) Suggest reacting to these for a start. The song is just about Chocolate. But Gimme Choko the phrase has a dark history. Or is connected to a dark time in Japan. American soldiers always had Chocolate and cigarettes. Japanese orphans would say Gimme Choko to American soldiers in the occupation of Japan after ww2. But the song isn't about that.

@@coldnorthcreative this isn't one of those. But there are Japanese songs that sound very happy but the lyrics are dark AF. Like 'Racing into the Night' by Yoasobi. Or 'Lost One's Weeping' or 'Self Inflicted Achromatic' or 'Hitorinbo Envy'. Or even 'Viva Happy' which sounds very happy and is mostly happy but the chorus contains 'I cry every night'. It's kinda cool. I love the complexity. You don't see that in America.

I've seen them 3 times, The first time they supported RHCP and they blew them out of the water. Their set lasts exactly 1 hrs. Talk about high energy!

Waaaay, way too much chatter, bros! BabyMetal generates shock and nonpluses with most first time listeners. Musicianship, composition, vocals, show are absolutely top shelf professionally and creatively. Awesome and unique band. Go ahead. It's ok to love them. Chatter is so disruptive! You're so distracted from the music!
